  1. Only a Windows box can recognize dynamic disks/dynamic volumes. You will have to have your Windows box running to get the files off of it and onto the unRAID box.
  2. It won't be possible to have both the new unRAID and the old Windows box up at the same time?
  3. Regarding price of drives...wait till this coming Friday and Monday. (Black Friday/Cyber Monday) You may be able to find a screaming deal on drives...assuming you are in the USA of course.
  4. Deleting that ssh folder fixed my issue as well. Thanks for the thread!
  5. Try waiting a bit to see if the status changes from "Not Joined" to "Joined". If the status stays as not joined, try this: I had the same trouble joining to a 2008R2 DC using my account which is a member of Domain Admins. Using the LOCAL administrator account of the domain controller is what worked for me. Try using that local administrator account to join the domain.
  6. Read this thread: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=39073.msg363786#msg363786 Does your situation fall under the discussed scenario?
  7. Today was housekeeping day...AKA Clean the dust out of computers day. When I booted my unRAID box up I saw these errors that are probably the reason for my SSH issues. (and RXWatcher's as well I bet...) Could not load host key: /etc/ssh/ssh_host_rsa_key key_load_public: invalid format Could not load host key: /etc/ssh/ssh_host_dsa_key key_load_public: invalid format Could not load host key: /etc/ssh/ssh_host_ecdsa_key key_load_public: invalid format Disabling protocol version 2. Could not load host key sshd: no hostkeys available -- exiting Diagnostics attached. Should I be posting this in the defect report forum? unraid-diagnostics-20161030-1233.zip
  8. That was weird. I have fixed the original post.
  9. For the most part my upgrade to 6.2.2 from 6.1.9 went perfectly. However I have this one issue. When using Putty I can't connect via SSH. The network connection is refused. I CAN connect via TelNet using Putty though. Not being a Linux guy I'm kind of in the dark as to what could be wrong. Diagnostics are attached. Any ideas? unraid-diagnostics-20161025-1422.zip
  10. Upgraded from 6.1.9 to 6.2.2 yesterday without issues. All the info gathered by the mods and included in the 2nd post of the 6.2 release thread was invaluable. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=51874.msg497876#msg497876 Parity sync was finished this morning and I have two valid parity drives. The only thing left on my to do list is to pull the cord for the UPS out of the wall and verify I get a clean shutdown of unRAID and my VM's. BTW, I had to go to 6.2.1 first as 6.2.2 didn't show as an update until 6.2.1 was installed. Once 6.2.1 was up and running, 6.2.2 showed as an available update. Not sure if that is by design or not so I thought I would throw that out there. Anyways, I'm really happy with how the upgrade process went. Very good work guys!
  11. Not sure what to do here... While I was at work, there must have been a power outage. Lasted at least an hour. unRAID box is on a UPS with the powerdown plugin but something went wrong. When I try and boot the box, it goes thru POST ok but never goes anywhere after that. Just a black screen with a flashing cursor. Checked boot order in the BIOS and the Sandisk USB stick is seen and the only device in the list. So at this point, I took the USB stick out of the box and put it in my Windows PC. Windows wants to run scan disk on it. I wasn't sure if I should or not so I clicked Continue without scanning. When I look at the flash drive in Windows it is empty. Should I let Windows run scandisk on the flash drive? I'm really not sure what my next step should be here. Would appreciate some assistance. Thanks guys. Matt
  12. What is the command I can type from the console to gracefully stop the array and reboot unRAID? I believe I have the powerdown plugin installed. I am on version 6.1.8 Web gui is totally unresponsive. Really do not want to pull power...
  13. Interwebtech, How did you RAID 0 the parity drives? I'm curious being an unRAID/Linux noob.
  14. Except that the 550 is not the wattage rating. It's the Volt-Amps rating. That particular UPS is only rated to 330 watts. 330 * .09 = 29.7 watts. More info here if you're interested: http://www.power-solutions.com/watts-va
  15. So I am curious what you guys recommend for a file system on unRAID. XFS? BTRFS? ReiserFS? (doubt it) I was leaning towards XFS but thought I would ask. My preclear is about finished so it's time to make some decisions. Let me outline my planned use for this box. It will be my main file/media server. It will be running Plex Media Server. It will also be running at least one VM and maybe two. That first VM will be a Windows domain controller (w2k8r2) I have been running this domain since 1999 and it allows me to test and do things that I wouldn't be able to do otherwise. I am also planning on building another box to be a backup (or the primary) fileserver here. Not sure if I want that to be a FreeNAS box or not. ZFS has really piqued my interest. Anyways, one step at a time. I want to get comfortable with unRAID before heading down the FreeNAS road. I have a lot to learn, having been a Windows guy from the start... Anyone here using both unRAID and FreeNAS?
  16. The reason I brought it up is because I have heard of people having issues with power splitters/adapters. I find it hard to believe that all your new disks are at fault here, though anything is possible I'm thinking it could be that adapter causing a power issue Do you have another to try? Or temporarily use a second PSU to power some stuff, just for testing purposes? I'm basically just thinking out loud here...
  17. Am I reading this correctly? You have all 4 disks being powered off of a single molex that is being split into 4 SATA power adapters? If so, I'm betting that is the cause of the issue. But I'm probably misinterpreting your post.
  18. Can you try that controller in another box and see if you can access it's BIOS? The fact you can't access it on your unRAID box is disturbing...
  19. Just as an FYI: I installed Unraid for the first time yesterday. Version 6.1.6 I had this exact same issue. Firefox or IE11 from my Win7 box just wouldn't connect via host name or IP address. I could ping it via host name though. DNS would resolve the name to the correct IP. Just like bearking, it started working all by itself. Very weird... Another thing is that I changed the password on root and webgui doesn't make me logon. It just goes right in. I know the password did get changed because I have to use it at the console. Just not the webgui.
  20. I know this is an old thread but I couldn't get my Unraid box to join my domain. What finally worked for me was using the local admin account of the domain controller for credentials. Using my user account (which is a member of Domain Admins) would not work. It was driving me nuts. Finally tried that local admin account and viola, it's joined now. Posted this as it may help someone else. BTW, this was on version 6.1.6 Matt
