I assume you expected / wanted the compose plugin to be triggered? I've set the Variable:DEBUG to true but nothing happened?

Thanks for sticking with me! 😅 root@Tower:/mnt/user/downloads# cat perms.txt This file prevents permissions from being applied/re-applied to '/config', if you want to reset permissions then please delete this file and restart the container. root@Tower:/mnt/user/downloads# clear How do I share docker compose? (I tried running docker compose in the docker terminal but that issued a command not found) I assume this is the plugin: Docker Compose Manager? I've installed it but I don't immediately see how to use it? It's added a compose stack? where to run this command? How to specifically run it? (tried in the docker terminal + while ssh'ed into the unraid machine. Directory settings in qBittorrentvpn: Nothing specified, only the standard settings: Path: /config: /mnt/user/downloads Other folders like completed / incomplete are within the /mnt/user/downloads folder Or do you mean this? Hope this gives sufficient information?

Ok, seems logic, but: I suppose you want to know this information when ssh'ed into the unraid server? As far as "me" as a share user, (macOS) I have full read / write authority on the (Public) shares. They seem to be set to user: nobody? How to proceed from here? drwxrwxr-x 1 nobody users 163 Jun 4 19:25 ./ drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 197 Jun 4 18:59 ../ drwxrwxr-x 1 nobody users 6 Jun 4 19:00 completed/ drwxrwxr-x 1 nobody users 6 Jun 4 19:00 incomplete/ -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 164 Jun 4 19:25 perms.txt drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 246 Jun 4 19:25 privoxy/ drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 61 Jun 4 19:25 qBittorrent/ -rw-rw-rw- 1 nobody users 109915 Jun 5 17:19 supervisord.log drwxrwxr-x 1 nobody users 6 Jun 4 19:00 unzipped/ root@Tower:/mnt/user/downloads#

H20King, Thanks for replying. That's what the values are in qBittorrentvpn config. Should the Variable: UMASK be set differently to allow for the Docker container to write to the share location?

[Support] binhex - qBittorrentVPN
Ok, now that I have access, let's try to solve the next issue: Following AlienTech42's example I've looked up a couple of torrents and added them to qBittorrent. It seems as if they start downloading, but after a couple of seconds, half a minute, they error out? Looking at the detail: error: Permission denied => so that applies to my downloads folder Question: How to set a Docker instances read /write acces to a shared folder? As what user does the qBittorrentvpn docker instance operate? (viewed from the shared folders of unraid)

[Support] binhex - qBittorrentVPN
Ok, thanks. I was / am totally unsure about all the various port addresses available. Also, I had no need to change any default port, so I just tried to follow instructions. What I find odd: (or do I misunderstand?) In general UI you have default settings and then you have the "set" value. This would then lead to e.g. a default value of 8080 and a set value of 8585, but it would not allow you to "change" the default value (since then it would not be a default anymore) Anyway, I've set both the ones that Kilrah highlighted to the same (8585) and now at least I can remotely log on using the webinterface!! Thanks a ton!

Thanks for answering! Well, I agree with what you point out. But I have / and am really trying out all ports, but apparently I can not remotely connect. Just to clarify a bit: first did an install months ago, but could not connect. Due to time constraints abandoned. Then, yesterday, tried to get it working, to no avail. Then, today, removed the docker container and started out afresh. Can't reach the unraid server on any of these ports 58946 / 8118 / 8585 / 9118 To be 100% complete, here's a full screenshot of the current settings: =========================================================================== This was the previous install & test (can be discarded)

[Support] binhex - qBittorrentVPN
Hi, I'm looking for some help to solve my binhex-qbittorrentvpn setup. I've been trying around for hours now but I'm totally unable to connect to the webinterface. To be clear: To start with, I have no VPN enabled (yet). (I want to see it fully operational before spending money). Privoxy is not enabled either. What I've tried so far: go into the docker console tested pinging one docker container to another (works) uninstall the binhex-qbittorrentvpn and reinstall using Finder (macos) went into the //unraid/appdata/binhex-qbittorrentvpn/qBittorrent/config/ folder and edited the qBittorrent.conf file to add the famous WebUI\Password_PBKDF2="@ByteArray(ARQ77eY1NUZaQsuDHbIMCA==:0WMRkYTUWVT9wVvdDtHAjU9b3b7uB8NR1Gur2hmQCvCDpm39Q+PsJRJPaCU51dEiz+dTzh8qbPsL8WkFljQYFQ==)" line There is no way I can connect to the webinterface of qBittorrent. I'm under the impression that the container is running but that the error is somewhere in the port configuration, however I followed AlienTech42's excellent youtube instructions to check my setup. Whatever I do, I keep getting "The 192.168.231 site refused to connect" Here are some screenshots of my system: From the log: 2025-06-05 10:58:08,904 DEBG 'watchdog-script' stdout output: [info] Attempting to start qBittorrent... 2025-06-05 10:58:08,912 DEBG 'watchdog-script' stdout output: [info] qBittorrent process started [info] Waiting for qBittorrent process to start listening on port 8080... 2025-06-05 10:58:09,153 DEBG 'watchdog-script' stdout output: [info] qBittorrent process listening on port 8080 What I noticed is that changing the 8080 port seems not to be taken into account when doing a right-click > WebUI. So e.g. when I set the UI port to 9090, the right-click > WebUI keeps going to IP:8080. That's also why I have not changed that port setting, just to avoid any problem there. I've tried using several browsers: Safari, Brave but nothing helps. I keep getting the refused to connect error. If you need any more information, please let me know. Thanks for helping out! P.S. I also have binhex-krusader running and that docker container runs fine.

end of year sale?
Hi, Just wondering if there's any special pricing planned for purchases during the end of year holidays? I'm looking to get into building a 2nd Unraid server as a back-up, hence my questiong. Thanks for helping out or pointing to anything I might have overlooked.

sort out disks order - HOWTO?
Hi folks, I "was" running unraid on a Medion system. I had 4x 18 TB drives sitting in an Addonics external disk housing. The external disk housing supports connecting via esata or usb. Since esata did not seem to work, I opted to connect using the usb port. This setup entailed two PSU's and no proper control of hard drives, thinking of sleep, SMART settings etc. So today I decided to try and fit the 4x 18 TB drives into the Medion cabinet. With some work this worked out. Tried to reboot my Unraid system => the array could not start. The next thing I did, was take the 4x 18 TB drives out of the Medion PC, and put them back into the Addonics (usb) disk housing. As I had taken a photo, I could easily put the drives back in the same physical order. Tried to reboot with the intention to check out the drive order, but => the array could not start. The next thing I tried: In the Main view, I can select any of the 4x 18 TB drives as either disk1, 2, 3 or 4. As far as my logic goes I have a maximum of 16 different disk order configuration possibilities. (Some searching yields there are 24 combinations) So I tried selecting each of the 4 drives as the first drive (while the 3 other drives remained unassigned / missing). Each time, Unraid seems to do some thinking, but then returns "wrong" next to the Disk number. This of course can't be true, nevertheless I can not start my array. What are my options of sorting this out? Can I manually mount each drive to inspect some config file maybe holding the drive ID? Thanks for helping out!

getting started with docker on unraid - HowTo?
I think / hope I solved my own issue: While I was examining Docker related settings (I know little or nothing about them..) I noticed that > Settings > Docker showed the Docker data-root as btrfs vDisk. Since all my drives are xfs, I changed the setting of data-root accordingly from btrfs to xfs and Tada!! Docker started to work!

getting started with docker on unraid - HowTo?
Hi folks, First of all a short resumé of what has been done, what has happened: Phase 1 - a while ago, somewhere between 1 and 2 months ago, I started out with my first Unraid system (trial) - I first ran it on a Intel NUC that had a Addonics 4 disk housing connected using simple usb. Everything ran quite ok, a lot of getting used to but nothing special there. - I wanted to try and start Docker, but that was not possible, message: Docker Service failed to start At that time I thought it was maybe due to the NUC, not being capable or? But in fact I did not know. Phase 2 With the summer sale, I wanted to buy a couple of Unraid licenses, but that turned out to be more difficult than I had imagined.. I'm still trying to purchase an upgrade to upgrade my starter to unleashed or lifetime.. but up to now it did not work.. I had also decided to move the Unraid install (usb boot disk + 4x 16 TB hard drive, no cache yet) to a 2019 or 2020 Medion PC. - upgraded the Medion PC with 64 GB of ram - inserted a PCIe X1 esata card and connected the Addonics 4 disk housing using esata - had quite some trouble getting Unraid up and running but in the end using Tools > New Config and then checking keep all (Array slots and Pools slots) it worked out and I got Unraid up and running. Time for Docker once again.. - Docker Service failed to start I also got a couple of disk errors and looking at the logs, I assume these are due to esata, so I reverted the Addonics 4 disk housing back to usb instead of esata. Again did the new config trick and Unraid and its shares are up and running with no problem. Did some searching and read that Docker needs it's own share "appdata" so I created that, but still Docker fails to start. Then I tried to also delete the Docker vDisk location /mnt/user/system/docker/docker.img but this did not help either. Here's a short System Information: Model: Custom M/B: MEDION B550A4-EM Version 1.0 s/n MH9301G93003222 BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. Version 550A4W0X.101 Dated 07/09/2019 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core @ 3400 MHz HVM: Enabled IOMMU: Enabled Cache: L1 - Cache: 576 KiB, L2 - Cache: 3 MiB, L3 - Cache: 16 MiB Memory: 64 GiB DDR4 (max. installable capacity 128 GiB) Network: bond0: fault-tolerance (active-backup), mtu 1500 Kernel: Linux 6.1.99-Unraid x86_64 OpenSSL: 1.1.1v Any help to get Docker started and going, or any pointer most welcome!!

smb share "Time Machine Folder" = visible in macOS Finder but = invisible in Time Machine settings (to select to be used for back ups)
Hi, I'm in the process of evaluating Unraid and can so far see that I will quickly get addicted :-) I'm trying to set up a share (similar to Synology) that will be used for Time Machine backups. When I use Finder to connect to my Unraid server, I can see the Time Machine Folder that I created alright. But this very same folder does not show up in the list of Available Disks in Time Machine. In my search for solutions, I have found mbentley/timemachine docker. This works perfectly fine, but with that I have a problem that it will not allow any more connections. So my question is twofold: 1. Why does my Time Machine Folder not show up in Time Machine's Available Disks list - and what do I need to do to solve this? 2. Using the mbentley/docker-timemachine (link) how can I adjust settings so that it will accept more connections?

getting started - specific situation - advice request
Hi, A couple of years ago, I wanted to start with Unraid. Due to moving houses, changing jobs etc, this has never materialised. Upon reflection, I think the main reason why it did not materialise, is due to the fact that I have a couple of Synology's running, and had no need for other / more storage space. So now, I'm back again and would like to get started but have some specific questions. An eight bay Synology failed, and I would like to recover / copy / move data from these 8 drives. I would need approx. 54 TB to move all data. As you can imagine, it is not evident to have 8 SATA connections in a common PC. So I have this HP 800 G1 i7 system, to which I added a 6 port sata card. In conjunction with a separate external power supply, I can connect and power all 8 drives + some other drives. Now to my issue: I would like to use this HP 800 G1 i7 as my (main) Unraid machine. But the hardware is not available yet.. I also have a couple of Promise Pegasus R6's and an R4. What I'm considering: Phase 1 - plug the Promise Pegasus R4 into a Intel NUC 8BEB - put 4x 18 TB drives into the Promise Pegasus, and configure them in passthrough (so all kinds of internal raid disabled) - I would then like to run Unraid on this Intel NUC and configure the 4x 18 TB as storage - then move over all rescued data from the HP 800 G1 i7 to the Intel NUC Phase 2 - once the data rescued, disconnect all 8x 8 TB drives from the ex-Synology, move these back to the Synology and set up the Synology as a new virgin system - move all rescued data from the Intel NUC 4x 18 TB data storage back to the now newly set up Synology - then move the 4x 18 TB drives to their final destination: in the HP 800 G1 i7 and run Unraid on this system Now my question: Can I use Unraid in this scenario? - Unraid would first run on the Intel NUC with 4x 8TB - the disks and the Unraid stick would then be moved in a later stage to the HP 800 G1 i7 Thanks a lot for helping out!
