je82
Hi, Supermicro has this feature where they have dedicated SATA ports on some of their motherboard that support some kind of device that acts like a harddrive but is a small flash drive but faster then a ssd, they call this "SuperDOM" (https://www.supermicro.com/products/nfo/SATADOM.cfm) I am interested in hearing if i can use a device like this for my unraid install rather then a slow flash usb drive? What say you? Edited August 16, 2022 by je82 Quote Link to comment
Squid
You'd ultimately have to try it to see what happens. But, you can run Unraid on a USB 1.0 / 1.1 with no speed degradation. The OS runs completely from RAM and the flash drive is only used to store the files needed to unpack and keep the various settings. Quote Link to comment
SLNetworks
Aren't USB sticks prone to death though? I'm sure it won't work without a lot of hassle cause Unraid wants a UUID from a USB stick. A SataDOM as the host drive, or mirrored host, would certainly be welcomed! One of the things that irk me about Unraid requirements. *rolls eyes* Quote Link to comment

l337Max
It doesn't work because it is SATA drive not USB. Quote Link to comment
