Disk error smart report attached

Recommended Posts

I doubt this all happened at once. You should have been seeing SMART warnings for this disk on the Dashboard page.

Do you have Notifications setup to alert you immediately by email or other agent as soon as a problem is detected?

Maybe you have other problems you haven't noticed.

I have done this before, if I recall:

1. Stop the array

2. Unselect malfunctioning disk

3. Start the Array (missing disk will be emulated0

4. Shut down the server

5. Replace the disk

6. Start the server

7. Stop the array and select the replacement disk

8. Start the array and the replacement disk will be rebuilt.

Procedure good?

Pretty sure you have unneeded steps in there, only used if forcing a rebuild on the same physical disk.

It will emulate the disk when it sees the original disk is missing.
