January 9, 201016 yr It's a nice change, still clean, but more functional. I'm also digging the mid-level RB-1200 you added to the product lineup. Its a nicer pricepoint for those of us who can't imagine going beyond 12 drives. Great job!
January 10, 201016 yr Looking forward to 5.0. I must say I've had a similar experience with Joomla also.. Great piece of work, and your website is far cleaner. Nice one! And Ruby for extensions? Is UnRaid going "Web 2.0"?
January 11, 201016 yr Author I'm trying to order licenses, but there isn't anywhere to put the KEY10 Code. When you click the 'Buy Now' button it takes you to the shopping cart page. There is field on there labeled 'Customer Code' - well that's the place you enter KEY10 - I just changed it to read 'Coupon Code'. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks, I appreciate that! The key to using Joomla is to actually learn how Joomla wants you to organize things And Ruby for extensions? Is UnRaid going "Web 2.0"? You noticed that... yes, using Ruby/Sinatra. Actually considered using Joomla That would have been cool but way overkill considering you need mysql, php and a webserver. I suppose the prudent thing is to just use some kind of php templating system, but life is too short to spend writing php

Any hints of what to expect in 5.0 betas?

I suppose the prudent thing is to just use some kind of php templating system, but life is too short to spend writing php To keep this on topic I will just point you to this thread in the User Customizations section. Now back on topic: The new web site looks nice. The look is much cleaner then the older joomla one and makes it look more "professional" and the new offering of the mid-level server is very good. It's much more of an entry level so new customers can get in and using unRAID.
January 11, 201016 yr Now if Limetech could find a way to put together a 3-4 bay with the free license and ship it out the door for $400 he'd be able to compete with the big boys for users that want a bit more than a USB connected disk. (the price point and size of the mid offering is pretty sweet)
January 11, 201016 yr That's what I was thinking too wholly, but I didn't want to distract him too much after the effort he put into the RB-1200 + website redo. We want 5.0. HOWEVER, I will say that the solution purko and others are using would probably be very cost effective. He could even bundle a Plus license in there and be below the $400 mark. EDIT: Apparently this box has quite a little following... http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=3453.0

January 11, 201016 yr Love it! My only gripe is that the 'Home' - 'Logout' links and the 'Reply' - 'Print' links are smaller than they used to be, thus a smaller target for quick clicking. I'm sure I'll get used to it within a day or two, though. Great work Tom!

EDIT: Apparently this box has quite a little following... http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=3453.0 I agree. It would be nice to see the free version have the ability to use the cache drive and then something could be built using the Norco NS-520, CHENBRO ES34069-BK-180 or CHENBRO ES34069-BK-120. Price it to match the Drobo and other units and I think you will have more people coming to unRAID. Once they get use to using unRAID and if 5.0 is everything we are hoping it to be then you may get people buying the smaller unit and then "upgrading" to the larger 12 disk systems and above.
January 12, 201016 yr I agree. It would be nice to see the free version have the ability to use the cache drive... I would have to add security to that list. Any box sold commercially like that should have at least the security of the Plus license. Price it to match the Drobo and other units and I think you will have more people coming to unRAID. Once they get use to using unRAID and if 5.0 is everything we are hoping it to be then you may get people buying the smaller unit and then "upgrading" to the larger 12 disk systems and above. There's a lot of fallout over the Drobo with users getting burned by their draconian support and development structure. That being said, most people who buy NAS appliances know what RAID is and what it can give them, so they may not see the benefit in unRAID on its own. Those appliances also have VERY slick GUIs, some with Ajax controls. I think what unRAID is really missing is on the front end, and hopefully 5.0 will come a long way in addressing that. Exciting times!

As you said, any commercially SOLD product has that feature (security), and unraid does in IT'S sold version.
February 17, 201016 yr Mentioned about a month ago that a full-tower 20-drive product was in the works... Looking to buy at the end of the month and very interested in knowing more about that unit... or at least having some kind of timeline for it so I can plan my purchase... Cheers, G
March 2, 201016 yr The new and improved forum is pretty sweet, easy on the eyes, great colours, and theme style. Once again Lime Technology you have out done themselves. Wish the unRAID web interface took a shine to this kind of face lift too Good Stuff!
