Finished balancing the disks!! it took some time!! Already purchased a new license for the second server and i'm going to do a new config with 3 new 6Tb's disk and joining the other 4 6Tb's with Data. I'm hopping that unRAID will see the data on them... am i correct to assume this? After this i'm going to pick the remaing 4x8Tb's and will do the same on another machine joining also 2 new 8Tb's disks and setup it up as a new config using the current pen/license. Any one tried something similar?

@Frank1940 will go with your suggestion with the parity check, then i will copy as much as i can to my new setup 3x6Tb, then will go on unbalance and empty the 3 existing 6Tb drives so that i can remove them from the 1st server.

Hi @Frank1940 , thanks for the reply :-) Parity was done 2 weeks ago and all went ok. My main doubt is the best way to start the process... ehehh i have 40ish Tb but i want to ditch the 3Tb hard drives ( i have 4 all with data at the moment) and then maintain 2 separated systems. Thanks again,

Hi, Been using unRAID for a few months and loving it! My current setup is a Corsair 900D packed with hard drives and i think its time to move on to a rack system. Bought the rack, bought the hw, going on with the setup on the weekend but been thinking about the best way to move the hard drivers. I want to have on one server all of the 6TB and below (a couple of 4tb) and on the other one all of the 8TB drives. Best option would it be to shutdown current server, move the hard drivers physically to the new servers and assign them as DATA without parity so that i can arrange the data between them both and then assign a parity to each server? Thanks in advance.

Hi, been using plex pass version and everything was smooth, unraid server with low workload but for the last 2 weeks it just keeps getting search and download all metada again (so it seems). Every search takes hours and unraid work % goes very high of course. I've tried the upgrade unraid since the new stable version was release, i've tried every combination of library search available without any luck. I have another plex server on same network pointing to unRAID data and its behaving normally only downloading new metadata stuff and the searches are very fast. I cant be 100% sure if this started to happen on the last update on the docker that i've done or it started just before upgrading... Any pointers? I was hopping for some update on docker to see if it would bring back the good and old stable that i was getting before... Some prints os spikes on usage. Thanks in advance for the time to read this.

Was just looking for this kinda topic / answer... Finished my setup a few days ago and thinking about going from an i7 to a Xeon so a new board, cpu and ram for the machine and just just thinking about how cool it was to just shut down take apart board and cpu and place the new hw on the machine... and just power on! and it seems it is that simple! worthy every penny unRAID! that is strange since this new disk went on this "case" so they are all powered the same way.. (cable management is not done since all the data and disk's are not on the case yet) i'll power down as soon as this other disk finish's preclear session. Thanks again for the quick assistance @johnnie.black , i will report back as soon as i power it off and double check it.

Hi, not a big expert on the system... pretty noobie here but i've added a 10gb plus the 1gb and all went fine got more than on 1gb transfering files to my old SSD (before it crashed)

@johnnie.black i was editing to add it since i didn't reboot the machine... it seems i've got an error on the new disk..

So... new disk installed, preclear on the way last night but with the skip options ticked, a older disk also putted in to preclear... This morning i had the report asking if i wanted to send the data report but i cant find the disk (and the one is missing is the new one) since this older one also has some smart errors but i will let the preclear finish.. i've clicked the refresh disk's on the unassigned devices but no luck.. yeah... later on i'll stop the array, stop the data transfer and make a "clone" off the data on this one to a new one while i still have access to the data on the original machine. Thanks for the quick reply @johnnie.black

Hi, pretty new to unRAID but loving it so far but had a problem on my setup this weekend and lost 2 hard drivers and 1 ssd in the process... all 3 units have no power upon shutting down and moving the machine from one room to the other... maybe on Y of the connections is bad... i really dont know and the SSD was 1Tb so... kinda want to forget about it! But one off my other disk's got a few smart errors so i was wondering if anyone in this great community could help me on keeping this HD for now (since it has data) or it is better to load up krusader or even via another machine and just dump all of the data to a new disk, stop the array and pop the new disk in. Since i'm still in passing data from windows to unRAID no parity disk is installed or cache drive for now but will use both. Thanks for the time on reading up this.
