Getting this warning.

Just waiting for me to make sure I do these steps correctly: "Stop the array, unassign disk2, start the array in Normal mode. This will disable disk2." Any steps outline would be appreciated. I just donot want to do the wrong thing at this point..

That is the failing disk that was assigned as disk2. You have a new 16TB assigned as disk2 now.

To unassign disk2, you choose the "not assigned" selection from the dropdown.

We are disabling disk2 so Unraid will emulate it by getting its contents from the parity calculation by reading all other disks. But we need to check those contents before actually rebuilding.

So, after disabling disk2

post new diagnostics so we can see if emulated disk2 is mountable.

Okay. Starting the steps. Stop array and unassigned disk 2.

Will start array now. Just stating ' no device" was listed and "unassigned" was not listed, is normal, right

Dropdown did not have "not assigned" Would no device be suffice?

yes that's right

Start the array in Normal mode (don't check Maintenance mode box) with disk2 as no device.

Then post new diagnostics

The start option is not active now.

Reboot maybe?

Those appear to be old diags, still showing errors on disk 2. Make sure you post the current one, with the array started.

Your screen shots suggest you need to check the "Yes I want to do this" to be able to start the array.

Next step would be to assign the new 16TB drive to Disk2, right?

  • Community Expert

Emulated disk2 is mounted and showing more than 9TB of data. You can read (and even write) the emulated drive. Take a look at its contents if you want.

The emulated contents is exactly what will be rebuilt when you assign a disk to that slot and start the array.

Correct. Then start the array to begin rebuild.

I would expect it to take more than a day to rebuild 16TB. And it must rebuild the entire disk regardless of how much used space it has, so it will be completely in sync with parity.

Okay I am going to stop the array, then assign 16TB drive. Next start the array .

That looks OK so far. There does seem to be some corruption on disk7 but we can look at that after disk2 rebuilds.

And your Docker/VM related shares are all over the place, we can clean that up later too.

Looks OK so far. Yes will have to look at Disk 7 ASAP. Yes. My Docker/VM is a little short from a nightmare. Very early stages of me and Uraid, taking bit of knowledge here and there ; then going on my own.
