AFP ports? SOLVED--setup openvpn

ok so i am trying to use afp on 5.0b4 it connects with the internal ip address by when i use my dyndns one forwarded from router side it doesn't work

is there a port i can open up to connect to afp

the dyndns is working perfectly with smb and all other setups just not on the afp right now i'm doing

Are you trying to connect to the afp shares from outside your local network??  If you are I HIGHLY suggest you undo whatever you have done to get SMB working and forget about doing afp the same way.

 

There is no protection against someone trying to find and connect to those shares, you are leaving yourself open for a world of hurt

 

You need to be looking into something like VPN to get connected to your home network securely and then you can mount the afp and smb shares like you are sitting at home on your own wireless.

look for hamachi in the users customization forum

it works pretty ok and is pretty easy to install

 

AND it is free

 

i am using this as a temporary solution till i get the time to hack my router with ddr wrt firmware so i can setup openvpn
