  1. Upgraded, no issues. Thanks for the great release!
  2. The Norco I have uses the SFF8087 on the drive bay side, the backplane. If you have any of the modern HBAs they will use this as well. I use the default supermicro jbod cards that support 8 drives with 2 "ports", each card services two connections on the 4224 using cables like these (I think I got mine from mono https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816133034 So it depends on your HBA, but you would never do a reverse to a forward, you would do SFF8087 on both sides, or a reverse/forward for whichever side had the single ports....or just SATA cables if both have single ports
  3. Not sure, depends on if I can find a better solution for myself ;). Might keep it as is for backup and build a new primary system...dunno yet!
  4. That's sort of where I came down, I run into another issue that isn't storage/transcoding related with Kodi on my Shield, 4k HDR content is not properly translated for non-HDR sets so looks totally washed out.
  5. Hey all, I'm trying to plan my transition to 4k content in advance, as when we struggled for years moving from SD -> 720p -> 1080p with transcoding and playback devices it was a /nightmare/. So I'd like to put some thought into this and start getting content now. The main issue that I see is needing multiple versions of each media file. As most CPUs struggle to transcode 4k down to 1080p, you need to have some "staged" versions. However I know Radarr can't deal with multiple qualities of the same movie, and Kodi would just add them both as unique items in the list. Plex is a bit better about it, but still requires the user to nudge it if none of them can direct play. I'm thinking about installing a second Radarr (I use linuxserver.ios docker, could install binhex) and give it a new mount point so I can at least start building up my 4k library. I'd likely have to do the same thing for Sonarr, but that would be a /nightmare/. I could setup the new instances to ONLY grab 4k content, which would allow merging things later. The real problem is on the player side, I often stream outside my house and right now I can't transocde one 4k HDR movie (remux) on my CPU: E3-1275 V2 @ 3.50GHz I'm struggling with how to balance ease of use with functionality while not just ignoring 4k as I do have a set and would like to start grabbing content that can use it. What are you all thinking? How are you solving this issue? Or am I alone in struggling here?
  6. Might want to check the Ryzen thread out, not sure how the video pass through is sorting out but it had been an issue for a while.

  8. Sorry, the trooper line...I should have quoted the whole post you were responding too...my bad
  9. I just saw a note somewhere that they announced a refresh to the big cases at CES. I haven't seen what the updates are, but perhaps they made them a bit less obnoxiously styled.
  10. It is, very much so. But it's the living space acceptable alternative to a massive rack mount, and slightly cheeper than those ;).
  11. I like the look of the Lian Li D600, but it can only do 15 disks in 5-in-3s I think.
  12. I'd consider the 15 bay one if they would do a barebones with no MB/Proc. Their prices on hardware don't seem absurd, but if you already have some it removes the ability ya know.
  13. Right now I'm using one of the beastly 24 hot-swap rack mount cases and have been for 4-5 years. It sits in a little rolling rack in the basement storage area and does just fine. However in the new house I'm going to have a large office, and I'd prefer to keep the server in a less dusty environment than the unfinished storage/mechanical area. With that in mind I'm trying to find a nice looking case to migrate into. It will sit on a table, and I'd like it to be a bit of a looker without being over the top. Current needs are ~15 drives (Only using 10 today + SSD Cache). I'll be swapping in the current hardware as it's all still very good, so really just looking to hear what others have come up with recently. Cost isn't a huge concern, but I'd rather not spend more than a car on it ;). I've looked at the Lian Li D600 and really like the look of it, are there other options at about the same level that you've run across? Perhaps something that already has hot swaps to avoid the 5-in-3 bays?
  14. Man, I wish those 45drive guys sold just the chassis. I'd love to move from my current rack mount, but can't afford a full system
  15. If you already have 24 HDDs, i don't know if you can fit them all at the DS6 (deep silence 6).. Maybe with the purchase of additional internal HDD case. I'm down to 10 drives at the moment, and 4 of those are 6TBs (Rest are 8TB with a 10TB Parity). Have lots of free space, that's what has me thinking about downsizing
  16. That Nanoxia is a nice case man, I have been looking at something to replace my 24 bay rack mount so I don't have to stuff it in the unfinished basement...that might just put me over the edge.
  17. On the Rackmount question: You can make them "More quiet" but as they are built for large air flows, by definition you have to move a lot of air through them. My 24 bay server has 5 fans, I've replaced them with high end fans (Noctua) and have the speed controlled by temp...when the server is being used for a parity check there is a noticeable wind-rushing sound...the fans themselves are nearly silent but the air they have to move to cool the drives is huge in volume. This is all about trade-offs. You can go with a standard case and use a 5-in-3 caddy with a fan, that has directed isolated air flow so the total volume of moving air would be lower and much more targeted...but if you have 3,4 or 5 of them air is still going to be moving. It is a little more easy in standard cases to control the other heat generators...for instance I have 2 fans + CPU heat sync fan in my rack mount, in a desktop case it would be a little more simple to use a passive CPU heat sync that is cooled with the exhaust from the 5-in-3's allowing you to optimize things...but the cost is room to work, rack mounts traditionally are cavernous (thus lots of air to hit the right places) while desktops can be much tighter but require less moving air to get them cool. One last point, with a desktop your temp rise from intake to output is going to be larger, as you are moving less air. Ok, lots of words there, but the summary is that it's all about trade offs, there is no one right answer to this question, both can work and work very well...often the position of the server (In the basement storage room vs in the entertainment center) is what dictates path more than anything else.

    add ssh user

Best option I've seen to date is this: Not run it myself, but thought I'd point it out.
  19. The file is in your library, your library isn't in the docker. Just install the Nerdpack plugin and then add mediainfo to unraid and process the file. Mediainfo output isn't going to change based on running it from within the docker or not (And if it does, we have a much bigger problem here
  20. Thanks for the update! I'll check things over the next few days...really love the new Gather feature
  21. I'm also not sure the % complete for Gather is operating correctly, I just passed 65G of a ~235G gather operation where I'm moving all ~235G to a new disk and it is sitting at 3.15% complete, thus the time to completion seems way off. Minor problem, but I thought I'd point it out! Edit: The gather finished, it was at exactly 11.11% when complete. Hope that helps.
  22. Also, as a feature request, just to help my OCD would it be possible to remove the root directory from the disks where it is empty? Even if this works, in the above post it looks like it would leave /mnt/disk4/Andromeda in place, just empty.

  24. Running another test, I'll post results if the files are still in the old directory.
  25. Just had this happen to me, Gathered 12 Monkies and had to manually remove the directories on disk7 and 8. Are you changing working directory to the src: drive? Or using the full path to actually remove the directories? I: 2017/08/18 12:20:14 core.go:775: Running Move operation ...
