New 8TB Parity HDD's Required
Hi, Any 'go to' HDD's at the moment, or all much the same? All of my drives are WD Blue and Greens at present, happy to change brand if need be cheers

Red X On 1 Of 2 Parity Drives
I will order 2 new HDD, its Friday here now so I wont get them till next week, couple of days to preclear. All of the sata ports are full, this MB was highly recommended for unRaid when I put this server together, nearly 8 years ago, its perplexing that it would suddenly be an issue. Whilst I wait for new HDD's to arrive, do you see an issue with using the parity swap procedure( https://wiki.unraid.net/The_parity_swap_procedure ) but just re-assigning the old drives in their current position, and starting the array to see if they rebuild?

Red X On 1 Of 2 Parity Drives
'Intel ICH9R SATA 3.0Gbps Controller' is the only mention of controller for the MB as seen here, https://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/ATOM/ICH9/X7SPA-HF-D525.cfm All of the cables look fine, we haven't had any power outages or blackouts lately, and the server hasn't been moved or fiddled with, its in a rack cabinet. The only thing that has been touched is the power button to turn it on, it turns off automatically. Can I update the version of unRaid to make the diagnostics better/easier? If so, is going from 6.2.2 to 6.10 a problem? Steps to follow?

Red X On 1 Of 2 Parity Drives
I would assume they are both using the Marvell controller, which they have done for years, whats the best way to check? I don't remember 'flashing' the MB, but vaguely remember 'flashing' the SASLP, checking cables now. is it safe to shutdown?

Red X On 1 Of 2 Parity Drives
I guess I'm using that version because normally I have no issues, so if it's not broken, I don't try to fix it. Both drives are coming off the motherboard.

Red X On 1 Of 2 Parity Drives
Not even an hour later and my 2nd parity has gone, firstly with a red X, I took the array 'off line' and its saying 'no device' for the 2nd parity. eek updated sys log attached tower-diagnostics-20210819-1313.zip

Red X On 1 Of 2 Parity Drives
Hi Folks, My server is fairly basic and I never really touch or change anything, it just chugs along. Today I was copying some data to my server (Win10 PC via Teracopy) when I noticed that the transfer had stalled, when I logged into Tower/Main there is a red X next to parity 1. So I stopped the copy, shut down the server(sorry forgot to get that sys log before shutting down), replaced the sata cable, re-sat the power cable to the HDD, then powered back up, same result, see attached sys log. SMART seems to be ok. WD Blue 6TB: WDC WD60EZRZ-00GZ5B1 WD-WXB1HB4LU1ZN is the one to look for. Thinking I should just replace it, or both the parity drives. The server is still running now, advice before proceeding please. tower-diagnostics-20210819-1210.zip

Unassigned Devices - Managing Disk Drives and Remote Shares Outside of The Unraid Array
Hi, How do I access a mounted drive from windows7? I can see the drive from network, but when I try to access the drive, a dialog box requiring user password pops up. Ive tried every combination of username and password but the same dialog box keeps popping up. In the unassigned device settings, I have select 'No' for 'Enabled SMB Security?' Ive googled all afternoon and can't get into the thing! Thanks Forget it....got into it

[Support] binhex - MiniDLNA
Don't use the same Container volume name twice. Call the second something like /MoreMedia Don't get the error but it also doesn't show the movies in the second path....only the ones in the /media path....mmmm....frustrating have you added in the second path to allow mindlna to scan it?, if you cant add multiple paths (cant remember if you can) then your only solution is to set /media to /mnt/user and then drill down to the common root folder that contains both media folders you want and scan that, if they are completely disparate then your only solution is to move them so they are under a common root folder and set that to /media and scan. I don't think you can scan more that 1 path because no matter what combination of paths/words I use it will only show one of them.

Tower cases with 5.25" drive bays top to bottom...
neither of these cases have 5.25" drive slots from the top to the bottom though, as the post title states Yes your right, but they do hold lots of drives which is what it is all about. Technically the Xclio doesn't have 5.25" drive slots top to bottom either, just saying.

Pimp Your Rig
Just 'upgraded' from Antec 300 to R3, see my sig for the finer details I say 'upgraded' because there is a few things I actually don't like, considering all the praise heaped on it, pretty disappointing. 1: really not much quieter( 2 x 120mm intake Noctua running at 600rpm + 140mm output antec on low) same as what I had on the Antec 300. 2: the 4th from the bottom and the top HDD aren't covered by the front fans so they don't really get any cooling affect, thats not mentioned in any reviews! really needs 140mm fans in the front. And one of the hdd trays was bent and a rubber missing, this would have been ex factory, as the box was unmarked/undamaged when I received it, we even unpacked it instore to confirm no physical damage(externally anyway). Didn't see the the bent tray till I'd already transfered everything over. I think this case will become my HTPC. Later

Where to shop for what?
Hey John, I hear you about the SuperMicro stuff, frustrating eh. Maybe an opportunity? I bet the Distributors are price gouging. Anyone in the US want to start a forwarding service to Aus for SuperMicro?

4 drives?! What next -- a lovely 2-drive Media Server? Ask and ye shall receive, http://dune-hd.com/hd_players/current/152-dune-hd-duo.html That's a player, not a server. My point is that unRAID was designed as a Media Server -- designed to serve data from many hard drives. 4 is not many! Yeah I know, just having a laugh, I only have 3, I feel inadequate :'(

Preclear.sh results - Questions about your results? Post them here.
Wow, so I have a bunch of the WD20EARS drives and I've never jumper'd the 7-8 pins. Just noticed on the top of the drive it says "Windows XP, set jumpers 7-8 prior to installation or use WD Align SW". So is this really necessary for Unraid? I don't think the drives even came with jumpers. Hey Disco, The jumpers do not come with the drives. so I went to one of my local pc shops and they gave me a couple of jumpers, give it a try.

My results for 2 new WD EARS 2TB I don't understand the results (nOOb alert!) It took 28hrs for both disks preclearing at the same time.
