  1. I'm trying to figure out how to have a script run when an external drive is plugged in to backup data. I cant find any documentation that describes this screen below. I looks like I should be able to add a script to the "Script Content" section. Is there a resource that describes this page?
  2. I have an Unassigned Device external drive that I've attached to my unraid server that I want to encrypt. Everything seems to work fine as I click the FORMAT button under UD on the MAIN screen. I select XFS-ENCRYPTED and it asked me for my password. I used a long 26 character password, which I have used with LUKS before. No error messages and the format goes through. I go into the settings for UD and set the disk password so unraid can mount it with no error message, but when I attempt to mount it will not mount. In the log settings is says this So I
  3. Hey guys. I had this issue and moved to the newest beta and it was fixed. You can also use the below command but its not persistant after boot. mount -o remount -o space_cache=v2 /mnt/cache I hope this helps
  4. I've read some more and have a better understanding why this is happening. I looked at the APP for Turbo Write Schedule and that looks interesting. But as the Mover is doing its work at midnight on this might not be an issue for me. Its only when I'm doing an intentional move that it becomes an issue. Thanks for the reply. Jay
  5. Thank you. Saw another post of someone suggesting a procedure to upgrade. Looks like I can just backup my USB and update my plugins and move forward.
  6. Same thing here. Writes to the cache as full speed (max spinning drive speed reads). Then when I hit the Mover button (below image) I only get 25MB/s. is this normal? the system isn't doing anything else such as a parity check. though the parity drive is active.
  7. I'm currently using 6.8.3 and I'm seeing the issue in docker where the loop2 process is doing mass writes to my cache while the server has no usage. One of the users suggested running this command (mount -o remount -o space_cache=v2 /mnt/cache) after boot, which has reduced my IO down on Loop2 to 0.49%. So a temporary fix. I'm told the new version 6.9.0-rc2 should fix this problem. Is there anything I should do prior to doing an upgrade other than backup my USB drive? I'm in the testing phase so I have not purchase a key yet. I am loving it so far.
  8. Guys, I'm having what appears to be a well known issue with my dockers writing a lot of data to my cache drive (GB per hour). I've seen some suggest its a BTRFS issue with the cache and suggested to reformat it to XFS. I've heard this issue was fixed in the beta 6.9.0-rc2? Is the beta stable enough to move to? I've seen others using it in the signature line. I've been very happy with unRaid so far, but I'm going to burn up this SSD in a month.
  9. Would you recommend just moving to the beta? the above command appears to help... i could add it to my crontab@reboot but seems like a bandaid fix.
  10. Sorry. Read to many posts and I’m “loop”y right now. see what I did there....
  11. I'm having the same issue as well. Was researching and posted to the below linked topic. I'm going to remove that docker and try a different Plex Docker Image. I add the repository which I think is directly from plex (https://github.com/plexinc/pms-docker). I originally thought it was a brtfs issue with the cache but it doesn't seem to be the problem... ? Any solutions on your end? https://forums.unraid.net/topic/98114-new-cache-pool-ssd-default-format-to-btrfs-i-want-xfs/?tab=comments#comment-929089
  12. EDIT: So [loop2] is somehow related to PLEX docker. If I stop the Plex docker the writes stop. I'm using an added Template Repository (https://github.com/plexinc/pms-docker). Maybe I should try another docker and see if it still has the same issue?
  13. Sorry to harp on this topic. I'm using 6.8.3 and I'm seeing a lot of writes on my SSD cache drive. Usual setup with some of my shares using the cache (mover) and my docker containers on the cache. I only have three dockers Plex, Unifi and Krusader. I installed iotop and am seeing writes in the 1GB/15min. I'm currently doing a move and am going to stop the cache on my shares and see what that produces. My cache is btrfs should i convert it to xfs, I only have one drive? I could move to the beta if it solves this issue. I'll insert a pic of my iotop output. The move is
  14. The fix above worked great for me. Thank you for the post. I'm not sure if I did something wrong in the setup of the container? I looks like the Controller gave the wrong IP to the AP. It had my container IP 172.x.x.x not the correct 192.168.x.x of the unRaid server. Should the Unifi container be a Bridge or a Host under Network? EDIT: I was poking around the Unifi software and saw the below settings for "overide inform host" is this related? (see below image)
  15. I believe if you add the CA cert to the root CA store the browser will see it as a trusted CA. I did this on Pfsense and its still functioning in firefox. I've linked the walk-through below. That one was easier as you make a CA in Pfsense then exported the root CA cert and imported it into the firefox trusted CAs. https://www.ceos3c.com/pfsense/pfsense-generate-ssl-certificate-https-pfsense/
  16. I'm trying to add the unraid self-signed certs to firefox in the Certificate Manager and push all webui logins to https. I've found the SSL cert in the Flash Drive but its in PEM format. I'm still learning in this area. I thought I was looking for the CA cert to put into Firefox. The PEM format has both the private and public key. I think the browser only needs the public key part to verify the server SSL cert? I don't need to use my own certs but would like to add the CA cert to my browser so it recognizes my server page. where do i find the unraid CA cert or can I mod
  17. Thank you trurl for the response. Seems to be working as expected now. Getting solid 112MB/s transfers over my network to the shares with no dropoff. What I would expect out of my 1GB network.
  18. Ok.... not sure. I didnt finish the dang video... i went in and disabled the VMs and Docker (set to NO) and hit the move command and now its cranking... I know I'm a newb at unRaid, not sure what the deal was... I believe for all my standard shares that I want to use the cache drive for "Yes" is the setting for the cache? this sounds like the correct setting. "Prefer" was just for my VMs and Docker containers. I assume that the "!" (attached photo) triangle in my Shares tab have those shares Domain, Appdata and System as a concern because they no longer exi
  19. I watched the video from spaceinvaderone, very good videos by the way, to add my cache to the server. I first build the system with only the array active and moved all my data to it. Then I setup my dockers I wanted and last night set up my parity drive. This was done in about 9hrs. Now I wanted to add my cache, a SSD 500GB parity drive. I checked the recommend shares (appdata, system and domains) to make sure they were set to Prefer, which they were. I started the array, formatted the SDD, then invoked the mover. My appdata is moving over but super slow. Its been 15min and I only have 900MB tr
  20. Thanks for the reply Hoopster! For that price I'm moving forward.
  21. I was looking through eBay and found some cards, like the one below, that looked like they are already have been flashed in IT MODE. Any concerns with purchasing one like this? Found some spec online that show the below card is PCI-E GEN2, I'm guessing it would be compatible with a PCI-E GEN1 port? https://www.ebay.com/itm/LSI-9220-8i-IBM-M1015-SAS-P20-IT-Mode-For-ZFS-FreeNAS-unRAID-6Gbps-SAS-HBA-US/132628525944?hash=item1ee146b378:g:9XgAAOSwLEhdS~IC
  22. This is a great idea/value. I found this one on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/p/1403879837 I have an older system that only has 4 sata2 ports on it. I could use another couple ports too keep it going until i commit to a new build. Does the referenced card have to be cross flashed? If so could you recommend a walk though for it? I found a couple sites but if you have a suggestion that would be great.
