You'll need arcmsr added to the kernel.

Send a PM to LimeTech with a link to this thread and ask them if they can add this to the next build.

That driver is already present in the unRaid linux kernel:

Try typing this command and see if the drives get recognized:

modprobe arcmcr

  • Author

getting

FATAL: Module arcmcr not found

and the beta gives me

modprobe: FATAL: Module arcmcr not found
  • Author

ive tried

unRAIDServer-6.0-beta6-x86_64.zip

and

unRAIDServer-5.0.5-i386.zip

Maybe there's a typo, so try this:

modprobe arcmsr

  • Author

typed that in and it just went to the next line..

is there something is should have done in between?

all i've done so far is let the server boot from the usb, then checked the webUI to see it unRaid can see the drives.

After you entered the modprobe line, try refreshing the webgui and see if any of the drives on that card now show up.

I'm not certain if there's something else you might need to do in the webgui, such as selecting "stop array", then "start array" to get it to rescan the device inventory.

Do not reboot the server after entering the modprobe line, otherwise you'll have to redo the same modprobe line after the next reboot.

  • Author

deleted cookies but the card doesnt show up.

it doesnt have a start/stop option i guess cause there are no drives to be assigned.

also here's a list of the PCI devices, it does see the controller

Looking at the product spec:

http://www.arecadirect.com/arpc20tosara2.html

It seems to make distinction between "JBOD mode" and "Single Disk" mode.  You might look for "single disk" mode setting in the bios.

Type this sequence:

modprobe arcmsr

cp /var/log/syslog /boot/syslog.txt

Now you should see the file 'syslog.txt' in your 'flash' network share.  Attache that to your next post.

  • Author

syslog.txt attached as requested

did not find a single disk mode.. i'll keep looking tho but now gotta run into work.

anything else i can check/do?

Sorry, truth is I'm under the gun to get 6.0-beta7 out and I won't be able to look at this immediately.  Please send me an email so that I can flag it for followup.  [email protected]

  • Author

will do thanks..

but do you think this may be something to put into 6.0-beta7?

  • 4 weeks later...
  • Author

i just went over all the card's settings over and over, tried to create passtrough in raid but still nothing.

went back to JBOD mode and tried some settings but still nothing.

one thing to note is that drives are brand new do i have to do anything to them before unraid can see them?

No, unRAID handles blank disks just fine.

  • Author

Ok thanks. Been seeing post about preclearing disks and wondered if that was why it wasn't showing up.

Ok thanks. Been seeing post about preclearing disks and wondered if that was why it wasn't showing up.

unRAID can't preclear a drive that it can't see. If you do get it to see them then you should definitely preclear them.
