[SOLVED] sabnzbd docker (gfjardim) very slow compared to V5 plugin

Featured Replies

I've installed the latest V6 beta 14 on a 2.6Ghz i7 laptop with an SSD, for testing purposes.

I thought using dockers would be difficult, but it's very simple, i like it :)

But.. now i've added the sabnzbd docker from gfjardims repo, and set it up. It is downloading, but very slow... 450KB/s on V6 as docker compared to over 6000KB/s on V5 as a plugin... how is that possible?

The V6 laptop is connected over a gigabit wired network (as is the V5 server).

There is no bandwith limiting in sabnzbd.

I can't tell you what the problem is, but I can tell you that isn't typical behaviour.

I use NZBGet not SABNzbd, my machine is only an i5 not an i7 and it's also wired up with gigabit ethernet.  My connection maxes out with no problems so something is definitely not right there.

did you rememember to pause Sab on v5 before testing the speed on the laptop?

I did not pause it, but it wasn't downloading anything.

I've had nzbGet docker download at nearly 180 mbit/second and it's only running on a very old server,  in relative terms its an i5 equivalent but it doesnt use much cpu anyways to download.

Ok, looks like i made a mistake. I've made a typo in the number of connections in sabnzbd... in stead of 40 i entered 4 :)

So, my speed is back :)

OT, I know, but you use 40 connections for ~ 6MB/s?  Yikes.  I run 6 simultaneous connections to max out ~ 4MB/s.  I'd be worried about oversaturation.

Depending on your distance/backbone saturation, you should see a lot of dropped packages in the way. 20 connections don't saturate my 50mbit connection in Brazil.

nzbget is always faster, so use that over sabnzbd, especially if you have a slower machine and/or fast connection.

I use 30 to 40 connections to max out my 152mbps line on a G7 HP Microserver.

I'd agree, you hear a lot of people going from sabnzbd to nzbget, don't hear of many going the other way, same as sickbeard and sonarr.

But having said that, some people have scripts and a setup they're happy with and don't want to change so I've pretty much given up trying to convert anyone now.

But I'm glad I took the time to do so.
