  1. Not right away. The new 8, was to get (2) 3s out of the array; and my new case has space for 8 drives (the 8T, allowed me to go from 9 drives to 8). Eventually, sure; but not until after I move to the new case...and then there is need. I won't. I put it in, going to start up...but no assignments or starting of array. I can run a diagnostic that way, yes?
  2. I'm going to shut down...insert "9" back in. Start up, but not touch sh*t...until YOU tell me where to take it from there. Thx,
  3. Because I didn't know, that XFS was "better" than reiserfs. And disk9, is "outside" the bays 🤷‍♂️
  4. - Ran "fresh" parity check - Stopped array - Unassigned fullest 3T disk - Started array - Stopped array - Assigned new 8T, into fullest 3T slot - Start array (re-build, another parity check) - Stopped array - Then "copied" from another 3T, to the new 8T I stopped the array...unassigned 430RX. Started array, so it would "forget" about it. Put the new 8T in, and assigned it to the same "spot" (SDG); and started the array. I think, the missing "9"...is the disk (55926) I wanted to copy; thought I did, and therefore pulled it (and haven't put it back in yet). Maybe after the failed copy...which I didn't think had failed; I just pulled 55926 (array down, and powered-off of course), and didn't unassign it?? For now...should I just put 55926 back in, and run a diagnostic (according to however you direct me)? I do think 45HCW replaced 430RX correctly.
  5. I could put "9" back in; that's the failed to-be-copied drive. I just can't put 430RX (the "replaced" drive back in...unless that Cache option will work). Thanks for your help and patience.
  6. I think "drive9"...is the one, not running in the bays (on break-out cables).
  7. Is pulling my Cache SSD an option (for that 10th spot)?
  8. My best recollection, is when I put the new drive in...430RX was on 9?
  9. Any chance, of putting the (9) original drives back in...unassigned; and run a diagnostic. Then, swap out (1) "original" for the new; I assume stay unassigned...and run a 2nd diagnostic??
  10. I don't think so trurl. I was doing all this, before moving to a new case...because it appears the bottom (4) hot-swap bays...of my (12)...aren't working. So...I'm trying to get (9) drives, down to (8) for a new case. I have (8) in hot-swap bays...with break-out cables; and that 9th, for now, running on SATA from the board and power. If there's no other way, I'll check if I could run a 10th...all at once.
  11. Yes; and let me elaborate... 430RX was removed from the array, and replaced with 45HCW (and I still have 430RX, untouched since it was pulled). I also have 55926...which I thought I had copied to 45HCW; but which obviously didn't take (and I too, have that...and did not do a move data from it; but a copy. Point being, even though it didn't work; as opposed to a failed move...it was failed copy. Therefore...55926, should be exactly as I pulled it. TY,
  12. 45HCW (8T), replaced 430RX (3T). 55926 (3T) is the drive, I wanted to copy to 45HCW...after it replaced 430RX (with the procedure, documented above). I will sit tight and wait. TY
  13. I also just noticed this... I was thinking, 430RX...was the to-be-copied drive; but it's actually the drive, the new 8T (45HCW) replaced. Just FYI.
  14. So...NewEgg PSU calculator, says I only "need"...around 600W I guess I'm looking at these (3) SeaSonic. 750 is only ~$18 more, than the 550. No brainer?
  15. Yeah; I didn't even look closely enough, at a simple indicator. This is the new 8T...and it should have more like 5+T used; the almost 3T, from the drive it replaced...and like 2.5 that I was trying to copy. So...to-be-copied drive back in, and try unBALANCE again?
  16. I know; and I was super surprised. I thought about asking; but I thought...well, data just "within the array" or something. I didn't want to seem stupid...and honestly; it seemed pretty straight-forward. What's done is done. So...even though the data from the "copied" 3T disk, is still intact; I have since, written new data to the array. Nothing I would miss, or couldn't re-write; but at this point...have I likely screwed things up so bad, it's unrecoverable??
  17. "Why do you think that?" Because I don't shizz, about PSUs 😁😔 "According to the product page on the Gamemax website, the case will accommodate ATX PSU up to 200mm length so as long as the PSU you get is shorter than that, it should fit." Yeah; I looked at that exact pic. While the length is outlined...and easy enough to check specs, and make sure you don't exceed; it was the width that concerned me. Those PSUs, just look so "square", and bulky; and "bigger" than what would fir in that "shroud". Glad to know it should be easy enough. Since we're weighing-in...anyone have a specific recommendation??
  18. Yikes! I felt like I did it correctly. Picked my from and to disks (have to be a real idiot, to not understand that). Did a dry run, which came back "successful". Now...I did do a COPY, not MOVE; if that makes a difference. So, that disk is still intact. Here's what I did...so we can see, if I need to re-trace my steps; how to do so... - Ran "fresh" parity check - Stopped array - Unassigned fullest 3T disk - Started array - Stopped array - Assigned new 8T, into fullest 3T slot - Start array (re-build, another parity check) - Stopped array - Then "copied" from another 3T, to the new 8T - And I think it's another parity check (that'll be done, by the time I get home from work this evening EST)
  19. So...I'm moving my build, to a Gamemax Silent Titan. I don't know shizz, about power-supplies. My old case (Norco RPC-2212), was easy: just a 1u Server unit. But I'm not sure what do here; given the size limitation of the PSU area I need power, for (10) SATA. Obviously, that's not a tall order https://pangoly.com/en/hardware/psu/sata-connectors/10 Those just don't look like they fit?
  20. I think I'm in the home-s t r e t c h. 2 things: 1) This is a great community. I'm not a "power-user", and admittedly...only come here, when I often have what others might consider, a simple question. I do Google...and try to search the Forum the best I can...before posting. But as I said earlier...sooo much info; and a lot of it changes with time, and updates. Can't be too careful, lest you make a dumb mistake and lose precious files. For the most part...advice and procedures, are offered up without ridicule. Thank you! 2) That unBALANCE thing is awesome!! 25s, to transfer 2.45T of data!? Well done. I'll [SOLVE] as soon as I've finished.
