Funny  ;) then I can update to a different time then, to 10  :D or can you try out more what should be the best?

you can also try with different #curl" line in the plugin, some one else have some issue right now with the command I have activated in the plugin on line 108

Please feel free and change to other "curl line" below line 108, and see if someone ls is better  ;) but add the connect time out command on these other lines when you try these out

i guess i am not clear enough. time is not the problem. problem is the option you use. --connect-timeout option doesnot make the command to time out in my case (i dont know why). but i try --max-time option with curl at "/var/local/emhttp/plugins/openvpnserver/check-my-ip.sh"

and that solves my problem.

got it  ;) going to use

--max-time

instead. and we can hope this would solve our timeout issues

Hi,

I installed the plugin finally and set the config and cert paths, but I cant seem to figure out how to get the OpenVPN Software on my machine.

Status:  OpenVPN Server is NOT RUNNING

Plugin / Build
OpenVPN Server Plugin Version      Local Version: 1.1.23     Online Version: 1.1.23
OpenVPN Software Build             Local Version: <NONE>      Online Version:2.3.2

Anyone could help me get this sorted?

Thanks in advance!

Never mind, got an install of OpenVPN 2.3.1 running now, couldnt find version 2.3.2 for slackware:)

??? what, did you install it by your self ? all files that are needed are being installed in the plugin!, so no need to install anyone manually, what error did you get when installing the plugin for the openvpn??

I didnt receive any error, it installed it self after I rebooted, I checked the plg and only openvpn-2.3.2-i486-2-autologin.txz is installed, even now as i rebooted my server again, it says that OpenVPN Software Build is not installed. and thus  I cannot start my OpenVPN Server.

sorry for the vague post, I got the server running but I can't get my client to connect anymore. I ended up reinstalling everything so the server started. also recreated a new client and trying to connect, the client just stays at connecting. Not sure what I am missing as it was working before. let me know if you need any logs or anything.

I also tried not using a profile and connecting and it prompts me for a username and password but not sure what that would be.

sorry new to all this openvpn stuff

Post your client config file (blank out your WAN IP address). Or send via PM

Which openvpn client version are you using and on what os?

Also on your LAN go to www.canyouseeme.org and check the port number you are using to see if your router/firewall is allowing it through

Post the output of your client log after trying to connect as well. On windows, right click on openvpn in then icon tray, log

after installing openssl again with installpkg /boot/packages/openssl-1.0.1c-i486-3.txz

finally i can add client.

it is odd, at my syslog just 1.0.1c is there none of different versions. And also this is the log part of installing openvpnserver plugin.i didnt install anything after openvpn.

file /boot/packages/openssl-1.0.1c-i486-3.txz: already exists
  upgradepkg --install-new /boot/packages/openssl-1.0.1c-i486-3.txz ...
+==============================================================================
| Skipping package openssl-1.0.1c-i486-3 (already installed)
+==============================================================================

But still cant start, says started but not. (according to status at plugin page.)

root@Tower:/mnt/user/No_move/opn_cert/clients# /etc/rc.d/rc.openvpnserver start
Starting Openvpn server.....
nohup: redirecting stderr to stdout
OK... Started

:o finally i find the conflicting plugin: serviio !

you can see the terminal screen snapshots attached with and without serviio installed (with reboot).

if anybody has an idea i ll be listening.

Edit the serviio.plg file with notepad ++ And see what version of OpenSSL it is downloading

If its a number version below what openvpn server.plg uses then it may be conflicting

serviio doenst install openssl.

Ran the command again, same output as before.

root@Ark:/boot/config/plugins# whereis openvpn
openvpn:
root@Ark:/boot/config/plugins#

if you:

1) start the server

2) install serviio

3) install openvpn

4) create cert etc and try to start openvpn it will create cert & start without problem.

But

if you:

1) copy serviio & openvpn plg file to /boot/config/plugins

2) restart the server

3) create cert etc and try to start openvpn it will not create cert properly & cant start openvpn.

Or

1) copy serviio plg file to /boot/config/plugins

2) restart the server

3) install openvpn plg

4) create cert etc and try to start openvpn it will create cert & start without problem.

Googled serviio, it looks like it using openssl-1.0.1e-i486-1.txz in some way ??

yoc an verify what version is installed by....

[1] Login to unraid from putty.
[2] Type openssl and press enter.
[3]type version and press enter.
[4]type exit

or

openssl version | grep -E "1\.0\.[[:digit:]][[:alnum:]]?"

find another fact you have to install serviio first. thats why when installing in bootup is not working. Because in bootup plugins intalled in alphabetic order...

openvpn,serviio installed, openssl output:

root@Test:~# openssl
WARNING: can't open config file: /usr/lib/ssl/openssl.cnf

just serviio installed, openssl output:

root@Test:~# openssl
-bash: openssl: command not found

so i guess serviio definitly doesnt install openssl but somehow manipulates the config.

edit:i attach the installlog for installing openvpn and serviio

installlog.txt

it seems SABNZBD conflicts with OPENVPN Server as well. Cannot run both together otherwise the VPN will not start

SAB use a older version of openSSL, so I'm not surprised, latest Openvpn server  link openssl-1.0.0.cnf to openssl.cnf in  easy-rsa / 2.0 folder. This was one if the issue we have before, that is solved now.

But we might shall try to remove the link in this folder and in the plugin, and see if everyone can run it anyway, this file whichopensslcnf in easy-rsa / 2.0 folder shall take care of what version of openssl you are running. but since some have issue we did the "linking"

Maybe we shall remove this again and see how it works?? , but then we might get some issue that was highlighted for some days ago ?

Maybe it's time to sync all plugin that use openSSL to use same version.

Can you re install openvpn server and see if SAB is OK?

//Peter

I dont want to touch my openvpn installation now its running perfectly with my clients attached ! :D

I will update the SAB plugin to use the same openssl version and check that way.

All plugins need to have some uniformity really (which i think is what Tom is trying to achieve)

trying to reinstall after getting my unraid stable again but getting this error running installplg openvpn_server.plg

if you click the slackware link, it is working so no issue there.

what other plugins are installed?

the plg downloads other packages before lzo so your network card is already function before the plg runs.

thoughts?
