I've just updated to 6.12.3 (from 6.9.2) and now cannot use the Terminal on my (fairly old) Chromebook. It seems ok on a new Chromebook. Is there a setting I can change to continue to use Terminal on my old Chromebook? It is still running as if it were new but since it's stopped getting updates I'm losing access to many modern websites, so I only really use it to access my Unraid Towers. It was fine with 6.9.2 so I think it's the TTYD terminal that's causing my problem. Thanks

Just wanted to says thanks for posting this. I followed it (except 8 - I wouldn't know what to look for!) and didn't seem to have any problems except my Windows VM took two goes to boot but other than that all is good and my cache is now back to normal.

Hi, I'm struggling with my audio default. I've been looking for a while and can't figure it out. I just want the audio to be untouched with only the video compressed. I set all "Auto passthru behaviour" to checked but when I look at the GUI it always shows that it is going to convert it to AAC (which it does to the file in the output folder) I exported the preset file and it shows as: "AlignAVStart": false, "AudioCopyMask": [ "copy:aac", "copy:ac3", "copy:dtshd", "copy:dts", "copy:mp3", "copy:truehd", "copy:flac", "copy:eac3" But I have to manually alter the GUI for every file. This is also happening on my Windows computer so I guess it's a preset fault rather than a docker fault but I wonder if someone here could help. Thanks

Hi, I have a couple of simple questions, I hope you can help or point me in the right direction. For Christmas I received an internet radio/Media player (John Lewis Cello - with Frontier Silicon innards). I installed the MiniDLNA docker and it all mostly works! [Thank you binhex] But some issues I'm not sure about: 1) Any album I want to listen to lists the tracks in alphabetical order. Can MiniDLNA sort in track number order? These are tagged so it seems to make sense to use them. The Cello has no option to choose how files are sorted so the only other option is to change the id tags to include the track number which seems silly as track number is already a tag. 2) The Cello manual says the media player menu is created by the DLNA server. It gives me the option of Audio, Video and Pictures. As I can't view the last two in the Cello I would like it if I could remove them from the menu. I changed media_dir= to media_dir=A in the conf but it made no difference. 3) I haven't yet worked out how to update the database (after adding media) without removing the container and deleting all the files in the config folder. Should this be automatic? 4) According to the manual the Cello should remember the DLNA server when it is off and can run Wake On LAN, it doesn't remember the server. Is there a setting in MiniDLNA for this? It's a long shot but means I could switch on my server from the Cello rather than my mobile phone. I appreciate I am rather late in the game and these have been answered many times but I'm very much a learner and struggle to find the answers I'm after. Thanks

I am finally getting somewhere. As the media would not see ANY samba shares I had to move everything over to nfs. I could point to the YAMJ folder easily using the media player's browser but finding out how to get YAMJ to follow a path was the problem. I ended up using: nfs://192.168.0.XXX/mnt/user/Movies/Movie.mkv Thanks for the help. No doubt I'll be back here when trying to add a new disc.

Yes, as I said my windows PC (and my linux laptop) will read and write to the unraid server. The only issue now is that, with V6, my media player will not play any media that it was happy to play under V5.

Yes, all my shares AND all the discs (just in case) are Public in SMB and NFS. It used to be fine accessing YAMJ and the media via smb using smb://[root=]/TOWER/Movies/movie.mkv Now I can only access YAMJ via nfs and can I can browse the media using nfs but cannot select them from YAMJ.

Do you mean passwords? I have no passwords set for unraid, yet I cannot access the shared folders on V6 that I can access on V5. I guess I don't need to worry as my windows PC can read and write happily to the unraid folders. This didn't seem to make any difference. Is there a way of comparing the properties of these shared folders against the old ones to see why the media player will see one but not the other?

Thanks Trurl, I'm afraid I don't understand a lot of this. . . ok, so this is the thing that's changed since my V5. Can I change it so it works like it used to? ok, I can live with that. Ouch, I understand none of this, do you mean accessing the tower via a windows computer or plugging the USB into a pc? Will this allow the popbox media player to access the media files via route, as before? ok I can give this a go, can you explain "in charge" in this context, please? If I can't change the settings to use root again then I imagine I need to change all my YAMJ links (currently something like smb://[root=]/TOWER/Movies/movie.mkv), to smb:/[newname=pwd]/TOWER/Movies/movie.mkv. My links are currently on one of the HDDs, while I'm at it would it be suitable to put these on the boot USB stick to speed up access?

That sounds promising. Unfortunately I don't understand how to get what you asked to check. If I click User I get just user 'root' settings with no password. I noticed when I telnet in I enter "root" and it asks for a password. V5 doesn't ask for a password. I tried adding another user with or without a password but cannot telnet in at all, only as root. btw I can (sometimes) access my Data share but not my Movies share

I've got Enable SMB: Yes (Workgroup) Workgroup: workgroup Local master: No All my user shares (Data, Movies etc) have SMB set to Public and those two also have NFS set to Public. If this sounds right could it be a 64 bit thing? Or could the access to root be different somehow?

Thanks for the help. I am not at the system at the moment but when it doesn't see a file it gives the message (along the lines of): Unable to establish a connection to the file smb:/[root=]/TOWER/Movies/movie.mkv So I think it's using Samba which is enabled (Samba, NFS and AFP are all enabled). I have access to the V5 USB stick which is still fine but I have no idea where to look.

As far as I know I don't have any plug ins. There were none in the config folder I copied. There were two (dynamix) in the V6 config/plugins folder which I have tried with it removed and it's the same.

Hi, I'm trying to do the same I think. I have been using the free 5.0beta12 for a while and now need to add some drives which I believe I need to update to V6 first. My first step was to install the zipped 6.0.0 files onto a new USB drive. I then copied the config folder from the old USB drive (except go). It all boots up ok and I entered a new trial key and all looks normal. I only use it as a media server for an old popcorn hour popbox, this is where the problem lies. The popbox doesn't seem to see the media jukebox and if I run (YAMJ) and point to the jukebox it will see it but then will not run the media (Unable to establish a connection to the file). I think it must be some kind of shares/permissions problem and I understand that it's with the way the popbox accesses the media. But the old USB stick is still working fine so there must be something I've missed when setting up the new USB which I have now done 3 times. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can change? Thanks

As Ebuyer just sent out about 300 of these (last batch?), there might be others with the same questions as me, so hopefully this post will help. After a bit of searching around I came to the conclusion that the most recent modded BIOS was 041100113 and I needed to use SP64420 to create a bootable flash, then replace the HP 041100113 file with the modded one. I got these files from this Dutch site http://www.xpenology.nl/hp-n40ln54l-bios-modificatie-2013-10-01/ but followed the English one below (They are very similar). So I followed this English guide: http://terfmop.co.uk/blog/2013/07/31/hp-proliant-n54l-bios-modification-guide-allow-hot-plug-sata-and-5th-sata-port/ and used the files above instead. My Microserver now tells me the BIOS is dated 10/01/2013 which is as up to date as I'd expect. Hopefully this post either helps someone or encourages someone to offer better advice! Cheers

I followed the first link that your search gave and was just about to pull the trigger when I noticed that it's over a year old. Will it be based on the HP BIOS? Should I get a newer one? My 2 day old Microserver came with BIOS dated 07/29/2011 Thanks again.

So if I plan to use it with 4 HDDs and a BD-ROM with Unraid I don't need to update the BIOS. Is this correct? Thanks

Hi, I have just purchased the N54L (I think, documentation is a bit vague) I found a note about updating the BIOS. I am a bit puzzled as to whether I need to update if I am going to use UnRaid and where I get it if I haven't purchased a support package. btw I have no experience of upgrading BIOS and would have assumed a new product comes with the latest version . How can I tell if I have the latest already? Thanks

Thank you, that sounds perfect. I think this was set up this way before I upgraded from Squeeze. There was a bookmark with SMB://192.etc but this just brought up an error message (I think about permissions - I am away from my laptop at the moment) so I deleted it. Accessing the Unraid GUI via chrome on the laptop is fine.

Hi All, First post and Linux beginner so please be gentle! I think this might be a generic Linux question but I'm having trouble searching for an answer. I've tried many things but I'm getting a bit lost. I have an Unraid server (with Serviio) previously populated with music from a Windows XP machine either by dragging files across windows explorer or using Puppy (I think?) and a USB hard drive (Less convenient but faster). Now the Windows XP machine has been replaced by a Wheezy laptop I would like to copy files from the laptop to the Unraid server. I tried gFTP (on the laptop) but couldn't figure out how to connect it to the server. I'm also a bit confused about FTP/SMB/etc. I don't mind using terminal because I'm a bit wary about installing and uninstalling lots of apps. Thank you for any help.
