[SOLVED] system requirements: v5 vs v6

Featured Replies

my server is OK spec-wise, nothing too fancy  (see sig). how much of a performance difference would there be assuming i'm using the same apps in v5 and v6 (via docker)?

or any thoughts at all on this subject?

Only real spec requirement is a 64bit processor and maybe a little bit more memory, but it performs nicely for me. Havent noticed any negative performance impact tween v5 and v6, but then again v6 has been in beta for 15 months now so ita been a long while since i ran v5.

I have not noticed any change in performance on either of my two servers (see spec below.) and either of them has near the CPU horsepower that your server has!  As a note of disclosure, I run a 'plain Jane' server with no docker containers.

I doubt you'd notice much (if any) performance difference;  but the memory utilization will be more efficient with v6, since you have 8GB of RAM that can be directly addressed with the x64 architecture.

i went ahead and installed v6 last night. at first i was just gonna backup my flash and go through all the tutorials but figured why not and did it.

anyway, to answer my own question, it seems like my sysload is much better than before. at idle i'm actually hitting 0.0X sometimes which never happened before on v5. i have all the same apps installed with the exception of unmenu (gone) and mariadb instead of mysql.
