  1. I'll take a stab at this one and try and help if I can .... I don't know if your MySQL Library is accessible / running given you're in safe mode. Could this all be because you are in Safe Mode (e.g. expecting things to run normally when you're troubleshooting another issue). What makes you think it is corrupted - are there any logs (MySQL or XBMC) to support that? Booting XBMC into debug mode would also help you isolate this. However I have experienced similar to what you are saying. If none of the above and it was me I'd be thinking that you are experiencing this because XBMC is trying to do a Library Update or network issues connecting to the MySQL DB or downloading fan art/info for new shows. I have noticed (especially on slower machines / android boxes) that while the update is running (e.g on boot - as lots of people do - which if you do you might want to switch off while issues are resolved) the library can become unavailable and takes you to the Videos menu even when you click on Movies or TV Shows Tab. As you say, you can still select the file you want manually accessing the share but just not through the library. Also, do you get any buffering from the shares when playing the files direct from the share? Network?
  2. OK, after some experimenting I realise what is going on. It is as I say below, because the share is effectively using the cache drive that is why this calculation is being made. I added a file to my documents share (effectively putting the additional file on the Cache Drive) and went back and had a look at the shares tab. Low and behold the yellow ball indicating that the Cache drive contains files for the share (as expected) and the available space for that share has increased by the amount that is currently available on the Cache drive (just like the media share). I also realised I could hit the "Compute" link and that too indicated that the Cache drive was being used in the calculation for available space. I find this an interesting implementation if it is by design. If not I wonder again if this is a bug in either Unraid or Dynamix?
  3. Glad I could help a little. I don't think that you will need anything in that link at all. When you add a share you are asked how you want to export it and NFS should be an option. As for adding the share to Plex (and here is where I am not sure because I don't use it) but I would assume there is an option in the Plex interface to select NFS shares as an source. Certainly there is in XBMC. E.g. in XBMC I do this: Add Files Select Source as NFS Shares *Discoverable NFS Shares on my network are displayed in a list of which the Unraid ones I have setup are there* Select the appropriate folder in the share Click OK Like I said above, given Plex is more of a "commercial" piece of software I have to assume they have a way in their interface for easily selecting an NFS source. Maybe they even make it transparent to the user.
  4. I was reading your post I did not understand what the above meant - So I shall try and guess. I assume you have Plex and OpenVPN running on your Unraid box (via a PLG or via Docker I guess). I also assume you have shares setup in Unraid and have them exported using either SMB or NFS. If that is the case then it should be a simple case of adding the share to Plex. See here: https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/topic/135447-adding-unraid-network-share-to-pms/ By the by, I find I get better performance and reliability using NFS over SMB in XBMC not sure if it is the same in Plex.
  5. What version of the Beta are you using? Free, Plus or Pro? I am running 5.04 Pro and it shows: "4096 MB (max. 16 GB)". If you are using the free Plus version I wonder if it is a limitation of that version. Trying to make an educated guess. Other than that, 98% of 7234 allocated - sounds about right. EDIT - changed the post because I realised in the sig that the OP could not have been using the Free version given the setup in question has 4 x drives installed.
  6. Hi All, New Year New Issue! A few weeks back I added a new drive to my array. See here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=36833.0 My Disk Setup is shown here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-RnlzEU8DW9VURvUUVsSDBiUGM/view?usp=sharing All seemed good until now. I was just looking at my shares as I was thinking of adding another and I noticed that the available space on a few of my shares was less than what it should be. See here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-RnlzEU8DW9SHdXRnhqNEdlX1E/view?usp=sharing As you can see, the available space on the media share seems to be incorrect. There is only 2.30TB left on the Array. I can see how it is calculating the number. It appears to be adding the available space on the Cache Drive to the available space for the share. I thought at first that this must be by design, but then I realised that the other shares (which are set up the same) have their available space calculated correctly. Here are my share settings: Global Share Settings: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-RnlzEU8DW9R0dkN21MZUsxZm8/view?usp=sharing Media Share Settings: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-RnlzEU8DW9Y01Jc0JVVHlyR00/view?usp=sharing Documents Share Settings: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-RnlzEU8DW9OFoxckFERWNTRGs/view?usp=sharing The only other thing I thought was that because the share is effectively using the cache drive in that there are files on the cache drive that are awaiting the mover to be run in several hours time (which is not the case for the other shares) is this perhaps why this calculation is being made. My small fear is that there is something wrong with the setup and I did something wrong when moving my 3TB cache drive into the array and replacing the cache with a new 2TB drive as detailed in the link on the first line. Or is this a bug in either Unraid or Dynamix? Any comments good or bad are welcome. Thank you Daniel
  7. I used to live in Bradford Mate! You need to make the jump over here!
  8. All the way from Sunny Melbourne! Thanks for all your help and support this year!
  9. Perfectly explained. Thank you. I think for a backup server the SMR (if sufficiently cheaper to make a difference) drives will be fine as I'll never be in a position to experience the writes - even without a cache drive. If I ever move them into my production box i guess I'll just have to ensure this issue is always mitigated by a cache drive.
  10. I checked with my "local" supplier with no luck. Sometimes trying to get stuff in Australia is annoying!!! RE: ASRock Motherboard, Mini ITX DDR3 1600 LGA 1150 E3C226D2I Email 1 Hi Daniel, Unfortunately at this stage the distributer does not carry this board currently in stock, so we haven’t been able to source this. I would recommend contacting an enterprise or server specialist as they will likely be able to source a motherboard like this for you. Email 2 Hi Daniel, We don’t have any affiliates at the moment who we can specifically recommend I’m afraid! Regards,
  11. Oh, I thought these 10pTB drives were HGST drives. "In what can only be described as the hard drive equivalent of Game of Thrones, Western Digital’s HGST has announced the world’s first 10-terabyte hard drive: the helium-filled Ultrastar He10." I'm enthusiastic but still learning!!! Sorry!!
  12. http://www.extremetech.com/computing/189813-western-digital-unveils-worlds-first-10tb-hard-drive-helium-filled-shingled-recording I wonder how these will compare to the air filled Seagates and if their suitability for a nas device will equal or exceed the Seagates. WD also saying they are going to be cheaper p/TB than the Seagates too. Rig full of 10TB Drives in the not so distant future. Exciting times!!

  14. Good catch, thanks. I got far too excited far too quickly! LOL! I've just emailed them!
  15. Woohoo, found one!! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ASRock-E3C224D2I-Server-Motherboard-Intel-C224-Chipset-Socket-H3-LGA1150-Mini-IT-/161497958089?pt=AU_software&hash=item259a0746c9 Might have to just buy 2! :-)
  16. Fancy bringing one of those boards to Melbourne with you?
  17. Yeah, I think I like the R5 even better TBH. An upgrade to the R4 imho. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25_1055&products_id=29881&zenid=8a4632790da6d41db7f1ef6f70cd405a Opening the case and fiddling has never bothered me. It is my hobby really so I kind of like having to tinker every now and then. Don't tease me ! I'd love a little rack for the home, but I doubt I can justify the cost so Rackmounts are a no for me! I'm in frustration zone at the moment. I am researching a Mini-ITX setup that garycase suggested and found a sweet ASRock board to use (looking for one with ECC Memory too) and found this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157466 Sweet board - but as usual Australian suppliers don't have what I want and Newegg won't ship this item to Australia! Everytime I find what I want there are supply issues. Sigh.
  18. Ah, of course you guys are right. No escaping logic. I like those small cases that garaycase suggested. 5 (including one in the 5 1/2" bay) 8TB drives in there + Parity (6 Drives) is way enough for a backup server. I guess by the time I go beyond the need for 40TB of backup they will have released a higher capacity drive for a similar price which I can then buy and use the 8TB drives in my primary box to increase storage. I stumbled on this thread this morning: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=34096.45 If I upgrade my existing setup to that Fractal Design case over my Antec P193 (which I really don't like anymore) that gives me 12TB existing + 9 drive bays for expansion! Then wait for some community experience with the new 8TB shingle drives and throw them into the smaller case that garaycase suggested - Plenty. I think I got carried away with building a new uber rig without really thinking about it. I'm a 34 year old ATC Project Manager but I am a geek at heart. Sort of would have been cool though!
  19. I understand the apprehension. What I am referring to here is the back-up of my media library. I have my precious items (photo's, documents etc) on a usb drive and in the cloud and off site @ work. If the worst was to happen and I had to leave my home "right now" I would not be stopping to unplug and take with me my media library whether it be a big box on wheels or a 4 bay SFF box. Essentially I have near 10TB of media anyway so something remotley close to SFF would not be that easy to transport if it was a case of "get out now". Id love a portable scalable solution to back-up my ever expanding media collection but it is not feasible imho. Id get a 4 bay portable (ish) box today and then have to replace it as soon as I went past its capacity to store as much as my production server. So the back-up really needs to be as scalable as the production box i think - which pretty much means duplicate of sorts (i think anyway) and as soon as you start doing that you limit its portability. Maybe the all in one box is a mistake, but the project has only just begun so to speak!
  20. Hmm, you have got me thinking. I've just started reading about running Unraid in a virtualised environment as a guest. I am thinking: - 2 x Unraid Guests running on Esxi (on a SSD internally mounted) - Box running a nice powerful processor, plenty or RAM, a couple of controller cards (1 for each Unraid Guest) - 2 x Parity Drives inside 2 of the 3 5 1/2 " drive bays - 1 x Cache Drives inside the last of the 3 5 1/2 " drive bays (Figure I don't need a Cache Drive for Backup Guest) - 10 disks for each Unraid Guest Array on each side of the HDD cage in the case Would be nice to align this with the release of the new 8TB shingle drives (At least for the Array if not Cache and Parity). Result would be a Fully backed up 80TB Protected Array in one box. 1 Guest for Backup 1 Guest for Main! Thoughts: - Don't think I would need two PSU's in this installation. Unless I could somehow do something clever - which I can't think of one yet. - I guess I am going to have to have a real look at issues with Virtualisation too. From what I am reading you can't passthrough onboard SATA ports on a motherboard through to Esxi. Meaning I think all my SATA ports would have to be on dedicated Controllers. Unless something has changed.
  21. Hi All, Just some discussion ... I just watched the following review of the Lian Li PC-D8000. One thought from me - how awesome is this case! 20 HDD's!!!!! I found myself thinking about having 2 of them filled with disks. 1 main and 1 backup! No need to buy an Antec 1200 and fill it with 5in3's etc. /** Side Thought Then I thought about the possibility of running 2 protected arrays inside one Unraid install (I know this is not a feature of Unraid, but what if it was). Basically having my backup in the same machine. Not a backup to ensure against physical or natural disaster but I'm limited to having even 2 machines side by side anyway! End of Side Thought **/ Anyway, back to the case. Has anyone used one of these? Not sure how two PSU's would work together or if it would need a special mother board - this is sort of getting out of my league! Fun Though!
  22. The two additional fans have worked a treat. Bought two Antec TwoCool 120mm fans (What can I say, the case is an Antec p193 and the top fans are Antec TriCool 180mm - I like uniformity) and one of the 1 to 4 with molex splitters. Managed (with a bit of metal bending) to get the switches for fan control accessible when I open the front case and the dust guard too! While I was in there I decided to do some cable management which I figured would only help the air flow. Also changed the SATA ports around while playing with cables - love that Unraid doesn't care about that too!! The two 120mm fans blowing in over the drives and the two 180mm fans exhausting are working excellent. I've just engaged a Parity Check which has been running for half an hour so far. Temps are sat at ~28'C. It's a 30'C day outside too. Thanks to those who have input and helped me out. Very Happy.
  23. I hope things are working ok with you. Can't suggest anything because it is beyond my experience level. I would like to know however (when you get a minute) what interface you are running. I have Dynamix and unMenu installed and none look like that!?
  24. Hi guys, I know it might seem like a no brainer but would appreciate some community validation (from those who have the time) of my plan before I start buying parts. Thank you.
  25. All finished. Flexibility of Unraid demonstrated and I love it. Ended up putting in an old WD GREEN 2TB in the box as the 3TB I had there was a waste of space. Got plenty more space and saved having to spend some money! No expansion cards or 5in3's required yet either. No more SATA ports or SATA power cables left though, so it will happen! This is what I did .... Disabled Plugins (these all use Cache Drive), Pre Cleared 2TB Drive, Backup Cache Drive, Changed 3TB Cache Drive to data disk 4 and Selected 2TB WD GREEN as Cache Drive, Cleared Disk 4 using GUI, Reboot, Expanded Array, Reboot, Formatted Both Drives using GUI, Started Array, Reboot, Restored contents of Cache Drive from Backup. Re-enabled Plugins . Bobs your uncle. Notes: I had the following issues: Dynamix Webgui crashed three times. Once when I expanded the array and once when I had to format the drives. It appears all was still working in the background so all I had to do was restart the web server in a telnet session enough to allow me to ensure all was good and then clean reboot. When I added the new disk it changed my boot settings in the bios (to no longer be the USB drive) so I had to go in and change that back. Didn't appear to need to do / ask for a parity check after the expansion, which made me pause. Then I had to assume this was because there was no data on the 4th disk and therefore no need. All is good though, now have my array expanded from 9TB to 12TB. Happy Days.
