Snuups
Hi Folks. I narrowed my problem down a bit. As soon as 2 writes occurs the unRAID kills the Shares/Mount on the computer who started writing second. First computer will be halted or is slow, like 2 MB/s. Is there a way to enhance speed for multiple users? Maybe my explanation ist not accurate. I an no native english speaker. I will answer any question as good I can. There is another issue. When I copy files to unRAID I have to overwrite some. Every time. Even copying into an empty folder. Any ideas? unraid-diagnostics-20200823-1343.zip Edited August 23, 2020 by Snuups Quote Link to comment
Snuups
Noone has an idea what my problem is? unRAID is pretty much unusable this way. Please I am desperate. I hope I have not wasted my bucks into a toy. Quote Link to comment
trurl
RAID controllers are not recommended. Quote Link to comment
Snuups
It's configured as JBOD. I read that is the way to do. What can I do? I need the unRAID to run. Edited August 25, 2020 by Snuups Quote Link to comment
Snuups
I tried a 9305-24i Controller but it's not detecting any HDs. I slowly get the impression that unRAID was a huge waste of money. some bucks for the software and plenty for probably useless hardware I have no further use. And of cause probably loss of data. WE'll see about that. Edited August 25, 2020 by Snuups Quote Link to comment

Snuups
I'll try this. 😞 Such a pain. Evenrytime iI write on unRAID it started asking if I want to overwrite something, even in an empty folder. Quote Link to comment
itimpi
The symptoms you are describing are not typical. There has to be something going on at your end that is causing them. Quote Link to comment

Snuups
English: When I copy files it starts with about 100 MB / s. This drops to 30-50 MB / s after 30 seconds. After a while, windows asks whether I want to overwrite data that already exists in the target. It does the same when I copy files into an empty directory. I usually copy 500 GB ore more et the time. Copy like 4 or more TB fail at some point. Quote Link to comment
Snuups
2 steps forward. 3 staps back. I tried a LSI SAS9305-24i controller. This one recognizes no HDs at all. What am I doing wrong? I just don't get it. Quote Link to comment

They come in ‘forward’ and ‘reverse’ variants that look identical but are wired differently. Quote Link to comment
Snuups
Yes, absolutely. It worked already on another backplane. Quote Link to comment

Snuups
I still have not figured out how to upgrade to a Beta OS. Still reading stuff here. Quote Link to comment

JorgeB
Though doubt it will help, still won't hurt to try, and if it's still the same it's likely a HBA problem. Quote Link to comment
Snuups
If you are running a 6.4 stable release or newer, go to the Tools/UpdateOS page and select the Next branch. I tried that many times, it jumps always back to stable. I thought I have to look somewhere else. I try the Card in a Pc now. Maybe ich can find something. Quote Link to comment
Snuups
So far the Controller has newest BIOS Firmware or whatever. I think this thing does not work with the SuperMicro backplane. It don't display any HDs. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
It should work correctly with any Supermicro backplane, what model backplane do you have? Quote Link to comment
Snuups
AFAIK BPN-SAS2-846EL1 SAS Expander Backplane Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Should work fine, but note that you can only connect one or two minSAS cables, since it's an expander backplane. Quote Link to comment
Snuups
I have only connected 1 cable. Quote Link to comment
