  1. The fan configuration is not intrusive. You can hear noise, but it really just sounds like air blowing... no fan noise... if that makes any sense? As far as temps go, my 7200 RPM drives are usually around 30 degrees, while my green drives are around 28. My system board temp is 27.
  2. Yeah, the DNS-323 filled my initial storage need, but I've since outgrown it. I'm very happy with my change to unRaid, and how well the server turned out (I think it's one of my neater wiring jobs! )
  3. I originally started looking at replacing my D-Link DNS-323 about a year ago, and stumbled upon unRaid at that time. However, due to our upcoming wedding, the timing wasn't the best to invest the money into a proper solution. Instead I cobbled together a hack that allowed me to mount 2 external USB devices onto my DNS-323. This wasn't pretty, and it was awfully slow (12MB/s transfer speeds) but it worked well for what it was. Fast forward to the spring and my discovery of Sickbeard/Couchpotato/Sabnzbd. These were the programs that I had been waiting for, and I was all over them like a fat kid on a smartie. I devoured the space on my DNS-323 and was hungry for more. I explained to my wife that if wanted to continue to have all her shows downloaded, then I would need to build a new storage solution. I once again started looking at unRaid, and once I saw that my downloading triple threat could be installed, I was sold. I started ordering parts, and after a few weeks I was ready to begin building (the joys of cross-border shopping). Due to a busy schedule, (yeah unexpectedly working 3 24-hour shifts this month) it's finally done. I'm just in the process of copying over my data. Boxee has served its purpose great (I needed a something that would stream anything, and quick), but I want something that I can play with a bit more. Having said that, if you need something that just works, the Boxee would be a great player (I'm getting one for my parents). I also want to thank all the volunteers who take the time to answer questions, create packages, etc. I think we to often forget that these guys do this because they want to, not because they have to. So thank you. Any questions or comments, please don't hesitate.
  4. Are the "sabtosickbeard" scripts included in this package? I didn't see them, though I already had the scripts on my desktop so it wasn't an issue.
  5. Understood. Well if you need somebody to test a package with, just let me know. I'd be happy to help.
  6. How easy is it to update the .conf file to work with the latest version (for Sab/Sb/cp)? If it's simple enough, you could just provide instructions on how to do that, and stress that it's unsupported/at your own risk.
  7. First of all, I just want to thank Prostuff and Bubba for all the work they put into these packages, the community appreciates it! I will give my observations on this one --> - As of now, I would say this package is fairly broken (unraid 4.7, latest version of unmenu). The config file seems to have no bearing on the installation. - Fixed! - Despite having told it to install to a different directory, it installed to the flash drive under INSTALL_LOCATION... which looks like a variable name, not an install location - Fixed! - despite changing all the settings prior to doing the install, none of them were used - Fixed! - I had to follow the steps on page 19 of this thread to manually overwrite the files to get the GUI (and program) to function - Fixed! This is with the latest package posted in this thread. I hope my observations help EDIT - I'm having a look at the .conf file to see if I see anything that looks off. EDIT 2 - So I may have fixed my issue. Apparently the .conf file was hardcoded to look for "/mnt/disk1." However, for what seemed like a good idea at the time, I don't have a disk1. I manually change the .conf file to look for disk20 and it seems to have installed fine. The only issue I saw, was I got the following errors --> cp: cannot stat `/boot/custom/transmission/transmission.conf/resume/*': No such file or directory cp: cannot stat `/boot/custom/transmission/transmission.conf/torrents/*': No such file or directory I hope that's because I had the installer move it to another drive...
  8. I'm thinking that if I take the array offline, change the permissions and restart the array, then things should (should being the key word) be good to go.
  9. I've been trying to find some benchmarks (or some sound reasoning) demonstrating why it's beneficial to turn of NCQ in unRaid. However, my google-fu was weak and I was unable to find anything conclusive. The only thing I could find was the User Benchmarks Page, which if anything leans towards having NCQ enabled. Thoughts?
  10. Evening all, I was just poking around into my build prior to copying up all my data when I noticed something strange in my mnt directory --> drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 216 Aug 1 20:45 Apps/ drwx------ 4 root root 80 Aug 1 23:22 cache/ drwx------ 5 root root 104 Aug 1 17:28 disk18/ drwxrwxrwx 5 501 501 104 Aug 1 18:03 disk19/ <-- drwx------ 12 root root 296 Aug 1 20:10 disk20/ drwx------ 1 root root 104 Aug 1 17:28 user/ The permissions/ownership on disk19 looks off, though it hasn't propagated down. I couldn't find anything about this on a search (and quite honestly it may be nothing), but I just wanted to verify. Thanks in advance.
  11. Looks like they updated it again... just did a manual download and it's showing as 9844675. I've been using this for a while on the windows side, and I've never seen this many updates... maybe he's on vacation?
  12. That addon can be found in unMenu.
  13. Afternoon All, So I'm nearly done my unRaid build (pics to come ), but am just trying to figure out how to mount a drive outside the array that will re-mount on reboots. Now normally I would just edit fstab and add the mount in there, but I don't think that works in unRaid. For unRaid, it looks like the go script needs to be edited to run the commands on each boot, so could it be as simple as adding the following lines at the top of the 'go' script --> mkdir /mnt/Apps mount -t reiserfs -o noatime, nodiratime /dev/sdX1 /mnt/... The smb-extra conf file would also need to be updated, but I think changes here survives reboots. Now the only issue I see with the code above is that the device name could change, so I would want to use the device serial number... which I'm not quite sure how to do. In any case this will be the location of my Sab/Couch/Sickbeard install. Any assistance would be appreciated. Oh, and before somebody suggests it, I would rather not use SNAP. Thanks again.
  14. I have the same board, and am just in the process of finishing up my build. Having said that though, I have yet to try the IPMI feature set, though I believe that it is OS independent. In any case, only one of the LAN ports currently have a driver that works with UnRaid (and ESX for that matter). The port that is functional within Unraid is the one that is closest to the IPMI network port (further from the PCIe slots. Hope this helps
  15. I would say that the issue lies with your CPU... not much you can do about that.
  16. What are your hardware specs? Both unpacking and repairing are CPU intensive.
  17. Is any of Sab/SB/Couch running on the same port as unMenu? I believe SAB and unMenu share a port...
  18. Perfect, thank you for clearing that up. Any comment on my results though?
  19. Doesn't really instill me with confidence I know... but you had two different disks with similar symptoms. More than likely on different cables connected to different ports on your old MB. The only common factors are Your old MB. Your old power supply MS-Windows Which one did you have the most confidence in? Joe L. Now I'm confused... my preclear results are for only one disk, and this is the first time I've posted here... I think you have me confused... or I'm confused.
  20. Older drive, would only be used as an interim solution anyways, but just wanted to know if I should be concerned. Preclear_Results.txt
  21. /mnt/cache is not your USB flash drive though...
  22. Silly question, but I'll ask anyways. Under myMain, is their anyway to set it so that the picture of the displayed server accurately reflects your actual server setup? Thanks!
  23. ^ This sums it up pretty well, but it comes down to your needs. If maximizing your space is your biggest concern, then the clear choice is 3.5" drives. If minimizing your footprint is the biggest concern, then perhaps 2.5" drives are the way to go.
  24. Did I miss the second post, or is that a typo? As always, thanks for the work.
