unRAID Server Release 5.0-beta14 Available

Featured Replies

Who knows...perhaps your southbridge chip is marginal and cannot sustain the 6Gbps link under load.

As long as 3Gbps is stable, it will not matter at all.

Linux kernel v3.2.0 is out.  Here's a 3.2.0 unRAID kernel / bzroot to test on beta14:

3.2.0 files for beta14

Has anybody tried this with a LSI controller?

Short of purchasing a new license to put on a new USB flash drive, what files can I delete (after making a copy of course) to bring me back to a stock install?  I disabled all plugins, auto installs, scripts, etc. already.

why not just delete the entire USB drive (ie, format) after making a backup and treat it as a fresh install?

What is your theory as to why this will fix the problem.  I see the problem as emhttp trying to write to memory that it doesn't own, or some such problem related to how it is programmed.  If I have done the equivalent of chkdsk with my Mac running Disk Utility, I fail to see how this reformatting voodoo is going to help.

if there is a corrupted file on your USB Drive or an addon has corrupted/changed settings on your setup then this 'voodoo' may very well fix the problem.

Rather than guessing/hoping you've delete all the files that might be the problem and redownloading the install and copying it to the thumbdrive, if you make a backup of the USB Drive and format it you know for sure there is nothing left over from your previous install and could affect it now and make the problem reoccur.

if there is a corrupted file on your USB Drive or an addon has corrupted/changed settings on your setup then this 'voodoo' may very well fix the problem.

My install was bone stock and running for months flawlessly before I upgraded to Pro.  No addons to corrupt anything; to be honest I don't even know where to get addons.  Others are reporting this problem as well, and it is unlikely that we all have corrupted flash drives.

I'm going to try the reformat/reinstall thing tonight, but I see it as bloodletting or waving a dead chicken.  How do I back up my configuration/settings?

Today I only see two folder on my share named Videos. Yesterday there were 286 folders. The only folders that I can see are those stored on cache disk.  Browsing through the hard disk 1 Unraid tells me this error:

Warning: filetype(): Lstat failed for /usr/local/emhttp/mnt/disk1/Video in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/indexer/Browse.php on line 21 Warning: filectime(): stat failed for /usr/local/emhttp/mnt/disk1/Video in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/indexer/Browse.php on line 31 Warning: filetype(): Lstat failed for /usr/local/emhttp/mnt/disk1/nzbget in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/indexer/Browse.php on line 21 Warning: filectime(): stat failed for /usr/local/emhttp/mnt/disk1/nzbget in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/indexer/Browse.php on line 31 Warning: filetype(): Lstat failed for /usr/local/emhttp/mnt/disk1/slimserver in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/indexer/Browse.php on line 21 Warning: filectime(): stat failed for /usr/local/emhttp/mnt/disk1/slimserver in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/indexer/Browse.php on line 31

i can't remember the exact files, and am at work so i can't check, but if you backup the whole USB Drive that will backup your settings (i expect there are .conf/.ini/.xml style files that are pretty easy to find)

and some free advise, don't be a d!(k to people that are trying to help you. Talking about voodoo, bloodletting and dead chickens isn't nessesary.

Backing up your config folder and then copying it to  fresh install should save all your settings.

Are you able to run the "Fix Permissions" script on the UNRAID admin website?

Do you mean the "New Permissions" in the Utils Page of the Unraid Web Interface? I tried but nothing changes

Tom - looks like there's a Netatalk update out as well.

Did a try with the new kernal 3.2.2 in B14, but it's same issu for me regarding NFS/Fuse.

There are also a new SAMBA version

25 January 2012

Samba 3.6.2 Available for Download

Major enhancements in Samba 3.6.2 include:

o  Make Winbind receive user/group information (bug #8371).
o  Several SMB2 fixes.

I'm compiling B14 with latest kernel 3.2.2,

I Wonder how I shall do to add both SAMBA and NetTallk to the update bzroot ? any one that can update with instruction, then I would be happy  :D

One way for Samba, would be to make a new Slackware package, store it somewhere other than /boot/extra and include the following in the "go" script:

upgradepkg <Samba pkg>

/etc/rc.d/rc.samba restart

I'm not familiar with Nettalk, so you might be able to do the same for that package as well.  I haven't the time, right now, to research.

You also might have to know what options Tom uses to build the packages.

Cheers.

I did this to get a package of latest samba, but I have not tested it yet, going to try it on my test machine later.

On my full slackware installation (vmware)

mkdir /tmp/samba

cd /tmp/samba

wget http://us3.samba.org/samba/ftp/stable/samba-3.6.2.tar.gz

wget -r -nH ftp://slackware.osuosl.org/pub/slackware/slackware-current/source/n/samba

cd pub/slackware/slackware-current/source/n/samba/

cp /tmp/samba/samba-3.6.2.tar.gz .

Delete old version of samba

####edit samba.SlackBuild, and change on 2 places so it's match the extension of the new file

  >>>> samba-*.tar.xz >>>>  samba-*.tar.gz

  >>>> samba-$VERSION.tar.xz >>>>  samba-$VERSION.tar.gz

$ chmod +x samba.SlackBuild

$ ./samba.SlackBuild

Slackware package /tmp/samba-3.6.2-i486-1.txz created.

That would be great seanant. Depends on what version you have running now. Follow the update instructions for 5.0 beta 14 but replace bzroot and bzimage from the link above. I do not know if this kernel addresses the issue that happens after drive spin down on LSI controllers. I wouldn't  try this on a system you don't  want to lose data on.

Tried 3.16 & 3.20... neither worked in my setup...

Same problems if you let the drives spin down :( :(

I'm ready to test once the next build is available.  Please let me know and I'll test ASAP.

I think that it is worthwhile identifying what LSI f/w version you are using.

I had other problems when I installed 3x5 cages which were resolved by upgrading my 2008-based controller from P9 to P11 f/w.

I have the Intel RS2BL080.

They are running on the P11 f/w.

I see P12 f/w is out, but haven't tried it yet...

I'll flash and try.

Is there anything special to configure in the unraid os?  Or will it just work if supported?

Thanks
