  1. I guess I posted this in the wrong forum and they directed me here. Could someone help troubleshoot this issue? I tried to mount the disk manually. @JorgeB helped me troubleshoot but sent me here for more support. Any thoughts? ## I have a brand new Western Digital Black 1TiB NVME drive in an Asus Hyper m.2 PCiE container. unRAID recognizes the drive and it will allow me to format it. I try to format it with XFS file system and according to the logs everything happens fine. But then the drive isn't mountable and my only options are to Start PreClear or Clear disk. 6. Sorry to necro this thread but when you say 'management of unraid should be behind ... vpn" can you tell me what you mean? like the only way to SSH into unraid is through a VPN connection? Are there any guides you could recommend for setting that up?
  7. The server is back up and everything appears to be operational except the docker service, which says "Docker service cannot be started". My cache drive appears to be totally full so I am invoking the mover to see if that sorts things out.
  8. Figured out one problem - the unRAID USB creator for Mac does not appear to actually work. It creates corrupt disks. The windows unRAID USB creator appears to work. The disk is booting to the 5 menu options "Lime Tech" but because of the way the 'restore' from backup zip worked, it wrote the backup directory as a separate directory instead of creating everything in the primary directory with 'syslinux'. So, it doesn't know from where to boot. I'm now re-creating the boot drive from scratch and I'll copy over the old 'config' folder. **fingers crossed** will update
  9. Trying a new USB drive to see if this works. Fingers-crossed. Edit: Tried a new key and getting the same non-bootable error.
  10. Restoring using the unraid usb creator doesn't work. Still getting the error. So I tried doing a fresh install and it doesn't work. Same error as above. I've checked BIOS settings and it's set to legacy boot. Fast boot is disabled. I've tried a different USB port. No good :<
  11. I was executing a bash script this morning and I noticed that when I listed the contents of the directory, which previously had executables in it (color coded) that they are all now 'grey' and there is a directory with the name "/ <-- quotation-forward-slash. See this post here as it was the same script and similar problem but it didn't affect the entire firesystem: https://www.reddit.com/r/unRAID/comments/17825wq/somehow_this_folder_got_created_and_i_have_no/ I'm really concerned because it appears to have affected every single directory in the system. All of the directories that used to be colored are now greyed out. How bad is this and can you recommend any way to fix this? I have a recent Appdata backup, which also backs up my flash drive too. I'm just a little concerned to do anything for fear of mucking it up fully. The contents of the array appear to be okay. But Docker containers are now throwing execution errors and won't open. Oh crumb. https://imgur.com/a/ofvAiWL Edit: the docker service now fails to start after rebooting the system Edit2: Restoring the flash drive from last night's back up using the UnRAID USB creator (local file) has not worked. The system is now saying "This is not a bootable disk. Please insert a bootable floppy and press any key to try again..." System: Running a SuperMicro X11SCL-F with an Intel Xeon 2126g and 64GB of RAM. Cache is on a 2TiB NVME. Two parity drives and 8 data disks.
  12. I had unRAID Connect installed but uninstalled it about two weeks. I happed to notice in 'htop' this morning that the API is still connecting and hitting resources. This shouldn't be the case. Any ideas why this is going on?
  13. And then when attempting to uninstall it, the uninstaller says it's not even installed. Odd.
  14. Tailscale Plugin seems to install but when going to settings, get a 404 server error (nginx) message. Totally weird, right?
  15. Ahoy! My unRAID has just started losing all network connectivity and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. It's been working fine for 6+ months with no issue. Heck, I even installed a pfSense router on an IntelNUC about a month ago and thought surely I would have dorked something up. But, no, worked flawlessly. All of a sudden today, I started noticing that qbittorrent stopped working. Curious I entered the console and 'curl ifconfig.io' only to receive nothing. Hmmm. Let me check nordlynx (CA). 'curl ifconfig.io' and nothing. Okay, fine, maybe it's these docker containers. Let me reset them. That didn't work. So I opened up a unRaid console window within unRAID and 'ping google.com' -- nada. That seems weird. So I reboot the server. This fixes everything for maybe 10 minutes. root@server_name:~# ping google.com ping: google.com: Name or service not known root@server_name:~# I tried everything above again and nada. Then I ssh into the server and ping Google, Yahoo and 1.1.1.1 and everything looks normal. But console within unRAID (html window) nada. I'm thoroughly confused. Plex seems to be working (locally) as far as I can tell. ping yahoo.com PING yahoo.com (74.6.231.21) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from media-router-fp74.prod.media.vip.ne1.yahoo.com (74.6.231.21): icmp_seq=1 ttl=46 time=27.1 ms ^C 64 bytes from 74.6.231.21: icmp_seq=2 ttl=46 time=29.6 ms --- yahoo.com ping statistics --- 2 packets transmitted, 2 received, 0% packet loss, time 1001ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 27.054/28.347/29.641/1.293 ms root@darkstar:~# ping google.com PING google.com (142.250.191.110) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from ord38s28-in-f14.1e100.net (142.250.191.110): icmp_seq=1 ttl=53 time=10.1 ms 64 bytes from ord38s28-in-f14.1e100.net (142.250.191.110): icmp_seq=2 ttl=53 time=11.9 ms ^ C64 bytes from 142.250.191.110: icmp_seq=3 ttl=53 time=9.77 ms --- google.com ping statistics --- 3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 2005ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 9.768/10.610/11.913/0.934 ms root@darkstar:~# ping 1.1.1.1 PING 1.1.1.1 (1.1.1.1) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=52 time=14.2 ms 64 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=52 time=12.8 ms 64 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=52 time=16.6 ms 64 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=4 ttl=52 time=12.9 ms 64 bytes from 1.1.1.1: icmp_seq=5 ttl=52 time=13.5 ms ^C --- 1.1.1.1 ping statistics --- 5 packets transmitted, 5 received, 0% packet loss, time 4009ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 12.791/13.980/16.569/1.387 ms Any thoughts on what I can do to troubleshoot?
  16. (facepalm) - I forgot to hit apply. My bad for wasting time. On another note, do you know if it's possible to change the tweak settings so that it doesn't turn off the GPU?
  17. Hello, I have the latest version of NerdTools installed on the latest stable branch of unRAID. I recently installed PowerTop and enabled it. But when I try to uninstall PowerTop but toggling it to 'off' in NerdTools and rebooting. It doesn't actually 'uninstall'. In fact, the app is still viable and works through shell. I can issue 'powertop' command and it brings up the application. Any thoughts for how to truly remove it?
  18. Whew! Thanks. I thought that was the case but a small part of my brain was kind of nervous that it was any file that reached a certain age (like 1 year unwatched/modified) -- poof: Recycling Bin thinks "Nah he don't need that; delete!"
  19. I've rebooted and power top seems to still be installed. Since it resets every every cycle it's not doing it's 'mojo' to power down the system. the GPU is functional again in the system but as you can see from my post just above, nvidia-smi is constantly pinging the CPU.
  20. Sorry if this is covered. I did search but it wasn't immediately cleared. My question is about 'aged files'. Does aged files mean *only* those files that have been deleted and have 'aged' the value specified as 'aged'? I.e., I have a file that it 10 days old. But it's not marked for delete. Thus, Recycle Bin does nothing. Now I delete the file. Its deleted age is '0', tomorrow it's 1, etc until I get to 3, which is the trigger to delete 'Aged files'. This is my understanding. Is that the actual implementation ?
  21. I successfully appear to have removed power top. Now nvidia-smi isn't taking a single core to 100% and rotating among those cores to 100% ever few seconds. But, it is still running anywhere from 15-30% of a single CPU core every few seconds.
  22. No custom scripts installed to my knowledge. The GPU was working before when transcoding was necessary. I cannot find any content that requires transcoding right now to test it but the card appears to be persistently 'offline'. I tried uninstalled PowerTop from NerdTools but toggling it to 'off' but it's not uninstalling. Any ideas?
  23. So sorry! I always forget diagnostics. Here you go along with my thanks for all your excellent support of our community. darkstar-diagnostics-20230801-0646.zip
  24. Hello, Recently after installing power top and tips and tweaks, I noticed that nvidia-smi is constantly pinging various cores of my CPU. And Ia also notice that the GPU is no longer detected by Nvidia-driver or nvidia-smi if I run the command in shell. Any thoughts?
