  1. Honestly I'm not fond of running something like this outside of a plugin/container/VM. However, I'm currently testing this docker image with a custom template: https://hub.docker.com/r/uroni/urbackup-client Does anyone know if this has a chance of success or am I wasting my time?
  2. I also said I don't want to have the files permanently on the backup server. To give a comparison, I have Macrium Reflect on my main desktop set to have 5 incremental backups before it starts removing the older backups, this means that if I delete a file I have some time to recover it.
  3. Looking at the docker image though, if I understand correctly, the urbackup on CA is only the server where as I'd need a client on my main server. Sorry, maybe I should have been clearer and stated both servers are running unraid.
  4. I want to setup a second server (low powered thin client) to do full overnight backups of my primary server. The only thing I'm undecided on is the backup method to use. Luckybackup is close, however, I dislike the 'delete files on the destination' option as I'd like to have at least some time before a backup is truly deleted e.g. I accidentally delete something but only discover it the day after, but I don't want to disable this as I do want old files to be automatically deleted after a while. I know worst case scenario I can setup my main server's Windows VM to do overnight backups via SMB with e.g. Macrium Reflect, although this isn't ideal and I'd rather use a docker or plugin on the second server. Is there another potential solution which matches my needs? Thank you.
  5. I had tried that in the past but I couldn't get it to work properly between the two different routers, which was one reason I gave up and just went with WG/unraid.
  6. Basically I want to have a site/LAN to site/LAN VPN setup so that I can do offsite backups and easily access my parents LAN from my LAN. Setup is as follows: Site A: Router: PFsense or opnsense (currently have both setup for testing but not running simultaneously) running as VM (currently unraid, formerly proxmox) with PCI-E passthrough for WAN and LAN NICs. VPN Server: Unraid IP subnet: 192.168.0.0/24 Site B: Router: Asus RT-AC68U running latest merlin firmware VPN Server: Unraid IP Subnet: 192.168.1.0/24 I have tried both Wireguard via unraid and currently trying Tailscale using the unraid plugin but I keep getting disconnection issues when I try to do anything when accessing Site B from Site A, this includes running VNC/Windows RDC (will run for a couple of minutes) and I'm unable to do any SMB file transfers (but I can successfully access the SMB share to browse) and can access web UIs. Site B to Site A seems perfectly fine though and using my mobile I have no issues either. On site A I have upnp enabled with a gateway/route setup for 192.168.1.0 and on site B I also have upnp setup as well as a static route for 192.168.0.0. I also tried reducing the MTU to 1420 when I was on Wireguard, but this didn't fix the issue and broke access to the Asus router webui using wireguard. I don't seem to have other issues with the networks, for example, Chrome Remote Desktop to site B runs fine and I can do local LAN file transfers as well as download files from the internet without issue. Any suggestions for where/what I can try? Thank you
  7. Unfortunately the system I plan on using for the time being lacks a spare internal connectors. If USB 3.x drives are that unreliable I might see if I can track down an older 2.0 drive from a reputable retailer, I've had zero issues (so far) with my two existing systems which use USB 2.0.
  8. Just want to confirm before buying, anyone have any issues with the Samsung fit plus recently? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07HPS8GQM I'm after a low profile USB drive if anyone has any alternative suggestions, preferably around £10.
  9. Believe it or not but I've watched someone on YouTube try to create a minimal version of Linux for bootstrapping old systems, I haven't gotten round to finish watching the whole stream yet but where I got up to he was struggling to get it to boot for some weird reason.
  10. Also, not everyone may care about software updates, just look at the amount of people who still use W7 as their main OS.
  11. The announcement said the new plus plan equivalent will be around the same price. For that reason as someone who's looking at a spare license, I'd say either go for basic or pro. This way you either have a relatively cheap upgrade path to plus or you can just sit back and relax.....touch wood. As for the storage limit, personally I'm trying to avoid having large drives these days due to the hassle of dealing with things like drive failures. Instead I try to keep WORM content (e.g. movies) on smaller 2.5" drives and only using my larger drives for data which requires faster throughput e.g. weekly backups.
  12. I still consider it a gamble either way, if the new Pro license is significantly higher then the savings from upgrading the basic license become minimal. That said, is it still relatively simple to swap licenses around by just swapping the USB sticks? Because that's one potential way around it (my backup server has a pro license from a sale, but only has 7 drives attached, so I could upgrade the basic to plus).
  13. My problem is that I don't know if I'll ever need a third license, if someone had said definitively the upgrade costs are the same then buying a basic license is a no brainer for me to have spare, but at $130 for something I may never use makes me hesitant.
  14. Yeah I'd like to know this as well since I might buy a basic key to have for potential future use, I don't want to buy it and then find it costs $200 to upgrade to pro.
  15. One minor issue I had but kludged, if you want a completely local setup, I had to move wimboot over to the asset folder, otherwise it couldn't load it. I had this issue, although I don't know exactly what fixed it (presuming it's not an intermittent thing) Either starting from scratch (including removing appdata) and testing with the default script fixed it (later starting from scratch again but this time updating it now worked), changing it to have a dedicated IP address (obviously updating the DHCP server as well) or just messing around fixed it somehow. There's a separate tftp docker image which may work, although I've not used it since pfsense has one as a plugin.
  16. Anyone having issues with virtiofs and windows? I heard older versions were having issues and I'm wondering if they're still happening.
  17. It’s been a while, but I think it was something like reported issues with user shares, smb, etc. when I looked it up. If anyone can confirm these work then I will just use symlinks instead.
  18. Does anyone know an alternative to Unionfs which is supported on Unraid 11? I basically would like an equivalent to symlink which works on shares.
  19. Just updated, the GUI is displaying ok now. Going to preclear now, thank you for the work.

  21. See attached, the affected drive is "SAMSUNG_HD154UI_S1XWJ1LZ105147 (sdh)". hp-svr-diagnostics-20220726-1533.zip
  22. Are you running both at the same time? If so I've had issues when running multiple preclears and just ran one at a time.
  23. Could anyone please tell me if an incorrect displayed disk size can cause problems? I'd like to preclear a 1.5TB HDD I have, but the Preclear GUI reports it as a 2TB. On the Unraid Main page it is listed as 1.50TB under unassigned devices. Plugin is fully up to date on unRAID 6.10.3.
  24. I’ve actually been using an older SFF Sandisk cruzer fit for a few years now, haven’t had any issues myself…..so far. The main issue is that it’s going inside my old HP server (which has an internal USB-A) where there are no spare headers and I have plans for the rear ports. I might be able to rig something up or squeeze a ‘normal’ one in, but just buying an SFF drive was the easiest solution.
  25. Any other recommended low profile USB drives, since apparently the Samsung have issues? I’m planning on setting up another server but my preferred USB port has height restrictions.
