  1. Is there a way to update from the latest stable version to the beta version without uninstalling and losing all my settings?
  2. To answer the last question first I started using NFS with Windows 11 because of my issues with SMB. It’s not a new install- and I’m using my NAS solely as a media server. I think this problem started happening one or two updates ago, maybe when I first started going the non-stable branch route. I’m also having issues with the File Manager pluggin- I’m not sure if all these problems are related. I’ll take some screenshots later- I’m also unsure if all my issues are solely with files created thr NZBGet docker. I’ll try and write some files to the NAS from another source and see if they’re visible over SMB. The file names have no special characters and appear to be completely valid.
  3. Tried that and it seems to make no difference even if everything on each share/drive is full permissions, all new files/folders just aren’t seen on all my shares.
  4. Not sure what’s happening here- I see the files on my shares from the Unraid GUI and are even able to copy them with the File Manager, but whenever I look at my SMB share from another device I only see older files. Any ideas? Also, probably a separate issue, but all of a sudden from Windows 11 on my NFS shares I am getting a “Need permission from Everybody” error when I try to copy files. monster-diagnostics-20230625-1315.zip
  5. DFM is totally borked for me under 6.12. Anything I do hangs up DFM- if I try to refresh the webgui takes a while to reload- sometimes the action (ie- rename) is completed, other times not. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling DFM, but it didn’t help. Anyone else experiencing this?
  6. I want to give you a huge thanks here- I don't really use my UnRaid server other than to manage a lot of rather large media files, and without the internal file utility it is pretty much useless to me. Rather than transfer one file at a time, wait 15mins, then transfer another I can setup all my jobs at once and walk away. This is what makes the UnRaid community special- on other NAS suites I'd have to run a docker to do the same thing, and this is so much easier and takes up a lot less resources.
  7. What does the "sparse" option do?
  8. I recently swapped out a ConnectX3 to a Solarflare S7120. The Solarflare works fine, both ports showed up but now I'm having problems with DNS resolving properly. I tried swapping ETH0 and ETH1 multiple times, I'm pretty sure I have it configured properly. It was working fine for a little while after I changed the port's MTU to 9000, but I powered down and now I'm having some strange problem. On one port I can access Unraid through http://monster.local/ on the other port I can access my server through http://192.168.50.2/ (static address). Only the port that works with //monster.local can resolve DNS, but that's not particularly helpful because I need the static address to work so I can get Docker working properly (among other things). I can see on my router's status page that ETH0 is showing up as 192.168.50.2 (but can't be accessed) and (even more strange) there's a dynamic Unraid entry for 192.168.50.238 that I think is the MAC address of the ConnectX3 (which isn't in my setup at all anymore). It could be something else, but that MAC address is definitely not currently in my setup. Any ideas? BTW, I picked up the Solarflare for $15 off eBay and I actually think it's slightly faster on my setup than the ConnectX3 (which cost me double). monster-diagnostics-20230131-2343.zip
  9. Smart extended test seemed to be OK. I disconnected the Mediasonic external drive bay, rebooted, and now everything looks good. I suspect it's the USB controller. It's been a bit flakey and as I said it takes forever to boot/shutdown with the drive bay connected. The disabled drive is empty, all of my data is still on Disk 1, it's not even full yet. Should I reconstruct the array anyways? What's the best way to re-enable the drive? monster-diagnostics-20221101-1548.zip
  10. I noticed that. I think it's just the tower in general. Old Lenovo setup- I upgraded to a Seasonic 650W PS which should be more than enough for 4 drives and I run them right off the PS. I'll recheck, I don't think I'm splitting them. It's possible those drives are on the same power cable. I don't expect there is anything wrong with the drives. It might have something to do with the SATA/USB controller- it takes forever for the system to post when the USB bay is plugged in. Extended SMART self test on the drive seem to be working now so I'm running it. I'm going to upgrade my main PC eventually and migrate my Unraid array to my old one.
  11. Disk 3 in my array is disabled. It's a relatively new array, with new drives, and SMART shows them all to be healthy- although the SMART Extended test seems to end within secs of me starting, I'm not sure why. It could be the controller, I'm not sure. The Unassigned Devices are in a USB Mediasonic drive bay I intend on copying over, I don't think that would cause a problem but the bay isn't always recognized by the array on reboot for some reason. monster-diagnostics-20221101-0721.zip
  12. I agree, this app is great. It's a nice and quick way of transfering files within the NAS. I use my Unraid setup as a very basic media server so I use this plugin quite a lot to move files around.
  13. Would really like a queue option- so you can add multiple jobs to the queue after the first has started rather than just one action at a time.
  14. New build, I have Pairty set for the 1st of the month and I notice it’s been “stuck” around 35% for the last few days. I have no error messages, it just seems to be paused there for whatever reason. How do I resolve this?
  15. Having the same exact issue. FIOS Gigabit connection, downloads to my Win10 machine ~110MB/s, yet to my new Unraid build I'm limited to 60MB/s with dockers writing to an NVME drive. 6.10.0-rc2. New build. I haven't paid for a license yet- I really like Unraid, but if I can't resolve this issue in the 5 days left of my free trial I'll have to move on to something else.
  16. Maxing out connections on both SAB and NZBGet- I'm using 2 newsservers on different backbones with 50 connections each . On my Gigabit connection it can handle it- I tried using less but I maximize transfer speed by using all of them. It seems like my setup does slightly better with SAB. I just benchmarked all my drives using the DiskSpeed docker- my motherboard is using the old C226 chipset so I have to use a PCIe NVME controller but I'm getting 2500MB/s writes so there is definitely something else going on. I must have configured it wrong. Learning process.
  17. New setup, just trying to get everything working properly. I have a FIOS gigabit connection, and installed both Sabnzbd and NZBGet dockers and both seem to be limited to 60MB/s. Downloads on my PC typically max out at ~110MB/s. I'm downloading to a SSD/NVME on both systems so that's not the issue. I must have something else going on. With the speedtest docker it reports I'm maxing out the connection to my Unraid box with ~950/980 so that's not it either. I realize it's an older setup (Xeon e3-1226-v3) but AFAIK that shouldn't keep my download speeds from maxing out. Any ideas would be really helpful. I plan to buy a license as soon as I make sure everything's working OK. Edit- I think I have my folders setup improperly and I'm writing to the array, not to cache? monster-diagnostics-20220214-1540.zip
  18. Ok, been getting conflicting info on how to set up a share, that’s why I asked. Right now I’ve been following a rather popular series of YouTube videos that constraining each share to an individual drive and then adding drives as you need is the best way to extend the life of the drives. I thought using the split level option would be best for TV Shows which would make searching through multiple seasons in sub folders quicker?
  19. On this attempt I tried setting up each share to limit to a single drive, this is new to me so please have patience. It's a learning experience. I'm not sure if it's better to restrict media to a single drive for each share or to have it span the entire array? Ultimately what I'd like to do is have SABNZBD download media automatically to the cache and then move everything over nightly. unraid-diagnostics-20220208-0911.zip
  20. I’ve read a lot and am starting to get a bit overwhelmed so I thought it would be easier just to ask: So I decided using a little prebuilt NAS to run Unraid was inadequate so decided to get something a little better. I picked up a used Lenovo P300 Thinkstation w/Xeon v3-1226 e3 and 12GB or ram off eBay for $75, which seems to hit my purposes for a media server. I am using 4 shucked 14TB WD drives in my array (1 for parity), with a cheap 2TB nvme drive as a cache. Whenever I setup 3 shares this is the problem I come up with: My first share always shows 41.7TB free with 13.9TB available. My other 2 shares always show 13.9TB free with 13.9TB available regardless of how I set it up. If I try to set up my second share to use the third disk only it will say it’s outside the range of available shares. Im a bit confused- I thought when setting up a share I could have it span all my drives if I want, but for some reason I don’t seem to be allowed to do this. Each share seems to be limited to the corresponding drive in the order I setup the share regardless if I tell it to span the array or not. Also, what’s the best way of setting up a media server’s share? I am basically just going to be putting rips of movies and TV shows on my setup, so I thought limiting each share (ie:Movies, TV Shows, Anime) to a single drive would be best to keep the drives from spinning up too much, rather than spreading content across all 3 drives?
  21. What I’d like to do is pick up a couple of cheap 10gbe nics off eBay and wire them directly from my Windows PC to my Unraid setup. I’d use the 2nd Ethernet gigabit ports in each setup normally. This way I’d be able to maximize my transfers from my PC to my NAS rather than be stuck with my home gigabit network. Am I thinking about this properly? My PC and Nas are close to each other and I’m thinking that wiring them directly would be relatively easy without being limited to my home gigabit network.
  22. If you look at that link I posted Azxiana appears to be running a licensed version off it.
  23. The LenovoEMC PX4-400D was originally a NAS running a modified BIOS, so there is no way to turn off the internal flash memory (at least none that I could find). I already had the motherboard out to upgrade the ram to 8GB and install a PCIE NVME controller (yes, it has a PCI-E slot), and while it might have a header somewhere for the internal flash somewhere on the motherboard, I wouldn't know where it was. The motherboard doesn't seem to be one that was commercially sold. If I could get it to boot Unraid off the internal flash it would solve a lot of problems for me. I have no idea how Azxiana did it without encountering the same error. I tried contacting her a few times but she hasn't responded.
  24. It's embedded memory. https://azxiana.io/2020/10/27/building-a-home-nas-for-163-usd/ I'm trying to boot from it following this guide but when I get to the point when I'm supposed to restore the boot block it won't let me do it (says files aren't there, they are). I think it has something to do with running a linux program off a Fat32 drive.
  25. I have a whole bunch of topics to address with my Lenovo PX4-400D NAS but I'll do it one topic at a time. Is there a way to stop UNRAID from seeing the it's 1GB internal flash drive? I want to buy the Basic package but it's taking up one of my 6 valuable device slots. It's showing up as: Name: Dev 1 Identification: _USB_DISK_2.0_65003C1BAA4A2A08-0:0 (sdb) It's an unassigned device but it's getting just as many reads (millions) as the drives assigned to my array. I suppose I can eventually figure a way to boot UNRAID from it, but it's really too small to do anything with. Currently I'm booting off a 64GB USB 3.0 flashdrive.
