okhomer
I believe that my flash drive is failing. It started when I went to the dashboard and I had the title bar but the rest of the screen was blank. I tried to reboot the server and got the no boot disk detected error. After a couple of times restarting I got it to come up. After it loaded the server was not pulling an IP address. Tried different ethernet ports with no success. Rebooted a couple of time again and from time to time get the "no boot device". So I am thinking I might have to replace the drive. My concern is that if I replace the drive what would that do to my drives. Would I create a new flash drive like I would starting new and then just copy the config file over to the new drive? Or could I just copy all the content from one drive to the other? I am trying to minimize as much loss as possible. P.S. How do you run a diag? okhomer
I am trying to get Diagnostics through the terminal because I can't get to the dash board. It is not working very well. I have tried cp /var/log/syslog /boot but it is not saving to the flash drive. I have also just tried to type diagnostics in the terminal and this did not work. Bad command or something like that. Any other ideas? Edited September 29, 2020 by okhomer Quote Link to comment
okhomer
This was using the tail -f --lines=100 /var/log/syslog command. Edited September 29, 2020 by okhomer added text. Quote Link to comment
Frank1940
Make sure that the flash (boot) drive is plugged into a USB2 socket. (For some reason, certain BIOS/MB seem to lose the Unraid boot drive when plugged into a USB3 socket.) Quote Link to comment
okhomer
Thanks. I will try that. My concern is I have had this server up for about a 1 1/2 years and never had a problem before. Quote Link to comment
okhomer
I was able to get it to load with an IP address plugging it into a USB2 port. I managed to get the log file to save to the flash drive. Still was not able to pull up the dash board.. syslog-2020-9-29.txt Edited September 29, 2020 by okhomer Quote Link to comment
trurl
Do you have an attached keyboard and monitor? Can you boot in GUI mode? Quote Link to comment
trurl
Also, do you have a current backup of flash drive? Quote Link to comment

okhomer
Thanks guys. I am not sure what changed but I am able to move it to a USB 2 port and it is working. Now I guess I need to find a USB 2 PCI card because my only usb 2 port is on the front of my PC. Quote Link to comment

If there is (and I would suspect that there is), you can get a bracket with USB sockets wired to a header plug.
