  1. So the controller card is AOC-SAS2LP I went into to the web bios and cleared the configuration assuming would allow the disks to be visible in unraid but no joy. The only thing I haven't tried is move the disks to different bays but I because they are visible as in the boot sequence didn't think this would make any difference but out of ideas now. 2. Didnt want to risk losing any data, so put all disks back into orignal machine and partiy check starting as its a new config. If anyone can help with with the LSI 2180 wont allow me to pick up my drives I would really appriciate it.
  3. Looks like I need the sas card in jbod, tried the web config for it but I only have wireless keyboard at moement which doesnt work work. I am assuming just need the card to run in correct mode for the drives to detect in unraid. Will shutdown and wait until the morning as will definatly need to find wired keyboard.
  4. Showing on boot up but no nothing in bios. Assuming if I put everything back in the old machine I will need to re-assign drives as I have done "New Config" But because the new server isnt detecting disk in unraid I cannot re-assign
  5. ok new machine is not picking up any disks!! Also noticed memory has dropped, it should be 24gb only showing 12 Model: N/A M/B: Supermicro - X8DT3 CPU: Intel® Xeon® CPU E5645 @ 2.40GHz HVM: Enabled IOMMU: Disabled Cache: 384 kB, 1536 kB, 12288 kB Memory: 12 GB Multi-bit ECC (max. installable capacity 384 GB) Network: bond0: IEEE 802.3ad Dynamic link aggregation, mtu 1500 eth0: 100 Mb/s, full duplex, mtu 1500 eth1: not connected Kernel: Linux 4.18.10-unRAID x86_64 OpenSSL: 1.1.0i Booted into safe mode disk still not appearing. Im guessing it has something to do with the raid card and no disk are showing except the usb. server-diagnostics-20181021-2306.zip
  6. Hi Guys, I just need to check, before I do anything, I have swapped all my drives into a new machine, booted and accessed the gui. All my disk are missing, do I just need to create a new config and Preserve current assignments: ALL Is anything else required? Reboot, start array? I have made a screenshot of before so assuming just need to make sure I select correct drive for each disk Unraid 6.6.1
  7. Thanks for the reply, Going to move everything over as is for now and get it up and running, then move appdata which is on a separate system. Hoping I can just import it to new setup and all I have to do is update the mounts. Also want to check the power consumption compared to old systems too, I am hoping it will be more efficient as I have 3 machines running 24/7 where now I can have 1 single machine, and run my windows desktop as a VM. Does anyone know how to get the best use out of dual cpu setup with plex or will it just do what it needs to automatically?
  8. I picked up a pretty decent deal in my mind on a dual xeon supermicro system to replace my N40L which is used for storage only and a second small factor machine which runs docker and all the containers which writes back over the network instead of directly. So now the plan is to move all my drives in to new case but at same time upgrade the parity drive to a WD RED 6TB freeing up the current 4TB WD Red to go into the array. So first question really is the best method to do this? Should I just put all the drive where they need to be and create a new config with the 6TB assigned to Parity? Will also need to figure out how to move my appdata to the new setup CA Back up tools and restore I am hoping. Will need to remap all my network mounts as plex etc all use mounts created using UD plugin. Planning to do this Saturday so need to make sure I have covered all bases.
  9. Purchased! Can't wait for it to be delivered and installed! The cpu might be older than I like but hopefully it's a rock solid system that gives me 14k passmark using the dual xeons. Just need to get 2 more HDDs to add to array. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  10. Hi guys thanks for the replies but this actually works out lot cheaper than tower as its refurb only works out around $350 that's included 24gb ecc ram + dual Xeon cpus with redundant psu. Baring in mind what I am coming from to something like this for me is massive jump. The noise isn't a issue for me as it will be going in basement if I had a 12 Bay tower case I can imagine it being just as loud depending on the fans anyway. One thing I need to check if is this hotswap bays Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  11. Any thoughts on the Intel xeon E5645? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  12. Just found this and looks like it should be fine https://lime-technology.com/index.php?/topic/71853-Question-about-the-LSI-SAS-9207-8i#entry662452 Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  13. What controller would you suggest? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  14. In fact think I found one that will keep me happy and wont need to upgrade Supermicro 1U SYS-602T-E1R12 12 Bay 3.5" drive storage chassis Each configured with : 2 x E5645 6 Core 2.4Ghz CPU 6 x 4Gb DDR3 1333Mhz ECC Registered DIMMs Supermicro AOC-SAS2LP-H8iR 6Gbps RAID controller for controlling the 12 drives On-board IPMI Dual 10/100/1000 ethernet On-board 12 x 3.5" Hard Drive Bays including sleds (No hard drives included, but we can supply) 2U Supermicro Rackmount / Rail Kit Redundant 1200w PSU Let me know what you would go for
  15. Ok been having a look on ebay and found something that may be a goods start for me Supermicro 1U SYS-6026T-URF 2U 8 Bay 3.5" drive storage chassis 2 x E5620 4 Core 2.4Ghz CPU 6 x 4Gb DDR3 1333Mhz ECC Registered DIMMs Supermicro AOC-USAS2-L8e 6Gbps HBA for controlling the 8 drives (You could also add an internal SSD to motherboard port as boot disk etc) On-board IPMI Dual 10/100/1000 ethernet On-board 8 x 3.5" Hard Drive Bays including sleds (No hard drives included, but we can supply) Redundant 720w PSU The price point is good but the cpu is something I might look to swap in the future as I want at least 15k cpu passmark score. Any thoughts?
  16. Looking for inspriation for a new build looks like I might get more value for money using a new 8th gen Intel CPU. Current set up looks like this Storage HP Microserver N40L AMD Turion™ II Neo N40L Dual-Core @ 1500 8GB RAM Docker Sedatech Mini-PC Gigabyte H97N-WIFI Intel® Core™ i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz 16GB RAM
  17. Try vpn then use ftp and see if you notice any difference in speeds. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  18. Which also needs to be compatible with the i7 4790 Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  19. My current CPU has just under 10k passmark which is plenty for PLEX which is my main container I use, the rest is just pure data... The reason I want one machine is currently I have 2 running one for data only and 1 for dockers but now I have got to a point I cant really expand my system. Looks like the Norco RPC2212 is hard to come by the link I posted goes to a 2312. I am going to need to factor in 2 additional drives 8TB WD REDS but the main rig should be under £500
  20. Cant believe I forgot RAM! With the Norco RPC-2212 will this allow me to connect all 12 drives or would I need to purchase the LSI card? So far £167.99 Norco RPC-2212 - https://www.servercase.co.uk/shop/server-cases/rackmount/2u-chassis/2u-server-case-w-12x-35-hot-swappable-satasas-drive-bays-minisas-sc-2312/ £109.00 SS-600H2U - https://www.powersuppliesonline.co.uk/power-supplies/pc-power-supplies/seasonic-active-pfc-2u-computer-power-supply.html
  21. I currently have to unraid servers running 1. N40L with 5x 4TB WD Reds + Samsung 850 250GB SSD cache 2. SFF machine with Intel i7 4790 no array just single SSD for dockers What I would like to do is build a single 2u server which can have up to 12 disks. To keep costs down I was thinking of moving the drives I already have which is a no brainer but then also pulling out the i7 4790 and putting the original i3 back into the SFF machine. List of stuff I think I need would be something like this 2U case + PSU Motherboard SAS controllers? (I don't know anything about these) Additional NIC Internal cables SATA etc Any help and suggestions would be great
  22. Yep 2 keys required but depending on how many drives your dev unit has maybe you can basic licence?
  23. Would like to like to convert my desktop to a unraid machine as it got 10 bays but it has an old Asus p5k which only has 6 sata ports. Flip side is the q6600 cpu is much better than what's in the n40l Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  24. Will be sticking with the WD Reds but at £167.99 each I really wish I had another spare bay instead of taking out the perfectly functioning 4tb drive. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  25. Have you rebooted the machine? I have had a few occasions where I have lost all access and had to manually unplug the system.
