  1. It was only on the CC95 firmware that it happened.
  2. HPA on my board was definitely enabled by default. Interesting. Mine is Rev 1.6, latest firmware, and it is disabled by default.
  3. Yeah, I really wish I had picked up 2 while they were still being sold. Let me know if you find a source.
  4. This Gigabyte motherboard has HPA implemented so it is completely a no go with unRAID. Hmmm, I thought I saw someone on this board said he was using it just fine. Is there no way to disable the HPA on that board? I ask because my current Vista machine is using a Gigabyte board that I might eventually use to run an unRaid machine. It's perfect because it's got 8 SATA ports and 2x PCI-E 16x slots. It's really too bad that MBs don't have nearly the same amount of features that they used to. I think I bought my MB for less than $150 at the time when it first came out too. :'( That would be me The GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P is awesome for the 4224. 8 onboard SATA and 2 SASLP cards gets you 24. HPA is disabled by default. If you can pick one up cheaply, a good option.

  6. I've had two (retail boxes from Fry's) come with CC95.
  7. I flashed my CC95 drives to CC35, otherwise the Start_Stop_Count on the CC95's was increasing by a thousand every day. They just kept spinning up and down on CC95, CC35 fixed that problem. YMMV.
  8. It's working great and the transmisson-remote-gui finally let me move torrents off my laptop. What is the proper method of shutdown though? I always have to manually stop sabnzbd or I get the unmount loop of doom..
  9. I think you were right the first time? You can have: 1 Parity and 20 Data drives. The 4224 could max out at 1 Parity and 23 Data drives. 4220 does max out at 1 Parity and 19 Data drives.
  10. Yeah, I'm hoping for 2 extra data drives so we can fill the 4224's to capacity. Only 2 slots left until mine is maxed out with the current drive limits.
  11. /dev/sdh: Timing cached reads: 2598 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1299.41 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 324 MB in 3.00 seconds = 107.87 MB/sec
  12. From a Seagate ST32000542AS in my array to a Hitachi HTS725050A9A364 7200rpm 2.5" laptop drive I get a solid 45MB/sec copy. You're way low for just reading data.
  13. It's just recommended from my understanding. I had a few on CC32/CC34 that ran 24/7 for about a year, no problems.
  14. Nice, thanks! $129.00 shipped for two of them. Along with the two I got from New Egg a few days ago, it's an 8TB black friday/cyber monday! $269.00 shipped for 8TB
  15. Mine is closer to yours in terms of HD's. 15x Seagate 2TB LP's: Nov 3 22:55:32 Media kernel: md: using 1152k window, over a total of 1953514552 blocks. Nov 4 07:27:31 Media kernel: md: sync done. time=30719sec rate=63593K/sec
  16. This is storage related, and nutty. http://basanovich.livejournal.com/163813.html
  17. The board does not have HPA disabled by default. Never had any problems with power balancing the rails, just hooked everything up. Edit: That was a Typo! I meant to type that the board does not have HPA enabled by default. I never had any HPA issues.
  18. Having recently built a rackmount server, I'm selling my Antec Unraid server. It is completely ready to have 9 drive dropped in. This is the same hardware that has been running stable for the last year, minus the drives I just took out. Everything is included, even the sata cables, just drop your drives in, add a unraid usb drive and you're set! Included: All manuals, cables, screws, accessories, stickers, etc. Specs: Case: Antec 900. I purchased an additional drive cage from Antec to boost the number of drives it can hold from 6 to 9. Power Supply: Enermax Modu 82+ 525W, Modular. It comes with all the original cables, as well as an additional 3 port sata power connector, boosting the number of sata power connectors to 9. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 Processor: AMD Athlon 64 LE-1640 Ram: Transcend JETRAM 2GB 2 x 1GB DDR2 800 Drive Controller: Adaptec 1430SA PCI-E x4 $400.00 $300.00 shipped in the USA. It will all be packed and shipped in the original Antec box. Please feel free to ask questions! Money Order, Check, Paypal.

Look for this one Arctic Cooling Arctic F8 PWM, 80x80x25mm, 700-2000rpm, 47.6m³/h, 0.3 Sone This is a picture of the actual fan and connector. I don't think that a PWM fan would work?: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_VVVO3c8qoQc/TIcbdciidQI/AAAAAAAABP0/w1LszHVE_h4/s1600/5.JPG

Everything looks good, will give it a full parity check tonight. Partiy checks are a joy to watch, with all the blue activity lights going crazy The main fan plate is loud. I hope they get the 120mm solution done quickly. Does anybody know of a quiet 80mm fan with a 4 pin connector? If it has a 4 pin connector, I could just drop them right in.

I feel your pain. I just got most of my case switch done into the 4224, only to find that I couldn't insert a SFF-8087 cable into the very bottom row. After undoing everything, I found a solder glob on the inside of the connector. I'll try to get them to send another backplane asap. Will try to upload some pics of the mostly-completed server tomorrow.

I just got word that it shipped today, so I'd say it has a slim chance of getting here friday, most likely monday. I'll put pics up whenever it comes in!
