Hi, As gridrunner says here (https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=49319.0 ... Reply #7) amd cpu does not hyperthreading so it is just 8 plain cores (no pairing). I have not tested it though. It would be nice to hear from you guys who own the same CPU what is your experience with pairing cores? Will try to "set the emulator pin to '1'" and see how it performs. No more feedback on my previous questions? I would be interested in improving the performance of my rig further.

Hi again! I had time this weekend to tweak my Unraid+gaming vm. I did the following: -installed "Tips and Tweaks" PLUGIN (did change only the following): Disable NIC Flow Control?: yes Disable NIC Offload?: yes Disk Cache 'vm.dirty_background_ratio' (%): 5 Disk Cache 'vm.dirty_ratio (%): 10 Disable FTP Server & Telnet?: yes -added to my syslinux: "isolcpus=2,3,4,5,6,7" ..to isolate this cores from the ones (0,1) that Unraid should only use. I tried again to run SteamVR Performance Test and obtained this result:http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff75/razzta01/public/r9290%20stock%20steamvrtest3_after%20optimizing%20unraidampvm_zpsmkmrnodx.png It is better than the las one I scored ,since I get: -no frames limited by cpu -only 33% frames below 90fps (from previous 50%) -more frames rendered So I think the gaming vm has a better performance, what do you think? I would like to hear from you guys what else can I try to get similar performance as gridrunner´s server without investing more $$$ in my hw. I am joking... but maybe other things can be fine tuned. Dlandon also mentions in his first post (Topic: Performance Improvements in VMs by adjusting CPU pinning and assignment ) to isolate those vcpu that only Unraid will use. I just want anyone confirms this is ok before I do it. Hi, I am running a VM with this setup: OS:w10 pro x64 GPU: I passthroughed a r9290 (crimson driver v17.1.2) > seabios CPU: fx8350 (3/4 cores) RAM: 4/5/6 GB I have optimised win10 for gaming, disabling unnecessary services, cortana, etc. Only Steam is installed. My vm runs on an vdisk that runs on an SSD. It is placed in share domains (cache only). Games run on an SSD too, since they are installed in share games (SteamLibrary; cache only). I am running v6.2.4. My system has 8 cores and 16Gb in total. I am benchmarking my gpu with SteamVR Performance Test. Yesterday I could run the test and obtained a bad result:http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff75/razzta01/public/r9290%20stock_steamvrtest_zps9dc7gkt9.png Can anyone confirm if really with my gpu and this vm setup you get such a bad result? No OC done yet. What do you get with the same card? Or with a new 1070/1080 nvidia? Also, today I have been not able to redo the same test, windows -after starting the test- tells me I have not enough memory. Why, task manager tells me I have at least 3GB free! On the other hand I could run a 3dmark test. Hi, I guess I assigned too much ram to my vm´s and I got this error. I attach my diagnostics just to ask if anyone can confirm is this is what caused the issue and also to ask if I need to do anything now. I did a shutdown and restarted the array just 1 minute ago. Hi, thx all for the answers. If the game has been moved from cache disk to disk3, should I specify in my share settings to use only disk3? At the beginning I had: -included disks: all -Use cache disk: only. But now do I need to change it to this?: -included disks: all (I assume Steam will access disk3 through /mnt/user/games) -Use cache disk: no (so that all the writes while playing this game (i.e. download plugins) happen in disk3?)

Hi, As Jon tells us in his youtube video regarding the Steam option you create a "game" share (cache only is selected for this share), then you assign it to Steam (SteamLibrary) and then you install the game in this share. He says that if you will not use this game often, you can move it (using MC) from: /mnt/caches/game/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/game1 to /mnt/disk1/games/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/game1. My doubts are: -what properties does this last share have (/mnt/disk1/games....)? -if I understood Jon, I just move the game to the /mnt/disk1/.. share and once I enter Steam and click on start game it will inmediatly start the game (that we have moved to /mnt/disk1/.. share? Hi, First time I have this problem. I created my vm (windows 10) a couple of weeks ago and everything was working fine. Yesterday I started it but it did not have internet connection. I tried to open the shares within windows and they were not there. I have not changed anything: -same vm settings in unraid (using br0) -same settings in vm for ethernet On the other hand I can connect to the vm using vnc. I can ping my array from my laptop. My array has access to internet. Have no clue where to start. Pls tell me where to start looking. EDIT: So I had a look at the router config, and I deleted by mistake an IP at the static DCHP.

Hi, I think is this one, right?: The procedure If you are running a very old version of unRAID, such as v4.7 or older, skip down to the next section. Stop the array Unassign the old drive if still assigned (to unassign, set it to No Device) Power down [ Optional ] Pull the old drive (you may want to leave it installed for Preclearing or testing) Install the new drive Power on Assign the new drive in the slot of the old drive Go to the Main -> Array Operation section Put a check in the Yes, I'm sure checkbox (next to the information indicating the drive will be rebuilt), and click the Start button The rebuild will begin, with hefty disk activity on all drives, lots of writes on the new drive and lots of reads on all other drives All of the contents of the old drive will be copied onto the new drive, making it an exact replacement, except possibly with more capacity than the old drive.

Hi, I get the following warning in "fix common problems": Share system set to cache-only, but files / folders exist on the array. You should change the share's settings appropriately or use the dolphin / krusader docker applications to move the offending files accordingly. Note that there are some valid use cases for a set up like this. In particular: THIS My system share is set to use the cache drive "only". I don´t know how to look for this files/folders mentioned in the error message. Any idea how I can proceed? Rgds

I did not touch " Settings - Unassigned Devices - SMB Security", so it is set to "No". I have been playing around and found this funny thing: after much trying entering a user/password to get access to "/mnt/disks/deluge downloads", once I got access (after clean laptop reboot + erase windows login credentials + disable/enable ethernet adpater) then I could not access the rest of the public unraid shares. I started again from a laptop reboot and accessed at the beginning the public unraid shares, so then I got no access to "/mnt/disks/deluge downloads". It seems windows handle them as different things allowing only accessing one of them at a time. I will report back after I try whay johnnie.black suggested. P.S. So far working as suggested by johnnie.black ... thx all for help! Will report back if it fails.

Hi, I installed Unassigned Devices in 6.2.4. I attached a 500gb disk, mounted it and created /mnt/disks/deluge downloads . After that I cannot access this share from my laptop (although I can access all my public array shares). I am running w8.1 pro in my laptop. Everytime I try to access the "deluge downloads" share a pop up shows up in windows asking for my credentials. Nothing works here: my laptop login/password, unraid´s login(root)/password. Any idea how to solve this? Rgds.
