  1. In the "SHARES" window i have many shares and it's very difficult to see the names. 80% of the shares names are un-readerable because of the truncations. I thought this was going to be fixed in 6.10, I am running 6.11.5.?
  2. Thanks wgstarks. I created the boot/config/smb-fruit.conf on my flash drive and added your suggested settings, restarted the server and they was a big improvement in copying files to folders with large number of files in them. From my tests you do not need the: #spotlight settings spotlight = yes in the boot/config/smb-fruit.conf or #spotlight settings [global] spotlight backend = tracker #end spotlight settings In your smb extra configuration It seemed to make the search slower and in folders that have 700 files or more the search timed out before finding the file. So the setting i am using at the moment are: (in the boot/config/smb-fruit.conf) # global parameters are defined in /etc/samba/smb.conf # current per-share Unraid OS defaults vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr #fruit:resource = file fruit:metadata = stream #fruit:locking = none #fruit:encoding = private fruit:encoding = native #fruit:veto_appledouble = yes fruit:posix_rename = yes #readdir_attr:aapl_rsize = yes #readdir_attr:aapl_finder_info = yes #readdir_attr:aapl_max_access = yes #fruit:wipe_intentionally_left_blank_rfork = no #fruit:delete_empty_adfiles = no #fruit:zero_file_id = no # these are added automatically if TimeMachine enabled for a share: #fruit:time machine #fruit:time machine max size = SIZE Although this has massively improved copying to the share via SMB and previewing pdfs with Quick Look, as soon as you exceed approx 150 files in a folder you start getting slower copy times and quick look preview starts taking time to load. So it seems the speed of the SMB is linked directly to the quantity of files in a folder.
  3. I removed all my "Samba extra configuration" as i was going backwards when i add the extras i used before 6.11 My main issue was speed, when connected to a shared drive it would take 1 minute to move 2 x pdfs that are 47Kb in size from one folder to another folder in the same share, copying new files (10 x small pdfs to the share i could go make a coffee and still see the files copying to the share from my MAC. Using Quick Look on the Mac to view the pdf's in the share would take 10-30 seconds to preview. It was becoming unusable. Searches would take a minimum 1 minute and some times way longer. But would work. The above shares are on an NVME cache format XFS and SSD cache made of 2 x SSD format BTRFS Mirror and contained between 200 - 300 pdfs. I had problems with folders that contained more than 600 files in earlier version of UNRAID 6.9 and 6.10 but now it seems to be any thing with more than 60 files in a folder. Reducing the number of files down to 30 - 40 in a folder I was able to move files between folders very quickly, copy files to the share without the need for a coffee break and the search was almost instant. So the question is, why should the number of files in a folder have such an impact on the performance of the SMB share ? The SMB setting are set to default.
  4. I found the issue that caused the disk to go missing for the array. It is the back plane of one of the hot swap IcyBox enclosures that i use to house the array. As suggested it was a power issue that kept turning off just one bay/disk
  5. The disk was rebuilt with no errors. Thanks trurl and JorgeB array is now back to normal.
  6. Thank you for the help, Data rebuild has started and projected for 5 hours. Will keep an eye on the logs and see if i get the power issue again.
  7. Yes Unraid has emulated the disk mount and shows the same quantity of folders and files as the missing disk 3. As seen in image 1. Image 2 shows the data on the missing disk 3 mounted via unassigned devices.
  8. I have unassigned disk 3 and array has restarted with no notifications but it says in the array list Disk 3 not installed.
  9. If i start the array with the missing disk i get the message the "All existing data on this device will be OVERWRITTEN when array is Started" as per the attached image. So the steps are: 1. Add the missing disk back to location disk 3 and start the array, 2. The data on disk 3 is overwritten/wiped. 3. Unraid rebuilds the data on disk 3 from the two Parity disks.?
  10. What is the correct way to deal with a disk removed from the array after a reboot? As you can see from the attached images showing the array list before and after reboot. Disk 3 was removed and all the drive letters have changed although the remaining disks seem to be in the same order. How to i get the disk back into the array with out loosing the data on the disk that was removed from the array (disk 3)? ----------------- I restarted the server as i removed a plug-in "CA Dynamix Unlimited Width" and I removed a disk that failed pre clearing.
  11. So far, I have removed all the extras setting. Settings as displayed in the attached image. For the first time I am able to copy files from the Mac 12.6 to Unraid 6.11.0-rc5 without the finder on the Mac crashing and completing the copy. (1.2Gb takes 20seconds on 1GB network to nvme cache pool) Also searching in a share is also working without any smb extras, takes 1-2 minutes before any results show. (Share is on a nvme cache pool)
  12. thank you for the info, that helps a lot.
  13. When you add extra setting to the - SETTINGS/SMB/SMB Extras Are these being saved to the /etc/samba/smb.conf or /boot/config/smb-extra.conf ? What settings should be used as starting point? Is the list below a good starting point? #unassigned_devices_start #Unassigned devices share includes include = /tmp/unassigned.devices/smb-settings.conf #unassigned_devices_end [global] vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr fruit:nfs_aces = no fruit:zero_file_id = yes fruit:metadata = stream fruit:encoding = native [share_name] path = /mnt/user/"share_name" spotlight = on ------------------------------ *Please note: do not use spaces in share name or mover will not move the files from the array back to the cache pool.
  14. I am using 6.11.0-rc4, its fine moving files from cache pool to the array with a space in the share name. But after replacing the Cache drive i cannot move the files back. Mover starts and finishes instantly. Renamed the share without a space and mover started moving files to the new cache drive. I have seen from the forum that this was also an issue for 6.9
  15. The bug is still not fixed. I am using 6.11.0-rc4, its fine moving files from cache pool to the array with a space in the share name. But after replacing the Cache drive i cannot move the files back. Mover starts and finishes instantly. Renamed the share with out a space and mover started moving files to the new cache drive. Will submit a bug report
  16. I am not a 100%, as my Syncthing knowledge is beginner, but the computer or server sets the IP used to talk between Syncthing folders. Sounds more like a network settings issue.
  17. Thank you for the information I have now "include" just the one share that contains the 29,000 images, will check back in the morning and see how it goes. As you say it only this share that is a problem, all my other shares work at speed. The folder with 29,000 images is not at the top level of the share and is 4 folders deep but it effects the whole share.
  18. Could not find "Dynamix Folder Caching" did you mean "Dynamix Cache Dirs"
  19. Thanks for letting me know that is happens on Windows as well as my Mac.
  20. That not good news. I thought the job of a server was to handle large data sets with easy. Are you accessing the data via SMB on Mac or Windows?
  21. Just check the UNRAID Version: 6.10.2. The SMB Extras code is still need to get the search working in MAC OS, but no longer required for copying the files to or from the server.
  22. I have just move my database backup to my UNRAID server, on to the disk array. The database has pictures that are linked to the database and stored in a folder next to the database files. Over time the picture collection has grown to 29,900 images in one folder. Viewing the server and folder via the Web browser I can view the 29,900 files, it takes a few moments for the window to show all the images and Krusader happily moves the folder from cache pool to the array. The problem starts when I try and view the folder from my Mac running OS 12.4 (This also happens with OS 12.3.1) via a SMB share. When opening the folder it hangs with a loading symbol but never completes to show the 29,900 images, I can close the window but the finder than crashes and I have to restart my computer. I am currently running UNRAID Version: 6.10.2 but this also happened under Version: 6.10.1. I have only just moved this large folder to UNRAID so unsure about previous versions. Also I moved the folder to a ssd cache pool and made no difference. All the other shares on the cache pool or array work at speed but do not have the quantity of files that the database contains, Probably a 1,000 files at the most. Is there a maximum number of files you can have in a folder with a SMB share? I have already added the following code to the SMB Extras under setting to get the search, copy to and from working. #unassigned_devices_start #Unassigned devices share includes include = /tmp/unassigned.devices/smb-settings.conf #unassigned_devices_end [global] vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr fruit:nfs_aces = no fruit:zero_file_id = yes fruit:metadata = stream fruit:encoding = native spotlight backend = tracker [share name] path = /mnt/user/share name veto files = /._*/.DS_Store/ delete veto files = yes spotlight = yes Even in Version: 6.10.1. I need the SMB Extras code to get the search working.
  23. I still need the code in unRaid Version: 6.10.1 and Mac OS 12.4
  24. Does any body have a Docker container for Claris Filemaker Server 19 ? Searching the unraid and docker hub did not yield any results that where useable.
