Hi, i´m running 6.0.1 and i manually move files from some disks (disc1,2,3,4) to one other disc (disc8). I moved many file from the first 3 disc, during the move process from disc4 , unraid crashed and i must hard reboot the machine. After reboot i could start the array but disc 1-4 show me not the correct free space. i see only the space before i move the files. On the other side on disc 8 where i mive the files , there show unraid me the correct size. The size after moving the files from disc 1-3. Should i make a parrity check to get the correct free space value from the other discs or what should i do ? Thanks

Hi, today i have installed 6.0.1. all runs fine at the moment, the only thing i´m searching for is the "mover" settings. I could swear that this settings was under settings/Global share settings, where i could say at what time the mover will run. Where could i find these feature now ?

Perhaps, LimeTech should get the Linux equivalent of make_bootable, include it in the plugin and run it as a part of the upgrade plugin. Hey that's a good idea I'll look into it. @limetech will there come a new plugin in the next days ? If yes i wait for the new plugin, if no then i try it with the old one

@RobJ thanks for your answer. I´m running v5 with Dynamix Addon. I think depth parameter will not bring anything for me beacuse the movie structure is server\movie\A-C\Alien\Alien.mkv . All the other dirs called picture, series, mp3 have a smaller deep than the movie dir. and the movie dir is the dir i want to cache. But when i understand you right with my bad english then i use in v5 only 1 gb for caching from my 8 gb memory ? Was it better for me and the caching to switch to v6 ? But why show me my system stat that from 8 gb there will be used 7 gb for cache ?

Hi, is there any chance to exclude subdirectorys ? My Problem is that i have only one share called "server" under this share i have the folder "movie, picture, mp3 ....." But now cachedirs want to cache all the files. But my memory is with 8 gb to small to cache all these files, so the disks will spun up if i click through my dirs

@bjp thanks for your answer again. I have started some tests with the 4 tb hdd but they dont finished. I have run as example the long test for 5 hours an he remaining 90 %. Same with smart test. I get only read failure. I put back the 1.5 tb hdd to the slot and here he finished the smart test in 1-2 minutes. Thanks eisi smart.txt

OK after waiting 18 hours i reboot the server because i could not connect to the webgui and to the share. After reboot i have the same problem. Then after 30 minutes i could connect to the webgui and the share was online. When i look in the webgui i see that the new 4tb disk have a red ball. I could connect with samba to the new disk and i could see my movies and i could start my movies on that new disk. In the logfile are errors , but i dont know what i must do ? Could anyone take a look and give me a hint ? Thanks syslog.zip

Hi, today i replace a 1,5 TB hdd with a 4tb hdd. After booting the server, unraid told me that disk 3 is wrong. What was the correct hdd i have replace. I select the new hdd for disk 3 and start the array. But then there is nothing. No webgui, no share. If i look through putty on the server i saw under /mnt/ disk 1 and 2 but no more disks. Is this normal or what can i do ? I dont want to restart the server, because i dont know what happens in the background. I´m using unraid 5 Could anyone give me a hint ? syslog.zip

Hi, i use a server with 1,5tb hdd only. Now i exand my server and bought a new 4 tb hdd for the parrity My mainboard is a older mainboard but it should handle 4tb hdd. After switching parrity disc and booting the server, unraid shows me a 4 tb and i assign the hdd to the parrity slot. After starting array unraid told me the a paarity rebuild / sync is starting and the time is 1200 minutes. This is a normal time for my unraid hardware , before with 1,5 tb hdd i have a time of about 600 minutes. After about 550 minutes unraid spin down all data hdd and after about 900 minutes unraid wrote in log file: Jan 11 05:35:15 Server kernel: md: sync done. time=50087sec Jan 11 05:35:15 Server kernel: md: recovery thread sync completion status: 0 Jan 11 05:50:21 Server kernel: mdcmd (62): spindown 0 i dont know now if unraid use the complete 4 tb disc space now or only 2.2tb because the check should have longer ? Hi, the topic says it all. At the moment i have only 1,5 tb hdds in my server, so my Default partition format is MBR:unaligned. But now i want to put 4 tb hdds in my server. First i want to change the parity disk, but as i know for 4tb hdd i must use mbr 4k. Must i now set mbr 4k in disk settings or how could i use my old 1,5 tb with some new 4 tb hdds ? Thanks Eisi

Hi, today i want to delete some files on my server, but i become the message "that i need the persmisson from "SERVER\nobody" ?? If i look at the file permission i see that there is a user SERVER/nobody with read/write permission but i dont have such a user I try to delete this files from my win7 pc with smb mounted share to unraid. The user have read/write permission. From telnet login with root i could delete this files. I run v5.0 and after upgrade i have run the permission script. Eisi

@all thanks for your help. I found th e error, as i build in the old controllers, on the 4 port controller get the raid 5 mode active. I dont know how this happens because i must create the set in bios of controller. After disable this set of 3 disk a parrity check corrects alle the errors. I have to be on the safe side deltes all the files i have copy to raid since the "old" controller is working.

Hi, sorry for reopen this thread, but the problem seems to be bigger After running a parity check with correct last day , the check found 4000 erros. I start a parity check direct after finish to see if there is any correcting, but in the first minutes the check found errors again Any hint for me how to find out what is wrong ? Could i do a reiserfs --check for all disk to see if there are errors ? Thanks for any help Eisi

@dgaschk thanks for your answer. The bios settings are ok, in bios himself i saw the usb stick and the usb stick was the first and only boot medium. Did you mean a smart status report or a short smart test ? Could i make a smart report with disk management in unmenu or must i use a specific command ?
