HK-Steve
Hi Everyone, Have been running unRaid now for over 10 years, I have my first problem. After a 4hr house power supply failure 1 of my 2x 40Tb towers is not running. Boots properly I can see it get to Tower Login. But I am not able to access over ip to start the array. Can not reach this address is the message. I am running 5.1 on this Tower. Running 5.0 on the working Tower2 I do see an error message on the screen, which I have attached. Appreciate any help or advice on how to fix as I have never had to get under the hood ever before.. Much appreciated Steve Quote Link to comment
HK-Steve
After some reading, I have the syslog... Hope it can help syslog-20130923-105140.txt Quote Link to comment
HK-Steve
just found I am running 5.0.5 Quote Link to comment
Squid
Looks like that syslog is from 2013 From the console, cp /var/log/syslog /boot/syslog.txt Then upload the syslog.txt file on that flash drive Edited September 9, 2017 by Squid Quote Link to comment
HK-Steve
Thanks Squid, I will try again. It could be the time is wrong on the Tower, as I have not checked it in so long as it has run perfectly for so long.. Software is not my strong suit, hardware is..... Quote Link to comment
HK-Steve
OK, a second try. Much appreciated syslog Tower1.zip Edited September 10, 2017 by HK-Steve put up a compressed file Quote Link to comment
Squid
Call trace after call trace. Unfortunately, I don't know what they're relating to. You could try copying the bzimage and bzroot files from the working flash to the one thats giving you problems and try again. Barring that, I would try another flash drive, set it up as 6.3.5 trial and see if that boots up. Quote Link to comment
HK-Steve
Thanks Squid, just wanted to check, I will not loose data on the drives when going to 6.3.5 will I?? Quote Link to comment
Squid
Nope. But see if the trial will boot before you start going and assigning drives, etc. Only real downside is that its recommended to convert your drives over to XFS once you go to v6 Quote Link to comment
HK-Steve
OK, I copied the bzimage and bzroot files over from the good tower to the failed one, Boots and get's to the login page same as before (see photo in 1st post), but I can not get in with the ip address. If I go to v6, does the converting to XPS mean data is lost in the conversion? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Just now, HK-Steve said: If I go to v6, does the converting to XPS mean data is lost in the conversion? No, only if you do it wrong, also you don't need to convert immediately, maybe ever, just that some users experience stability issues with reiser on v6, besides it's and old and in some cases slow file system, xfs is recommended. HK-Steve
Thanks johnnie, good to hear. I have guests here today so can not really concentrate all my energy to working on it today. I will try to use 6.3.5 and see what happens later. Appreciate all the help very much. Cheers Steve Quote Link to comment

HK-Steve
OK, Have some time today, let`s see if we can get back online.. I will do the upgrade, so the question is what do I do next? Do the disk numbers need to match the original numbering and parity disk? I read through the startup guide, but it is a new system, not a recovered system. Appreciate your help Quote Link to comment

HK-Steve
Hi Guy's, Wanted to drop in to let you know all is back up and running. No data loss which is a huge relief. Much appreciated your help and patience. I do have one last question as I can not navigate to the individual disks. I can get to the Share folder and see the combined data of all the disks. In settings I looked at everything. Enable disk shares is set to auto, Enable user shares is set to Yes, Included disks is set to All. After changing my IP address, I did not turn the Docker back ON or the VM Manager. Do I need to?? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Enable disk shares is set to autoChange to yes, but you need to be aware of the user share copy bug. Quote Link to comment
HK-Steve
I self answered again, Sorry. OK, I finished watching the Initial Setup Video, and saw set to Yes, Seems changing The Auto setting to Yes fixed it. Thanks for your help. Quote Link to comment

JorgeB
https://forums.lime-technology.com/topic/32836-user-share-copy-bug/ Basically copy only from the same type of share, i.e., from disk share to disk share or user share to user share. Quote Link to comment
HK-Steve
So just to be clear..I read through the thread, but a lot went straight over my head. I currently copy to a specific disk, then my media is played from the share folder. Should I be copying to the share folder and play from the share folder?? Plex is my Software that I use to playback all my movies and TV shows. I do have the option to play directly from each disk, just needs to be set in Plex. Which is the best option?? Much appreciated Quote Link to comment
