  1. Does the X9SAE have IPMI? If ever you wanna sell the X7SPA I am interested. PM me if you want. I also experience slowdowns on a X9SCM-F (no IIF), with an E3-1240. Also V2 BIOS. I use a flashed M1015 and Areca 1200 controller. I experience it mostly when I'm heavy downloading and unpacking in SABNZBD
  2. I started a 3 pass preclear a couple of days a go on a 2 TB drive. Now after 51 hours it is at 66 % in the 3rd pass post-read at 66%. Is this normal?
  3. Right now I have sab installed in the apps directory on my cache drive. It is setup so that the mover is moving the unpacked files to the array at night. I want to use a SSD for cache drive where the apps incl. sab are installed. I want to setup sab so that it is doing its "dirty work" on a separate scratch_drive(poss. 2.5") outside the array and the unpacking straight to mnt/user0/file_dir. So I like to setup this "scratch_drive" separately with SMB-extra.conf. I like detailed information on how to do this. Just mounting this drive also works I think. Is it at all possible with SMB-extra.con? What are the drawbacks and benefits of both methods?
  4. Is it possible to setup a separate drive that only SABNZBD uses to do its "dirty work" like downloading, verifying and unpacking, outside the array. The unpacking can be done straight to the array without using the cache drive. Can someone give me a detailed description on how to do this, maybe by using SMB extra? I'm not a linux expert.
  5. At last a decent SMART report, showing 15 reallocated sectors in attr. #5 and 33 reallocated events. Gonna do 2 preclear passes, see how it goes. I guess there is a bad spot on the disks?
  6. maybe here: http://www.moddiy.com/
  7. There are no benfits in having a motherbord with 2 processors. Many good motherbords will do, either for Intel or AMD processors. Look here for examples: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?board=9.0
  8. Thanks again Joe, Clear guidance. There always is some risk involved, when doing this kind of stuff. This will help a lot.
  9. Thanks guys. All your remarks make sense, that is why I am so hesitant to do this. I know the risks involved and I value my data. Copying over the data is the safest method I think, but no option because of the time involved and I need empty disks that are precleared. Maybe I can get away with one empty disk? When I go and reset the configuration I think I only have to make sure what the parity and cache disk are. Data disks can be reassigned in any particular order? Order do they need to be assigned like before resetting the configuration? Will I risk clearing/wiping disks when I start the array after resetting the configuration?
  10. Is there a "fool-proof", yes I am the fool , and risk-free way to add disks from an unraid server that contain data to a new server without losing any data. The new server has 5.0 RC8 and holds 5 disks, parity and cache disk. Sorry, I asked this before.
  11. Thanks Joe, I'm not at the location where the server is right now, but a relative send me this. How he did it, I dont know, but here it is: 1 Raw_Read_Error_Rate 086 086 016 7405587 OK 2 Throughput_Performance 133 133 054 100 OK 3 Spin_Up_Time 117 117 024 617 (Ave OK 4 Start_Stop_Count 099 099 000 5420 OK 5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct 100 100 005 15 OK 7 Seek_Error_Rate 100 100 067 0 OK 8 Seek_Time_Performance 112 112 020 39 OK 9 Power_On_Hours 097 097 000 22540 OK 10 Spin_Retry_Count 100 100 060 0 OK 12 Power_Cycle_Count 100 100 000 131 OK 192 Power-Off_Retract_Count 096 096 000 5740 OK 193 Load_Cycle_Count 096 096 000 5740 OK 194 Temperature_Celsius 171 171 000 35 OK 196 Reallocated_Event_Count 100 100 000 33 OK 197 Current_Pending_Sector 100 100 000 0 OK 198 Offline_Uncorrectable 100 100 000 0 OK 199 UDMA_CRC_Error_Count 200 200 000 0 OK I hope this will do.
  12. One of the drives shows a increasing Reallocated Event Count: 196 Reallocated_Event_Count 100 100 000 33 OK Does this mean there are actually sectors being remapped? Is this reason to get worried? Should the server be stopped until the drive is ready to be replaced? Can this cause stuttering when a movie is played of the server?
  13. Can you give some more input on system component? I can be a flaky drive, cable, backplane, cabling..........and many more.
  14. On the Openelec forum I read there is an issue with Openelec running on the ATV1 with thr crystalhd chip. I couldn't find what the exact issue is and whether it has been solved yet. Does any of you know?
  15. Turns out that the ATV1 that I'll be getting has a 160 GB harddisk and XBMC and Boxee installed alongside the Apple software. Will the crystalHD be supported when I drop it in? Or do drivers need to be added? Might experiment with it a bit and then install OpenElec. I also read that the HDMI interface needs to be reset to RGBHigh? before installing OpenElec? Will an AppleTV allways boot from an USB stick when it is attached?
  16. How warm/hot does the harddisk get? Can the Apple TV be running fanless?
  17. That confirms what I read. XBMC relies on reading from the drive where it is installed on and the internal drive is somewhat quicker than an USB stick. I doubt though that a SSD will be even quicker. It is limited by the PATA interface.
  18. How does XBMC handle Bluray rips? Should it be ISOs or folder structure? Or won't it work at all?
  19. Which pocorns? Network topology? I'm using a wired Dune Base 3.0 and a wireless laptop and high bitrate mkvs or m2ts (remuxed bluray) play fine. What hardware is inside the server?
  20. I will, wont'jump to a SSD that soon. I'm more concerned with the network performance. Can you create a OpenElec patchstick in Windows?
  21. I might go with a Crucial M4 32 GB with SATA/PATA converter board.
  22. Unfortunately that code doesn't work with LogicSupply Holland. Total cost excl.shipping is 42,95 Euros. But I pulled one of ebay for 29,45 free shipping. Just takes a bit longer. Pity that it struggles with those mkvs. A Dune Base 3.0 plays them just fine and also has a 100mbit NIC. Also plays full bluray rips with HD audio fine. I like to hear if a directly attached solves it. Maybe a gigabit LAN to USB adapter might work? http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=Supported_Hardware#Ethernet_Cards http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=AppleTV_Upgrades_%26_Modifications Did any of you guys try any high bitrate mkvs? A 100 mbit NIC should be able to do 80-90 mbit.
  23. Where do I get that transcend drive for 32 Euro in Holland? Logic Supply?
  24. What size harddisk is inside? Is it needed? Isn't is a PATA disk? Are there such SSDs?
