slasse
Hello, because my motherboard died i had to rebuild my unraid server. it starts up without issues on the new hardware but after a short while it crashes (between 10 and 30minutes generally) it does not matter if the array is started or not. when i crashes i lose all connectivity and the console is frozen. before the crash i can use the system normally so i edited the config to write syslog to my usb drive. i added the syslog file, ran a diagnostic and also added some pictures i took from the screen when it had crashed. from another thread regarding a ryzen build i found a setting to change in the bios which i did but it didn't help for me: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/84707-ryzen-5-3600-build-freezes-daily/ i am running on a Ryzen 5 1600 AF 3,2 GHz asrock B450 pro4 32gigs of Hyperx 2666 fury memory unraid is on version 6.8.0 i saw there is a newer version but with the crashes i did not risk updating yet does anybody have any idea what could be going on or what i can try to find the problem? thanks in advance Photos(1).zip tower-diagnostics-20200213-1459.zip tower-syslog-20200213-1358.zip Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
If that RAM is dual ranked 2666Mhz is overclock for Ryzen 1st gen. more info here: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/46802-faq-for-unraid-v6/?do=findComment&comment=819173 Quote Link to comment
slasse
thank you for the quick answer, i think the ram is indeed dual ranked: P/N HX426C16FB3K2/32 however i think the processor is 2nd gen: P/N YD1600BBAFBOX on the second drawing i see 2667 speed ram is supported if 2 of 2 slots are occupied my motherboard has 4 slots and for 2 slots on a 4 slot motherboard i do not see 2667 being supported so that means that my RAM/CPU combo is not compatible? sorry, i am not that familiar with these things Quote Link to comment

slasse
mmm ok i really thought this was a second gen CPU according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryzen it has zen+ architecture which i assumed was 2nd gen but in the name it does say: Ryzen 5 1xxx (Pinnacle Ridge) very confusing to me 🙂 Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
It's a refresh of 1st gen Ryzen, not 2nd gen CPU, first model number denotes the generation, they are on gen 3 now, models 3xxx. Quote Link to comment
slasse
ok, thanks for clarifying so it would be better for me to swap my memory for 2 sticks of dual rank 2400, correct? i have it currently booted with just one stick installed and that seems to be better. still running after 40 minutes i just bought the hardware yesterday so i will check with the store tomorrow. thank you for your help Quote Link to comment

Likewise the "3rd generation" APUs such as the 3200G/3400G are really 2nd generation CPUs with integrated graphics. Edited February 13, 2020 by Hoopster Quote Link to comment
