Yes connecting to unraid by IPaddress works fine from 2 win 10 pc MY 2003 server can connect by name. I saw others had added it for fix samba issues. It was not working before I added it and rebooted.

An update here. I can ping unraid by name 'tower' and get a response. I can connect to the server by ip address and open and share or directory. Still multiple PCs will not connect by name. either existing mapped drives or browser. I have tried local master on and off and no change. Ideas ?

What part changed in Unraid that we have to change out desktops to match it. Is unraid only using samba 1.0 and that need to be enabled? I understand that Micro$oft is turning of smb 1.0 on new installs. I thought unraid was using the latest smb .

Thank you for the response. I will do that too I set the server back to 6.5.3 and samba is working great now. No other configuration changes were made. I saw others have trouble connecting to samba as well. The clients are win10 1803 and win10 1709 with all patches.

I upgraded from 6.5.3 and 6.6.1 . My samba will not allow connects from my systems. I am using workgroups on unraid. I also have a 2003 windows server running and using it for domain logins. syslog.txt libvirt.txt share.cfg network.cfg domain.cfg

Software wise, I use EMBY media center with KODI players. Emby get the metadata Playon to get new media from online sites (netflix hulu...) I use Nextcloud for a inside private free cloud storage and things. Check out https://www.techandme.se for some prebuilt VMs. john

I am always failing on the password part. It also has an error message for fontconfig warning: ignoring C.UTF-8: not a valid language tag where do I set that and to what?

I recently upgrade from unraid 6.5.1. The VM disk is a back from a few weeks ago that was running great on 6.5.1. Is there a different in the network vertio that would cause this?

I am running the latest version of unraid. I have several VMs running. One win10 and one ubunto 17.10 system. They load the network fine. I am using bridge mode. I also have a nextcloud VM running on it that the network is not being loaded. It is using debian 16.04. I have tried the different options in and the network interfaces never load. ifconfig shows local loop and this is it.

I use an untangle next gen firewall. The paid version now $50 year for all apps for home use. I have 3 networks in it wan, lan and wifi.. All wifi devices but mine get the net but not the lan. It is running on a cheap 5 watt celeron 4 core micro itx system. Ads, viruses, unwanted countries, unwanted applications, and unwanted sites by category blocked. Great reports and network tunneling like tunnel bear for the whole lan. john

Untangle has a next generation firewall for home users now. I protects all the computers from bad evil sites as well blocking inbound connections. The home version is only 50 year for all modules. As it turned out, the drive was xfs. Changing the drive back to xfs allowed all the data to be seen. I headed the warning of do not hit format when things were not right. Another question How to I copy the data of the drive so that I can convert to btrfs ? ? This would be so I could add other drives in the cache. john

I as going to add another drive to cache. I believe it was set for btfs I set it to 2 drives and configured a second drive. The system did warm me that it would remove the existing filesystem on it. I just got an email from Crashplan saying home edition is ending next year. Small business is $10 month per computer OUCH. I use nextcloud now as a premade VM and agents for phone, desktops and web browser support. john

I have tried cirrus as well. It is what it is currently set for. I have taking a running VM from virtual box, shutdown the vm then copied the file to unraid and tried to start. I have tried converting the file to a KVM style file all with no luck. John

It is still not working for me. I have tried nearly every combo that I can think of to make this work. It say booting from harddisk and just sits there. Bob it is not WHS but full 2003 server standard edition. If I setup the VMDK as a secondary drive in a Win10 then it works great and is fully accessible. John

I just did an upgrade to mine. I choose an z170 mother board and a 6700k proc. 4 Emby streams or playon transcoding. I passed a 710 video card and a usb nec based add on card. 2 sata controllers with 14 drives and counting. The last parity check ran at 90 meg bytes per sec. John

I might try this as I have an virtualbox machine running that I want to move to unraid. I have tried and can not get the VM to boot KVM at all. I this might work. Kinda killing a fly with a sledge hammer. john
