Drive replacement question

Recommended Posts

I have an array of five 8 TB drives (four data drives, one parity).  One (data) drive has died.  I am going to replace it.  I know the parity drive should be the largest in your array.  That being said, can I replace my failed 8 TB drive with something bigger - possibly only being able to use the first 8 TB?

Those things in your screenshots do not say there is anything wrong with the disk. In fact, the healthy SMART indicator suggests there is nothing at all wrong with the disk.

Bad connections are much more common than bad disks. Probably better to get your connections fixed before even attempting parity swap, if that is indeed what you want to do.
