  1. I used the unthrottled settings instead of the best bang for your buck. Is there any reason I should switch to the best bang for your buck? I have 12GB of RAM and only use MariaDB, Cache_Dirs, and APCUPSD. I am pretty sure I have more than enough RAM to swing the additional memory consumption. Opinions? Thoughts? Tunables Report from unRAID Tunables Tester v2.2 by Pauven NOTE: Use the smallest set of values that produce good results. Larger values increase server memory use, and may cause stability issues with unRAID, especially if you have any add-ons or plug-ins installed. 2. Successfully flashed 2 more LSI MegaRAID cards. I am incredibly appreciative of all the hardwork that was done to put this together.
  3. I am a huge fan of your web gui. It looks fantastic and is exactly what I would want to use. Can't wait to see when it is finally released.

  5. Currently have 10 drives in one machine and 15 in the other. I plan to max out one system for sure and eventually will probably swap to a bigger case so I can have a 1:1 mirror with both systems.
  6. Both my servers run 4GB right now. Once I finally upgrade to v6.0 I will hopefully be swapping to either 8GB or 16GB, depending on pricing.
  7. I use SSD for cache in both servers but solely as App drives and not for caching function.
  8. Since I originally posted this question I have only been purchasing the WD 3TB Red's. I would like to replace all of my 2TB Greens with them, but at this point since I have plenty of open bays I have just been adding new 3TB's into the array rather than replacing drives. I have had a few of the Red's fail. Only one actually failed while in use. The others were DOA. The last failure was almost a year ago now, so I am pretty satisfied.
  9. I have 2 of them. Sounds like you are using a Cat5 cable and not a Cat5e or Cat6. Cat5 cables don't support gigabit speeds.
  10. Did you forget to set the source as movies, tv show, music, whatever? If you didn't specify what the source was then it's not going to scrape.
  11. I would be willing to ship to south africa. Just pm me your information so I can get you an accurate shipping quote.
  12. Since posting this I have purchased a number of the red drives which I am now planning to use exclusively. I have had to RMA a number of my reds, most were DOA's, only one actually failed in the array. I usually just watch for the sales now and pick up one or 2 drives because at $15 more for the extra year warranty and considerably less head parking it has been worth it.
  13. Interesting. I did not know that. I might have to give that a try.
  14. Right I get that 4095mb is less than 4gb, but how does the server behave differently? Its a difference of 1 MB. I guess I just don't understand how removing 1mb from the available memory will make the server do something different? I get when you have 8gb and set it to 4095 it only utilizes essentially half the installed ram. Other than removing that 1mb does the server use different logic or follow a different code path or something?
  15. How does the server behave differently with that option? The only time I have heard of anyone using it is when they have more than 4gb of ram.
  16. I just started having the same problem today. I only have 4gb of ram on my server.
  17. I also have one of the TAMS AMD Supermicro servers and if you do not have a room in a basement or somewhere that you will be able to put the server out of the way, you will definitely want to plan on modding that system. With the AIC case you will want to order the Norco 120mm fan wall and back window. Neither are difficult to replace. I wish they had the AIC when I purchased mine I would have ended up buying two instead. I did the fan wall mod on my Supermicro case and it made a world of a difference in noise and airflow. Although on the Supermicro case there is more involved when replacing the fan wall than there is with the AIC.
  18. 34mb/sec is normal. Yes the speed of the machine you are copying from has a role in transfer speed.
  19. Or you just internalize the Parity disk or put in the last available slot until you have enough disks to require that location for data. Regardless of whether you physically move disks around or just use a new configuration and reassign drives that way, it honestly doesn't matter when you have no parity disk.
  20. Thanks for the reassurance. I have had good luck with newegg RMAs before. I'm not upset about it being denied I totally understand the time frame issue, I just wish that they would have returned the drive in good packaging. I also test my drives asap because I have had so many bad ones in the last year.
  21. So to make this situation that much more fun. I sent the drive back to Newegg as an RMA which they ended up denying because it was apparently out of their warranty. Then I created an RMA with Western Digital to get it replaced through them instead. Newegg shipped the drive back in their usual terrible fashion which took over a week to get back to me. And of course with the fantastic packaging they did there is now a small nick/scratch in one corner of the drive. So I expect Western Digital to deny my claim which is great because I did the Advanced RMA since I have already been down my spare drive for a few weeks. They of course sent a re-manufactured drive to replace my almost new drive, and if my RMA is declined I expect that they will charge my credit card for the full amount for a brand new drive. Has anyone run across these kinds of issues before??
  22. I would choose yes in that case. If you are using the cache drive solely as an app drive you may want to consider disabling the mover script if it is installed. You don't want the MySQL folder to end up on an array drive. I find it interesting that you cannot choose only as an option though.
  23. If you enable user shares you can just leave it set to all and in the drop down for use cache disk change that to only. As for the config file you shouldn't have a config file on the cache drive. The config file should be on your flash drive under /boot/config/plugins/mysql. You can just stop the service in the webgui. Then change the value in the webgui to /mnt/cache/mysql, then enable the service again. It is really quick either way. You should consider looking into configuring user shares though. It is one of the easiest ways to work with your data. Especially since you are using XBMC. Then you don't need to add individual disks as the source you can just add the user share. Example: smb://192.168.1.2/Movies, instead of smb://192.168.1.2/disk1/movies and smb://192.168.1.2/disk2/movies, etc.
