February 20, 201412 yr Why not run your plugins like SAB/SB/CP/etc. in your arch VM as opposed to inside unraid?
February 20, 201412 yr Author Why not run your plugins like SAB/SB/CP/etc. in your arch VM as opposed to inside unraid? I don't want to go thru the hassle of moving all the databases and mounting the shares. Mostly laziness I guess I'll probably move them in a while. I haven't had a successful move that keeps all of my settings and I'm tired re-setting it all backup. Windows Box with RAID5 to Drobo/Mac-Mini to Drobo/RaspPi to Synology to unRAID.
February 20, 201412 yr I like your setup, can you go into detail on your WAP and reverse proxy setup?
February 20, 201412 yr Author I like your setup, can you go into detail on your WAP and reverse proxy setup? Thanks! May have borrowed my layout picture idea from you. I liked yours as well. April 25, 201412 yr Author oh boy. Its an old adjustable audio rack. The feet spin off and you can move around the spacers/shelves. I'll see if I can find it online. ninja edit: Something close to this - http://www.wayfair.com/Plateau-SE-Series-Modular-Rack-SE-A4-B-PT0127.html
April 26, 201412 yr Author your backup unRAID array is same size as my primary array (9TB). nice setup! Thanks!
April 26, 201412 yr Do you keep the backup array running 24/7 and run automated backups? Why no parity drive on the backup array?
April 26, 201412 yr Author Do you keep the backup array running 24/7 and run automated backups? Why no parity drive on the backup array? I do not keep my backup array running 24/7. I turn it on once a month and and run an rsync. As far as the no parity, I just need to buckle down and spend 130 on another 3TB drive.

Ok, thanks - was wondering if there's some deeper philosophy in running it without parity

December 2, 201510 yr Just curious, where do you get those kinds of cases for your data disks? I've just been recycling old desktop towers, but they're hard to wire nicely and they don't have good air-flow over the drives. I've seen some desktop cases designed for NAS used (like the infamous Fractal Design R4), but you seem to have something that looks more like a QNAP/Synology box with all of the disks laid out side-by-side and sitting where you can easily access them. Link/hints on how to search for this style of case?
