Just noticed the RC-14 release.

Has there been any changes in RC-14 that would affect this issue?

Thank you very much for that info Tom!

JPilla415, I didn't want to rub in while Tom was attempting to give you steps to resolve, but I knew they wouldn't work. It's good thought as I am not sure he has followed througth other threads were I chased this all this down but good to go througth the motions anyway. He's a smart dude, and I could have missed something easily as Linux is not my game. The info above should be the missing link I was looking for. I need to perform a test now with that info and will share the results with Tom. Hopefully after that he will issue the steps anyone with this issue must take in order to repair. Mine has not come back since resolving a while back. But these top-level afp xattribs had me stumped as to why the various amounts were beeing created and in different shares, with no pattern whatsoever. With Tom's latest few changes and explanation above this issue may be resolved shortly. Tonight the wife wanted some quality time, so no tinkering for me this evening. Hopefully tomorrow.

Awesome. I really appreciate both your and Tom's dedication to working through this.

Looking forward to utilizing my cache drive fully again.

I cleared out the cache drive entirely.

Deleted ALL files and folders.

Aside from my "apps" folder which exists only on the cache drive. It is enabled as "cache only" in the webGUI share settings section for that share.

I then created a folder that mirrors one on my data disks. Placed a test file in it. Attempted to run the mover. Same failure.

I then also tried to copy a test file directly to the general "Music" share folder. The item was successfully copied to the cache drive. Tried to run the mover scripts. Same failure.

SysLog attached. Running RC-13.

How did you create the folder and file on the cache disk?  Did you use shell command, that is, "mkdir" followed by "touch" or something like that?

  • Author

Via a mapped drive in Windows Explorer.

Please type this command and post it's output:

getfattr -Rd /mnt/disk*

This might take a long time to run depending on how many totals files you have.

Can anyone point out the next steps? I'm unclear if the above log shows that all of the mentioned shares need fixing, or just a select few.

Want to be 100% before I mess with my data.

Thanks.

If files under /mnt/user/cache/your_share also exist under /mnt/disk*/your_share then the files have been copied but not deleted and duplicates are on the cache drive. You can manually delete all duplicates under /mnt/user/cache. Delete any empty share directories in /mnt/user/cache as well.

I would experiment with a file you do not care about, as I would be very hesitant about deleting files in fear both copies would be deleted.

I'll create a script for you to clean up those problems.  Please send me an email: tomm@lime-technology and we will continue this via email tomorrow (Monday).

Anyone who has run/enabled AFP at one time or another should check for the existence of ANY "user.org.netatalk.supports-eas.xxxx" extended attribute(s) in their array/cache drive. Whether these extended attributes are corrupted or not, they should not exist at all; and should contact Tom for help in resolving.

They're are many (it seems) people who run unRAID and are not very tech and/or Linux savvy and could end up losing data, if attempting to move and delete directories, files etc. based on other suggestions or using a command line created for someone else. So it would be best if they worked with Tom in this particular problem, and suggestions by others are not given.

I've been working with JPilla415 to clean up the mess made by an earlier bug that's been fixed.  I'm going to mark this "solved".  I developed a script to clear all xattrs and errors with xattrs on a directory, so if anyone has this problem send me an email and we'll work to correct it: [email protected]

Slowly working through all of the disks on my server.

Two down and three to go. Everything is going smoothly so far.

A HUGE thank you to Tom for the one-on-one support.

Also to Madburg for sticking with me through several different forum threads!

Hi - I sent an email earlier this week as I've been having this same issue, too. Let me know if there is any more information needed or if I just missed the reply back.

Thanks for any help, it's appreciated.

Wanted to thank Tom for his help over the weekend. Everything is working now and *extremely* appreciated. It was very nice of him to do that.

I seem to be running into this issue and could use some help.  I disabled AFP for the time being, but mover still doesn't successfully rsync over cached items.
