  1. I hope it just makes it until November for black Friday. If they go on sale again I'll have me a spare for sure.
  2. Gary, the result of the latest parity check came back with 0 errors. Thanks for all of your prompt replies. Stephen, I'm gonna ride with what I have atm but I'm going to keep getting me a new one on my mind. Thanks for your input also.
  3. The parity check with corrections has finished. "I" think it looks fine but I'm still new to all of this. Log and screen shot posted. Now it shows there were no errors found, but out beside the parity drive in the screen shot it shows errors. Is that just showing past errors? syslog.zip
  4. Thank you for your quick reply and your nickel's worth Hopefully all is well with and my parity check fixes everything. I checked on the drive and I still have warranty until 12/2014. When the parity check is done I'll report back here. Also, where do you see about the head retractions? Is that the Power-Off_Retract_Count?
  5. My server ran it's monthly parity check and found errors. I set it to run again and correct errors. When I did that, it made the web gui unresponsive. I was able to run tail -f /var/log/syslog and get enough info to know that I either had a loose cable or bad sata port. I powered down the server. Turns out I did have a lose cable. I got it back up and ran another parity check set to correct errors and it shows that it found 38k errors. The web gui shows out beside my parity drive that it has 1513 errors. I'm going to run another parity check with corrections but I'm not sure that is going to fix it. I'm attaching a syslog and smart report. I would really appreciate if someone with more knowledge could guide me in the right direction. syslog.zip smart_report.txt
  6. I've upgraded to rc11 and the server itself seems snappier. Let's see if this fixed my issues.
  7. My upgrade from rc8 went great. I was expecting problems. I followed the release notes and it was as if someone held my hand through the process. Thanks. I'm doing a parity check now.
  8. All my pc's are running XBMCBuntu. Thanks for the help though. I may still run this software on my windows pc's. I think what I'm going to do is look to upgrade to rc11. I'm fixing to start reading on that. My quick memtest shows nothing is wrong but I'm letting it continue to run.
  9. Ok, I dont have a syslog or anything to offer as at the moment I'm running a memtest. I believe I'm running v5.0-rc7. My problem is random. I use XBMC all over the house and I didnt have this problem while my file server was running windows. The two changes that happened on my setup were unraid and upgrading XBMC to the newest version. I've reinstalled last years version of XBMC and I'm still having the issue. You can be watching any video that is stored on the unraid and randomly it will stop, and say that it is buffering then start back. Sometimes it starts back quickly, sometimes it may be 30 seconds. Everything is ran on a gb switch on cat6 so bandwidth isnt an issue. Like I said, I dont have any syslogs or anything sense I'm running the memtest but I guess I'd just like to know if someone else has had an issue or someone could just throw out a suggestion. Like should I upgrade to the rc11.
  10. That doesn't sound right. Mine is rather snappy. At times it sits for a second then goes but for the most part it's snappy.
  11. I have a question about the active streams section, user names. I add user names to those fields and if I take down the server and bring it back up the user names are erased. Is there a way to fix this?
  12. I agree with both sides. When I first started looking at unraid I wanted to see pictures, it didnt look good, I stopped looking. My friend started using unraid and explained it to me a bit and how good it actually is and I bought it. Now that it is set up, it really doesnt matter how good it looks. Although, when I show it off to people, I want it to look good based on my first opinion of it.
  13. This was going yesterday also. I got 4 of these back before black Friday for 89.99. If I needed another, I would go on this for 119.99. These drives are very fast.
  14. I messed with this again now that I'm back and I get slightly faster speeds using sabnzbd than nzbget. I downloaded the same nzb file and the average was just a little higher. I'm using 10 connections from supernews and 20 connections from astraweb on both. My speed differences arent great like you've explained. Yours was in MB and mine is only in KB. So I'm only saying around 100-300 KB difference.
  15. I will. I'm gonna get with you when I get back from vacation.
  16. Oh btw, I gave nzbget a try and it was actually a little slower on the download speeds. It ran better and my unraid ran better. When I get back from my trip I'll get more involved in it.
  17. It's too bad the last 5 posts or so arent in their own thread about this. There has been some knowledge dropped here. I'm about to go on vacation but when I get back I think i'm going to try the nzbget.
  18. neilt0, you provided great info. I am now out of my 25GB block with astraweb and files that had previously failed worked while pulling from two servers. I have about 1TB of files in my SABNZBD que at the moment so I bought the 3 month for $20 package from Astraweb until I get my downloading crazy fulfilled. Once that happens, a friend and I are going to split the $50 1TB plan. If anyone is having missing parts that is causing your download to fail, follow neilt0's instructions, it's worth it. Thanks.
  19. That's my other issue with SuperNews. Way too much stuff that is complete on AW and not on SN. I found exactly the opposite. It's why I left AW. Both AW and GN(SN) have holes, they just don't coincide, which is a good thing -- that's why you use one service for fills. SN stats: Period Start Period End Days GB 08/21/2011 01/16/2013 514.14 39,761.89 Out of about 40TB, I've so far had to fill a few GB from about 10 posts. The incomplete posts were not incomplete when originally posted, but are old and decrepit... I did the same as you with astraweb but I only bought the 25GB package. I dont quite understand how this works. I'm using SABNZBD and I have my supernews setup as my primary and astraweb set up as my backup server/fill server. Is that all I do or is there something else that I need to do? I actually think I know the answer to this. I just needed to give sabnznd some time and it showed me. So I added the 25GB astraweb server as my backup server in sabnzbd and for the parts my supernews unlimited account didnt have, I notice that astraweb picked up the slack for the most part. This sounds awesome. I'm going to let it roll and be sure but if I continue getting good results, I'll probably get me the $50 block. Thanks neilt0 for your advice on this.

  21. Alright, I have wiped all mysql and newznab from my unraid and reinstalled. I dont backfill so it's not like anything is lost. I believe my problem is fixed although I now have one more problem which I'll try to figure out. If needed, I will come back to the community and get more help. Thanks, I couldnt have done this without you.
  22. So I think I figured out my problem with SABNZBD but I believe I created more problems. I only had an 80GB cache drive so I had my downloads set to the share so I believe that was bogging down everything according to some other posts I've read. I put in a bigger cache drive and tried to copy everything over and it all went pretty good except for mysql newznab stuff. I'm putting the mysql data path back to where it was now to see if I can get it up and going but if anyone has any suggestions on moving mysql data to the cache drive and getting this thing going, I think I'll be doing good for a lil while.
  23. Why not? They work for me!! Mine are set at 20 and 400 respectively and yes, they do work. My code: #!/bin/bash modprobe acpi-cpufreq modprobe cpufreq_ondemand echo ondemand > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor echo ondemand > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_governor echo ondemand > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/cpufreq/scaling_governor echo ondemand > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/scaling_governor echo 400 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/sampling_down_factor echo 20 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/up_threshold Does this have to be reset every time unraid is rebooted?
  24. So is there a way to force sabnzbd to slow its role in unraid? That way it wont use so much system resource when it's unpacking/repairing.
