By the end of 2020, i hope that i could found and built my new server on a fractal define 7XL Capable for 18 drives without modifications. For those that they dont have a basement or room to store a noisy 24 bay rack server, it may be a nice solution.

I already setup the syslog server on the USB stick that runs unRAID, Is it safe to upload it the syslog file here?

Here is the diagnostics after 1 minute that i start the parity check, after that 1 minute, the web GUI is unreachable so i cant get another diagnostic and to shut down the server, the only method that i know, is to push the power button continuously, until it shuts down (which is bad for the health of the drives) unRAID-diagnostics-20200228-1127.zip

thanks for the quick response. Sorry but i attach an old diagnostics. I set up the syslog server to save logs in my unRAID flash drive. Could this syslog file help? If the attached syslog file doesn't help, could you please let me know how to generate a new diagnostics file?

Hello After 5 minutes when i start the parity check ( 2 drives parity) i get the message on the quote. I try with chrome, opera, firefox with the same results. In addition, the IP address of my server, disappears when i scan my network, with the Fing app from my smartphone. Any thoughts?

Hello All duplicated files seems to be on disk4 disk6. All duplicate files are bluray rips, (FOLDER/BDMV structure) with way to much files. Is there a way to check that both BDMV Folders (on both disk4 and disk6) are identical and not missing any files so i cant delete one of them? Should i delete the BDMV Folders stored on the Disk 6? (This duplicated file means that only the version on the lowest numbered disk will be readable..)

I delete the advanced.buttons.plg successfully (doesn't appear any more) and then run Extended Tests from Fix Common Problems and the results at the bottom right say But there is no errors at the left side that need to be repaired.. is this a bug? I just saw that i cant copy or read any of my data from Unraid... i get very low speeds 10kb/sec or i cant get the index of folder.. loading some time and then nothing is inside of the folder... Yes i was ignoring the message 1 or 2 years, because i didnt figure out how to successfully remove advanced buttons and didn't have the time to post here. Do i have to unplug the USB stick and plug it in my PC to delete the advanced.buttons.plg or can i do it remotely with a file browser?

I just found, that i also cant remove Statistics or Nerd Tools..

Hello! From the Fix Common Problems, i get the following message, that suggest to remove advanced buttons, but although i remove it from the PLUG INS tab, it never disappears. Any thought how to remove it successfully? thanks in advance

Hello! I would like to built my new unraid and need your advice for cpu + mobo that will work without any problems. I heard some problems with X370 motherboards (needs firmware update) and the AMD 3000 cpu series but dont know, if this was a problem of the first batch of the X370. Should i go for the Asrock X370 Taichi + AMD Ryzen 5 3600? Is it trouble free? only things that i want the Taichi X370 is that it has 10 port SATA.

My current drives are Seagate ironwolf 8TB and Seagate archive 8TB. Just to make my decision a little bit clear. Lets say that i have a tower case able to host 24 drives, and i also have a motherboard, cpu, ram and psu. What else do i need to connect the 24 drives? An HBA card and a SAS expander? Could you please give me a very rough estimate of cost for a 12Gb SAS Expander and 6Gb SAS Expander? thanks

Hello I would like some help to understand what SAS expander speed should i need, for my specific needs for a cold storage server storing media files, without vm's. What are the most crucial factors, that makes parity check or rebuilding an array, faster? The ram and cpu is crucial or its only a matter of hard drives speeds? thanks

I have change all my hard drives to 8TB (which has the sweet spot TB/€) on both servers (synology nas and unRAID cold storage) But i need to move my unRAID cold storage server in a case that support more drives. Right now, unRAID has 10 drives (2 parity 8 data) and my future plan is to add one or two drives, per year. I read that unRAID OS Pro license has Unlimited attached storage devices and supports up to 30 storage devices in the parity-protected array (28 data and 2 parity) and up to 24 storage devices in the cache pool. So the "unlimited" is 30 hard drives. Since that i live in a small place, i store my servers at living room/home cinema room. So i need to be as quiet as possible but unfortunately, i can't afford expensive silent solutions. thanks! I already have dual parity, but it takes 30+ hours for parity check.. so it would take almost 15 days (8 x 30+ hours) of constantly rebuilding. because of the high stress of the disks, isn't this method very risky?

Hello I would like to replace all my seagate archives HDD on something more reliable model like ironwolf or red. i now have 8TB seagate archives and would like to replace all of them, with 8TB (or maybe 10TB depends on the price) seagate ironwolf or WD red. What is the simplest method? If i add a new HDD in the pool, is there a way to empty all the contents of an older HDD to the new HDD?
