Hello all, I have just upgraded to 6.12.3 from 6.9.2 and for some reason all my dockers no longer have the webui. Any ideas as to what the issue is as I am flummoxed. cheers, M0zz

I have an old mATX PC with an A10 chip in it and have been considering using this as a second Unraid machine for my reading library and leave the main machine as the media server. I think upgrading the CPU, and handing down the 1600 makes it more of a possibility. Also having the second server means I can play more with Unraid without annoying the wife with reboots and such. Even better is that I am seeing that even some A320 motherboards (which my mATX is) are also getting the upgrade. I will have to check when I home.

I'm currently running a 1600, and was looking into possibly upgrading to a later APU and freeing up a PCI spot by removing my GT710. Now I think I am going to rethink my update map.

Hi all, I was perusing the web, considering an upgrade to the CPU on my first generation B350 ryzen motherboard, when I came across a post stating that the new 5000 chips would work with an official bios upgrade. I was wondering if anyone had done this and how stable their build now is? M0zz

So you have tried two yourself, but got put off another by someone writing an article? Maybe install it an give it a whirl? It is all down to personal preference in the end. I'm sure other users will find a different Home NAS solution fits their needs better, but they are not you. Throwing down my tuppence. M0zz

Hello All, I have finally decided to upgrade my case from some generic mid-tower to something that won't scratch me to hell when trying to do something inside it. I purchased the p101s and the build has gone well and everything is back up and running. But... In the case I have a female molex labelled 'fan controller' and a blank male molex. Unfortunately I can find no information as to what the molex plugs are for. Seeing as the fans are not on is the blank molex for the front fans? And the labelled molex for using a fan controller? Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers, M0zz

Don’t install the second drive and keep it as a backup away from the server. Then when you need to expand, buy two more drives, fit one to the server and use the other as a backup for it. i keep my backups away from the server.

Hello all, I am looking to set up a small ‘stable’ plex build for my wife. It will be built into an mATX cube (looking at Sugo SG02). I have a couple of 8tb drives, a 480gb SSD. And two matx boards with cpus (and associated RAM). - h110m with an I5 6400T - a320m with an A8 9600 this will run the plex, sonarr, radarr and sab dockers only. And sab will only run a few times a week. I am interested in using the combination that suits just this set up as i have plans for the other motherboard/CPU. Your thoughts would be appreciated. M0zz

I am looking to build a SFF unraid server and, as i have everything backed up elsewhere that needs backing up, i wont be adding a parity drive (at least for the foreseeable). This would be used as a stable plex machine. And my 8 drive monster will be for other media and to play with VMs and Dockers. This again does not yet have a parity drive. But again i have the data backed up. Before UnRaid i stored everything on portable HDDs, which are now my backups. Parity is a very good idea, but it isn’t necessary.

I don’t see why this cpu would have an issue with Unraid. I use a Ryzen 5 1600 which handles the basics and multiple dockers with no issue at all. Sits at less than 5% most of the time.

Does that mean i have to add the old drive back again to remove it?

So i add the new drive to the old drives position and use new config. this will remove the old drive from the array devices list and place the new one in its place?

Hello, Bit of a noob question. But don’t want to fook anything up royally by ploughing on regardless. i have just replaced an old failing drive. I do not have a parity drive. I have read that I should use the “new config” tool, but reading the text of the tool i am a little confused. when it states all disks appear as “New” disk what does this mean? To me a “New” disk requires preclear and i am sure that doesnt mean this. Could someone clarify? Cheers, M0zz

I pick up my server on Friday, so hopefully can get a good look at the beast and work out whats what. I have found a place for cheap CPU kits (and cheap CPUs if the Heatsinks are included), cheap memory and cheap PSUs. So I should have it up and running in a short amount of time. Just not with Unraid to begin with. I am going to play with ESXi and look into setting up a couple of VMs. Once I acquire a (some) cage(s) I will probably have a lot more questions, but I have several now, more to do with your setup (and ensuring I know which hardware HP is happy with), if you will indulge me... - Which usb add-on card are you using? - I have just noticed in your setup you are mixing SFF and LFF drives. Is this only allowed due to the second SAS controller? - Also which brand of LSI controller did you get? I thought non-HP cards would have the fans going crazy? - how are your UnRaid LFF HDDs and SSDs installed? I assume you acquired an ML350e drive cage? PS. I read somewhere that DL380 Gen8 Drive cages may be similar enough but require some physical alteration, unfortunately I can not find any information on the dimensions of any drive cages. It is a shame because the 8 SFF DL380 cages can be had for peanuts in comparison to the ML350.

So you mentioned running this as a guest on ESXi. Is this just due to issues with GPU passthrough for VMs? or are there other HP shaped pains I will encounter with this build?

Right, so I think this is going to be a slow progress build... I am not really in a position to shell out a lot on this gear. So I think I will have to keep an eye out for bargains. The main issue with this build is going to be the CPU heatsinks, which I am not happy to pay 60 quid for, and the drive cage(s). I may try and get hold of a backplane and fabricate my own, non-hotswap cage. In true Top Gear fashion 'How hard can it be?' You mentioned the ML350e drive cages. Are these not 4 drive cages and so too small for the ML350p? Cheers, M0zz

All, I hope that you can help me... I have acquired a barebones ML350p Gen8 for a pittance. Unfortunately there are no CPU's, RAM, PSU's, or even the HD Cage. I should have done a little more research before acquiring it. But I didn't, but I have tried now and am still struggling a little. Now PSU's can be had from several places online for not too much money, memory is out there in abundance, and I can get some nice multi-core CPU's for not too much either. I have even read that the Raid card has a HBA option. But HP can be ArzeHouls when it comes to making money (had a HP Printer in the UK, took it to Oz and couldn't buy the ink there as it was region specific!) So... 1. Cooling for the CPUs... Do I need to use HP specific cooling or can I make use of other LGA2011 cooling options? (Noctua/BeQuiet) 2. Hard Drive cages... These don't seem to be a regular size. a) for HP specific spares does it have to be a Gen8 cage or will others fit (say a Gen6)? b) can other non-HP enclosures be made to fit? 3. The fan rack... I have heard that these can be loud. Can the fans be replaced with non-HP fans? Or bypassed altogether for a different cooling option? My needs for the server are not substantial (Half a dozen dockers, Linux VM and Win7 VM not running at the same time) And I really want this to replace my current UnRaid Server (Ryzen 5 1600 in a cheap nasty case). But I don't want to end up spending an absolute fortune on HP spares to get this up and running. Any help ideas would be greatly appreciated M0zz

Had mine offline for a week. Started it without vpn and it worked. Reinitialised vpn and it still works. haven’t a scooby what went on earlier.

Thanks Gary, I think I'll stick with the Silverstone SFX unit. To begin with this will be an 'always on' server. But it will eventually become the backup UnRaid when I buy my next build that can to handle v6 and Xen (Just don't tell the wife). So the inefficiencies of the PSU won't be long term. Also the picoPSU will be a lot more expensive, and incur more postage costs (which are absurd in Oz anyway). M0zz

Hi guys, I wonder if someone would be able to help me with the consumption calculations for hopefully my first unRaid rig. The board and chip are the integrated ASUS C60m1-i mini-itx board with 4gb of ram. The data drives to begin with will be 4 assorted external desktop drive pulls (2*3TB and 2*2TB). The max the system will be is UnRaid Plus (6 drives + 1 SSD) and any new drives (and the eventual replacements for the above drives) will be Red/NAS. A local supplier has the Silverstone ST30ST 300w SFX PSU (going with a Lian-Li PC-Q25 box for this build), but is this still going to be inefficient due to the low power draw? could I go for an even lower wattage PSU? maybe to picoPSU? M0zz
