(SOLVED) Share UnraidShares has been deleted.

Featured Replies

I can't create shares to save my life! I'm not sure if a plugin or docker or something is causing this to fail.

Every time I try to create a share it just says 'Share UnraidShares has been deleted.' Doesn't matter the name of the share it just says deleted. I've rebooted and tried several times. I have attached my diagnostics.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

You have filesystem problems on disk 10.

You need to Check Disk Filesystem on disk 10.

You should also consider moving away from ReiserFS to XFS (or BTRFS) as your disk filesystem.

Strange error, don't remember seeing it before:

Dec 30 13:56:55 Tower emhttpd: error: get_filesystem_status, 6453: Permission denied (13): scandir

Reboot and try again.

I've had them at that for a long time. I'll transition to XFS

Disk 10 was just added today. It precleared and formatted just fine. There is nothing on it right now. I'll run the check on it.

ReiserFS isn't the problem.  It is just that the filesystem is no longer supported and developed.  I moved my disks from Reiser FS to XFS a couple of years ago just to avoid potential future issues.

According to your diagnostics disk10 is already XFS, which is the default for new disks.

Correct. Disks 1 - 5 are reiserfs and 6 - 10 are newer and formatted to xfs. I'll get that taken care of but I don't think that is what's causing me to not be able to create shares.

^following this advice is what I would do.

Your attempts to create the UnraidShares (and also StorageDisk10 share) share is preceded and followed by numerous "error: get_filesystem_status, 6453: Permission denied (13): scandir" errors in your syslog which are related to disk 10.

Something is amiss with Disk 10.  Whether a reboot or a filesystem check will fix it, I don't know, but, something appears to be going on with disk 10 since you are only trying to create these shares on disk 10.

Well I'm trying reboot right now. But I want to share all the disks (1-10) to all my computers and also setup users shares as needed. Am I just configuring this wrong?

Same thing. Here is the diags after reboot.. I tried creating the shares on all drives.

getting those same errors:

Since user shares are just root folders on the disks, BE CAREFUL if you do it this way. Unless you have a very good handle on how user shares work, it's too easy to corrupt data if you copy between user shares and disks. Normally you would just use user shares and leave disk shares disabled.

Ok maybe I'm not understanding how user vs disk shares work. When I originally had my initial server 5 years ago it had disk 1-5. When I browsed to \\tower\ it showed me the flash and the 5 disks (disk1, disk2, etc..) then I could use it from there. Always worked and I liked it. Since my upgrade to 6 and adding more storage I no longer can access the data. What do I need to get access to the disks? I can use Komander and SFTP just fine but I also want network based sharing.

  • Community Expert

As jonathanm already said.

I highly recommend you only use User Shares or you only use Disk Shares. The default in Unraid V6 is to not share any disks that are included in User Shares. You can lose data if you mix User Shares and Disk Shares.

User Shares gives you a lot more of the features of Unraid than Disk Shares do and I don't see any reason to use Disk Shares. You can control which disks each User Share uses if you want so accessing Disk Shares doesn't really buy you anything.

Try booting in safe mode to see if there's any difference.

So to get this straight. I have Disk shares turned off right now. And User shares turned on.

I have Disk 1-5 on resierFS

Disk 6-10 on xfs.

I don't want disk 7 or 8 on User shares.

I have files I want on 1,2,3,4,5,6

Disks 9 and 10 are empty.

I should create a user share with disks 1,2,3,4,5,6,9,10 on include and 7,8 on exclude

Then all those files on all those disks will be available under one root share correct? Or should I migrate the data from the resierfs shares to the xfs shares. Reformat the resierfs to XFS then migrate data back. Then finally create the User Share?

While it is a good idea to convert to XFS, that is a totally separate thing and doesn't really impact your shares strategy, so it is probably better discussed separately just to keep things focused.

Most people have multiple user shares instead of putting everything under one user share. It is a lot more flexible that way since it lets you configure different user shares differently for different purposes. User shares just appear as folders on the network. Why do you think you want everything in one user share? And why do you not want disks 7,8 in user shares? You can keep them separate very easily just by making the appropriate user share settings. It is also possible to exclude certain disks from ANY user shares in Global Share Settings, but I really think it is better to just go with user shares and no disks.

You shouldn't specify both include and exclude. Just do one or the other. Include means ONLY those disk, Exclude means EXCEPT for those disks. So there is no reason to specify both.

Also, all user share settings only control how new files are written. Unraid won't move anything between array disks just because you change which disks a user share should use.

Thanks for the suggestions and input. I have disk 7 and 8 used for VM's only so I assumed they wouldn't need file share access anywhere. They are two smaller drives 250GB and 360GB.

I'll try this when I get home today. Sounds like a fun New Years Eve event for me! Thanks Again!

Lots of errors in your syslog related to preclear plugin, but since you are in SAFE mode (according to syslog), I have to wonder if these aren't coming from the client side.

Have you tried clearing your browser cache? Have you tried another browser? Another computer? Do you have any other computers or mobile devices with a connection to Unraid UI while you are trying this?

Same as a CSRF error.  But in this case, the script doesn't exist (due to safe mode).

Close any other browser windows open to the server (or refresh them)

Same thing on these computers:

Windows 10 - Chrome

Ubuntu 18 - Firefox

local UNRAID GUI on serve -r firefox
