  1. I'm putting the board through its paces tomorrow, I know that most people are interested in that It did come with the latest BIOS and BMC installed.
  2. The Silverstone DS380 is pretty darn solid feeling in both weight and sturdiness for the price. It feels pretty roomy when you have the 3.5" hard drive cage out, but things get really, really tight in a hurry when you put it back in. I used 10" sata cables, 18" cables would get pretty clogged up without some management. Having a modular power supply helped reduce the clutter too. The hot swap trays are pretty cheesy, but functional. The fans are louder then they need to be, so I might switch them out. That being said, they aren't screamers by any stretch of the imagination. Overall, a really great, compact case for 8 hot swapped 3.5" hard drives! Some pictures:
  3. There are posts/threads spread out all over here about this board, but no "master thread." Here is the latest post: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=31967.msg300408#msg300408 I'm pretty sure that using a sata card, for whatever reason, just kills read/write performance. I can't find the posts on this, but they're around here somewhere. My C2550D4I is sitting in the box and is being installed this weekend. I'm updating here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=32647.0
  4. Well those golf ball dimples got to do something?! Guess I'll know in a couple days. Although my server is in a closet, I don't want it sounding like a tornado every time I go in there. Wonder if they have 3 or 4 pin connectors or just Molex. The box claims 3x 120mm 1200rpm @ 22dBA. Unless I get some free time, I won't know until this weekend how well the fancy dimples work
  5. Thanks for the tips, the power management/hot swap changes in bios were on my list, since I already read your earlier posts. As long as you don't stick a sata controller card in, the motherboard seems to be plenty speedy. I love the idea of a low power, silent, ecc, ipmi motherboard with 12 sata ports. It got delivered a few hours ago!
  6. Build list: Motherboard/Processor: ASRock C2550D4I Intel Avoton C2550 Case: Silverstone DS380 I'm just waiting on the motherboard to arrive. It should be going together this next weekend! I'll update with pictures and info as it starts going together.
  7. Yep! *EDIT: Follow my build here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=32647.0
  8. It's funny this came up, as I had my key replaced today. My old flash drive was ~4 years old and might have been hammered on by a few add-ins that whole time It took a few hours max, great service I'd say. I guess I should have replaced it with a card reader, but life is too short to worry about this kind of stuff. Here's to another 4 years!

    Norco 4224 Thread

Switch a couple and see what happens? I've seen a lot of magic smoke in my days
  10. Mine was a classic case of "have you tried turning it off and on again?" I had some nice unraid uptime going, but I gave a reboot a try and it fixed the queue problem right up!
  11. I tried that in safari, still not working. I downloaded and installed firefox for the first time, also not working.
  12. I spoke too soon, my queue won't show up at all. Just like dimh: I also found it here referenced here, but no ideas on how to fix it: http://forums.sabnzbd.org/index.php?topic=6912.0 In my log I found: [05/May/2011:21:35:30] HTTP Traceback (most recent call last): File "/boot/packages/SABnzbd-0.6.0/cherrypy/_cprequest.py", line 618, in respond cherrypy.response.body = self.handler() File "/boot/packages/SABnzbd-0.6.0/cherrypy/_cpdispatch.py", line 25, in __call__ return self.callable(*self.args, **self.kwargs) File "/boot/packages/SABnzbd-0.6.0/sabnzbd/interface.py", line 634, in index return template.respond() File "_boot_packages_SABnzbd_0_6_0_interfaces_Plush_templates_queue_tmpl.py", line 88, in respond File "/usr/lib/python2.6/locale.py", line 513, in setlocale return _setlocale(category, locale) Error: unsupported locale setting Any ideas on how to fix that? I'm using the 2.1 dependencies.
  13. The updates in the plush skin alone make it a worthy upgrade. Woah, why did I wait so long to upgrade?! The new GUI rocks The password list is also a nice update.

    Norco 4224 Thread

Yeah, I like my Norco, functionally, but the QA is...questionable. The Norco price is right, but the Supermico's sure are nicer.
  15. I knew I had a picture up somewhere. It's tight, but they fit
  16. Yeah, they fit perfectly. I'm on my phone, so you'll have to search my past posts for the picture.
  17. I'm confused, since my Noctua 80mm fans fit onto the back of my 4224 without any problems. Do most 80mm fans not fit?

    Parity Check!

It is! I'm still trying to figure out an expansion plan, now that it is maxed out under unraid. I'm thinking about getting one of those HP microservers until >20 data drives or >2TB drives are supported..
  19. I sure hope they get supported soon, I'm ready to swap some 2TB's at these prices!

    Parity Check!

I walked in on a monthly parity check a few days ago, forgot how fun it looks http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/9527/cwh.mp4
  21. Up for sale are 4 Noctua NF-R8 80mm computer fans. They were used temporally for one month in my Norco 4224 build and are in excellent cosmetic and functional condition. They are very quiet fans. Everything originally in the box: screws, cables, instructions, is included. Please feel free to ask any questions!
