kidlatngkavite
Hi everyone. I just installed a secondary NIC on my unraid server. I noticed that every reboot the ip address switches between this 2 NIC. I have to go to the console to reboot it several times until ip address switches to the correct NIC. any network setting i might have missed to fix the ip addresses to the appropriate NICS? thanks! JorgeB
Do you mean that both NICs are set to DHCP and getting an IP from the same router? Quote Link to comment
Frank1940
Are you talking about the addresses assigned for eth0 and eth1? Do the MAC addresses switch also? (Do the MAC addresses 'stick' to the IP address or to eth0/eth1 assignment?) Quote Link to comment

I use the mac address to identify if the NICs get the correct IP. The NICS get randomly assigned to eth0 or eth1, . Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
What Unraid release? Some NIC detection issues were fixed on 6.10.3, so make sure you're on that release. Quote Link to comment

JorgeB
Please post diags when the IPs are correct and also from when they switch, you can type diagnostics in the console if you lose access to the GUI. Quote Link to comment

JorgeB
Thanks, network-rules.cfg is not getting created, let me see if I can find out why. Quote Link to comment
bonienl
Jul 2 00:47:27 Unraid kernel: Hypervisor detected: VMware Can you run Unraid natively. In this setup the network interfaces are not being detected by udev and hence no rules file is created, this results in random selection each time the system is started. 1 Quote Link to comment

Hi, Is this a limitation in running unraid on ESXi? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Virtualizing Unraid is not officially supported, doesn't mean you cannot do it, but some things might not work as expected, I missed you were doing it, though I didn't know it would interfere with udev. Quote Link to comment
