sebg35 Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Hello, I finally managed to get it working. I had change BIOS mode to Legacy insteed of UEFI.... Now it's working but with poor performance in raid (100Mbs). That's the deal for security i assume 🙂 Thanks for your help Quote

Qwizh Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 Hi guys! I am trying to increase my storage capacity, so I built myself a new server. So, I switched from a PowerEdge R210 II to a selfbuilt server with a Fujitsu d3643-h and an Intel Core i5 8500. It's got two 16GB Crucial 2666 uDIMMs. I tried to move over my Dell Perc H200 (flashed to IT mode) to the new server. But, when booting the server, it hangs on the Fujitsu BIOS splash screen. I tried applying the electrical tape mod, but to no avail. I tried different orientations with the tape, but that didn't help unfortunately. Does anyone know what's wrong or what else could be tried? Lou Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 (edited) Hi I ran into a new problem when upgrading my mother board I removed a super micro mother board x11SAE that ran great with 2 LSI SAS9207-8i cards I replaced the board with another Super Micro board x11SPM-F and installed one LSI card in it and plug the other 2 SAS cable right into the mother board and no matter what setting I tried the board would just loop and not pick up my usb drive nor could I get into the cmos setting until I removed the LSI card, then I could boot up from the USB and once again access the Cmos setting. Does anyone have any idea if there might be a setting I'm missing on this board or is there a compatibility issue. I did try the tape trick with no luck there nice cards not sure why they refuse to work in this board and where plug and play in the other board. incith Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Ok, so. My turn. Some years ago I took an Asus P9D-M based 1u server home for playing around with. I planned to use it as a new pfSense rig for a while. Worked great. I decided I wanted to fill up the RAM, because cheap. Enter nightmare. 12 RAM sticks, a BIOS reflashing toolkit, a new BIOS chip, and 3 eBay Asus P9D-M motherboards, and a whole-bunch-of-time-and-headaches later....I was still in the exact same position. What the !@#$ is going on?! Why JUST this 10g SFP card (or any x8 SFP card I tried). x16 GPU worked fine. Other x8 cards work fine. What is going on! I bought a Mellanox x4 single port SFP card and cut my losses. A year or two after that, someone on reddit messages me randomly, that they found this thread and it solved their issue. I had long stopped using that server but assured them I would try this out anyway on principal as I still had the parts to try. I booted it up, installed Ubuntu, powered off, and put the card in. Sure enough, it turned on with 4 beeps as it used to. After 10 minutes of trying to cut and place the tape thin enough, I was ready to test. Holy shit. It booted. Pulling over 9gbit across the LAN. Y'all are geniuses. I can't thank you enough for getting this wildly crazy issue an ending for me. I have no use for the server, but this fix absolutely worked. Quote
