  1. Great. I've got same board. So you haven't seen stability issues by now. I'll test this myself too. My question is: If the machine goes into C8 states, and keep in that state, shouldn't the % increase over time? Why it doesn't go higher than 40~50 %?
  2. Hello From a reddit forum: Which one is correct? Or are both the same? By the way, I tested this with Ubuntu, with ubuntu installed at nvme. Tested with other nvme brand too. ASPM output was the same for me: disables for one pci and realtek. (But as i said in my posts, disconnecting ethernet reveals c8 states are possible with ASPM disabled.) So, with Ubuntu, I had no usb connected, not keyboard and no mouse. But still: So, no idea why is this. I explained this here:
  3. Hello, I have been able to reach higher states than c3 disconnecting ethernet. So I guess, there is no a problem of ASPM beyond kernel NIC Realtek bug. I guess, because I get higuer than c6, but ASPM lscpi results are the same, and higuer states doesn't look like stable. So, the results comes with a few caveats I cannot solve and I am being completely ignored at "Reduce power with powertop" thread.
  4. Does this still being a restriction?

  6. I have tested this board with 12V. And it reduces significantly the power consumption. I am trying to reduce more with powertop, I've called to test powertop with ubuntu, but I am not receiving any messages for weeks. My posts are being avoided. If someone from this thread can give some insights would be great. By the way, if you follow this posts and it's links, you can check power consumptions with 12 V with different configurations.
  7. Please, please, can anyone give some light to this issue?????:
  8. Hello @mgutt, finally I've been able to install latest ubuntu server (release normal version) at the nvme. I have had same results and questions explained here. Please, could you or anyone address them?: Of course, because of realtek driver bug, I need to disconnect ethernet to reach higher states. But still appearing other pci device with aspm disabled. But, works ... not high percentages as I question here: I've researched this, running powertop -t 60, even -t 1000 and still not going above 48%. I've make it run without usb or hdmi, using sleep 10 && powertop --auto-tune && sleep 10 && powertop -C -t 100 , then disconnecting keyboard and hdmi and waiting for 100 seconds, but same results at the csv. Hope it helps and someone can help.
  9. Hello, 6.12.4 version had no stability issues for 8111 driver related to aspm, and was activated. N100dc-itx had been properly tested. Why do you say it would have stability issues? I know, if the new linux kernel updated this disabling aspm, it was for a reason, but would be great to change this behavior with a plugin. Can't this be activated as an option?
  10. Hello Please, maybe I missed something, but I asked about where to report new linux kernel realtek bug. Here in unraid is being reported: We've been told to report to real responsibles of the kernel: But , if unraid can't fix it, could they pave the road? could anyone with knowledge about if this type of things ... help? I gave more detail about how confusing is for some of us all this mess:
  11. ok. CPU fan with BIOS is crystal clear. I didn't know I can separate two fan headers behavior. The issue is i am using jonsbo n2. fan placement is where it is, below, direct to disk. So , the fan at this position, or should be replaced somewhere else, or I should give it functionality. And I don't think a useful functionality could be cool the fans according to a "far" cpu temps. And I think I have to investigate System Temp/Dynamics System Autofan Plugin & TE IT78 driver plugin / Nuvoton NCT6687 Driver Plugin I guess this drivers plugins are unraid. At worst case, if pwm doesn't work, I can use for example fan at 70% power until disks are cooled.
  12. Do you think is possible to use a fan controlled according disks temperatures while controlling another fan according cpu temperature?
  13. I reach c8 state with hdmi connected. In fact, what I have to disconnect is ethernet because of a kernel bug. But could you or anyone provide me some light to this issue? Doing nothing, is 48% of the time desirable or should be ~99% if user is doing literally nothing? Is powertop still refreshing or maybe is frozen and I can't see new values? So for me is relevant an answer which also asked @dopeytree And please, could anyone answer me: ASPM is set enabled for ASM1166, with ssd sata connected. And c8 is achieved. Can we already say that asm1166 firmware is enough?
  14. Remove this requirement is at the current roadmap?
  15. And is this usb shortcut added to the count of the number of disks included in the license?
  16. But then, if you don't have docker containers, nothing installed, not array started, high c states should be mantained (so, increasing their percentages values)? If they should, in my case only get's 48% of the time. Maybe the powertop is not refreshing?
  17. I meant the current firmware already installed in your board. Which command can make you obtain the firmware label installed?
  18. How do you get the firmware version?
  19. Hello N100DC-ITX with 12V 72W Leicke power brick: Ethernet connected(reaching c3 state): Idle: Just board with unraid usb + nvme + -> 7.5W Idle: Just board with unraid usb + nvme + ASM1116-> 9W Idle: Just board with unraid usb + nvme + ASM1116 + Samsung Evo SSD (just connected) -> 9W Ethernet disconnected(reaching c8 state) Idle: Just board with usb and nvme -> 5.5 W Idle: Just board with unraid usb + nvme + ASM1116-> 7W Idle: Just board with unraid usb + nvme + ASM1116 + Samsung Evo SSD> 7.1~7.8W (ssd just connected trough jonsbo n2 sata board, and is recognized and available to unraid) How have i get this data? First I have checked as suggested by @mgutt, I connected with HDMI in the 3 scenarios. I've checked C-States. When ethernet is diconnected. realtek 8111 aspm kernel bug is avoided, and reach c8 state. So, to measure without hdmi consumption I just repeat the process , disconnect hdmi, and see how power consumption goes down as normally does when c8 package is reached. At this point, I haven't tested Ubuntu yet,but a few caveats: ASPM is set enabled for ASM1166, with ssd sata connected. And c8 is achieved. Can we already say that asm1166 firmware is enough? For last scenario, for example, this is the capture: By the way,I never see c8 state going beyond >42% everytime I open powertop. As time pass by at this state, shouldn't it increase? Maybe powertop stops refreshing too. Which power effiency approaches can be done for ssd sata? In my case I am going to create an unraid with all ssd. Regards
  20. This is not friendly at all. I asked a few times, Reading the bugs threads @JorgeB provided i don't have right idea about if the issue is being reverted or not. I don't even know exactly how this threads/patches system works. Is not very user friendly, isn't it? Not very friendly UI, isn't it? Not for every noob linux user, don't you think? So would be great, developers, who I guess control much more about this kind of forums and issues, could answer this question, providing a short intructions to achieve what you say: the more people are reporting the, the higher is the chance that this issue will be solved. As I say, I completely agree with these, but no one is making this steps digestible for us. By the way, some of you say solve the issues of the realtek drivers using the plugins. So this plugins achieve to change it on the fly? can source code of drivers be modified from here and apply them directly for testing purposes? Because I have also read opposite statements, saying that the mantainer only mantains latest drivers. If the plugin only have latest drivers, what's the point? A little bit of detailer explanation (covering these doubts) about this plugin would be fine. If it exists, I haven't found it. But one more time, patience please, we are trying, just need someone who kindly make us the road easier. Regards
  21. Great digging work. I think is fixable. I have read more than once that: Modification are isolated to the r8169 driver So maybe some of us could be lucky at the end. I've also seen this code at this patch: if (rtl_aspm_is_safe(tp)) substituting one if(enabled) , which give me hopes. But I don't even know if this patch arrived until release. So, at the end of the second link, someone comments about the issue, but is redirected to create a new bug. He creates this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2017158 would we have to report here? maybe other threads where patches were being discussed. Please, advices here.
  22. We don't know how or where to report this, but I guess unRAID programmers know where this kind of issue is being talked about if it exists, or report if it's not present. How could we find it about? few watts compared to high consumer nas. much for what alternatives could be: cloud private nas. much in percentage terms, above all if we read the conclusions of the COP28. middle terms of wife approval factor depending on the system XD. Jokes beside, I don't see it as a number, but as a quality and personal preferences. For example I prefered an fanless hdd-less nas, to reduce power and noise. I mean, I see this and I thought, yeah UNRAID is worried about environment and costs: I've read someone saying how minimum 2.5 watts are (and much more in other kind of motherboards) - even being 25% for n100dc-itx , but at the same time, I can read: If you decide to spin down, your hard drive power consumption can go down from 3-8 watts idle on average to 0.4 watts (per hard drive) so depending on how large your Array is, you might see large power efficiency gains when spinning down. I've seen this video as UNRAID advice, and is amazing isn't it? How much worried he is about C-States. And UNRAID itself recommends using C-States and reach C8 states. "Generally, if your server can reach C8 idle, it will run the most efficiently." Huge banner here too. UNRAID has teached me a lot. Now is a bit bitter this bug. Giving it 0 worries after doing all this ... power consumption talking... and c-states talking, is something I did not expect. You got me as a client after reading it, and see some videos of "Spaceinvader One "
  23. @MPC561 So, if the problem is that big wouldn't the kernel be fixed in short period of time? is there an issue opened somewhere?
  24. I support this statement. It's a pitty that N100DC-ITX increase its idle power by 25%, because from my point of view, this board is the best or one of the best prize-powerConsumption-transcodingCapabilities performance solutions. In addition , there is no fan or noise with SSDs. Taking all this into account, could this be fixed? @unraid
  25. Is this repo for a plugin for changing the drivers? Does this mean, that old driver can be like... inserted?
