I could use this drive to rebuild disk 2.

  • Author

I may lose data that on disk 7, right? In the original configuration I had a disk7 in the array.

  • Community Expert

you can assign it as disk2 in the new config, but we aren't rebuilding yet

  • Author

Oh okay.

  • Community Expert

original disk 7 must work well enough to emulate disk2 with all other disks

ok

All disks must be assigned exactly as before including original disk7, except you can assign new disk as disk2 since we are going to disable it.

Tools - New Config - Retain All - Apply.

If any drives are not assigned, assign them as before.

Check BOTH Parity Valid and Maintenance Mode checkboxes then Start the array. This will accept all drives into the array without changing any of them

Stop the array, unassign disk2, start the array in Normal mode. This will disable disk2.

Then post new diagnostics so we can see if emulated disk2 is mountable.

Are those assignments correct? Disk2 should be the new disk, but it also thinks disk1 is new. Looks like that is the same disk1 from your earlier diagnostics though.

Some drives changed IDs, likely due to the controller change. You possibly used a RAID controller before

What did you do between taking those 2 screenshot?

  • Author

I assigned the new 16TB drive for disk2 14TB drive.

  • Author

Is something off now?

  • Community Expert

Oh, I see, you changed disk2 to the new disk. Not immediately clear why it thinks that is not a new assignment, but maybe the explanation could be found earlier in the thread.

Checkboxes very important

I will pause my actions on this project until I heard from you. Let me know if I did something wrong. When you can , thanks for now. Just another shot of screen Array operation.
