Hi, I am running Unraid 6.1.9. I plug an usb stick (8gb) using "Unassigned Devices" and mount it + share it (within UD). When I try to access it from my windows machine I see it but I get a login popup asking for credentials to log into unraid. Actually I have no password at all for Unraid. So I type my windows machine username (domain\username) and password and I can´t log in. I have been trying to look for a solution on the web, with no success. My windows machine is a vm with windows 8.1, but it happens the same with my laptop running also windows 8.1. Anyone can help with this? I really need to make this work. EDIT: Sorry I missed completely that I can access the "Settings>User Utilities>Unassigned Devices". There I can select to make my usb stick visible to the network.

This plugin doesn't automatically install any of its components. You have to go to the settings page and choose which ones you want. Hi, I installed perl and it detected fam15h_power it87 k10temp . I press save and get this error: grep: /etc/sensors.d/sensors.conf: No such dfile or directory . What can I do now? EDIT: I do get a temp value for this sensor which I guess is the MB sensor. But nothing for the cpu temp. Any idea how to solve this?

I am a little confused, what is the best way to install perl and which version should I install? I think the old way. http://mirrors.slackware.com/slackware/slackware64-14.1/slackware64/d/perl-5.18.1-x86_64-1.txz Into /boot/extra . This means just putting "perl-5.18.1-x86_64-1.txz" in /boot/extra?

As I said before, I want a thin client or similar (think also about a raspberry pi) that when I switch on it lets me connect to a VM based in Unraid. It´s simple. The only issue I want to make sure is it supports smooth video playback & internet browsing. Anyone that has tried a thin/zero client knows what I mean. Raspberrypi or similar hw costs 50$-100$. Thin clients are more expensive. I just wanted to ask if anyone in the forum has experience with any inexpensive hw and could propose which model he tried. I know raspberrypi runs smooth with some linux distributions, but I want to run windows in my VM. That´s the complicated part for finding the hw.

Hi, Thx for support! I guess this is not exactly what I am looking for. I don´t want to pay for a propietary solution. There must be out there a way to setup a hw piece like i.e. raspberry pi/nuc stick/or similar that is tiny and I can connet to my tv, plug in my cat5e cable in it´s ethernet adapter (gigabit and not 100Mb like in raspberrypi2), and just connect it "somehow" to my host (unraid). I did it like this with the basic HP zero client.

Hi, Now that I have my unraid (production) up and running, and I also use it to generate my windows (desktop and gamig) vm´s, I want to move one step forward. Actually I connect (passthrough) my mouse, keyboard, usb, monitor to my vm´s desktop and gaming. So I cannot share this hw with both vm´s up at the same time, but that is not a problem right now. The point is now I want to create 2 new vm´s (windows) for my wife and my son. Main aim of usage is as a desktop pc: browsing, youtube videos, movie playback and office. This vm´s will be accesed from different rooms at home where I plan to use a thin/zero client or similar (keyboard and mouse will be connected to this clients). My doubts: -which hw do you recommend for the clients? surfing, video watching should run smooth! -which connection method you propose I should use? I hope hearing from your experiences, since after much reading I still cannot find answers that suit my needs. P.S. Some months ago I tried an HP thin client (entry level), that I connected via RDP, but video playback was not smooth, neither web browsing.

I am sorry chbmb but I have not tried it yet. I was busy migrating my array to v6 and other personal stuff. Now I also have my old server up and running in v6 too. So I will try it definitely this week.

Hi guys, For a linux newbie can anyone confirm to me how to install this CLItools (I need screen for preclearing). I did it in my old unraid 5 as described in here http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Configuration_Tutorial#Install_Screen , but in 6b I have no unmenu any more.

After running 2 consecutive times: fstrim -v /mnt/cache | logger I get this log: Jan 9 17:46:19 Tower logger: /mnt/vm: 60644368384 bytes were trimmed Jan 9 17:52:11 Tower logger: /mnt/vm: 60644368384 bytes were trimmed 60644368384 bytes equals 56.479469299 GB. My hdd is 120GB. Can anyone comment this output? Should the secong run not be cero?

Pls, let me also know how you would proceed in this case: 1 parity drive 3tb, disk1 750gb _rfs (with data that I don't need), new added empty disk2 2tb_xfs. I want to delete all the data in disk1 and format it to xfs. Just that. A second scenario would be to assign the 2tb drive as disk1 and set the 750gb disk as cache drive. Rgds.

Yes. I just tried to passthrough an usb hub. Any device you plug in won´t work unless it is also passthroughed. I pluged an usb stick in my windows vm .. it was not recognized.
