Out of curiosity if you pick RAW instead of qcow, does the behavior go away?
In my testing when RAW is selected, it creates a vdisk of the right size (120G)
(I took the exact same settings as in the screenshot above)
qcow gives a vdisk of 19 Kb (incorrect size).

Please retest in safe mode

I don't know what went wrong for you, but testing this on 6..9.0-b25 I didn't encounter any problem both for existing and new VMs.

I was talking about the VNC port assignment.
VNC video driver can be changed from the GUI. Just tested; works fine.

won't allow me to change vnc settings
You need to change VNC settings in XML view and save it

took 40 mins for the UI to update, is that normal?
Time is determined by the value of the poll_attributes setting.

Try a short time as test, e.g. 15 minutes.
See Settings -> Disk Settings -> Default spin down delay
-
How is your spin-down delay set?
In the logging I don't see any disks being spun down.

Is it possible that some process is keeping them spinning?
Hmm, beta25 has a revised implementation of SMART monitoring.
I'll have a look at your diagnostics (and perhaps @limetech needs to look too)

There isn't much I can do, the GUI does report the correct temperatures.
You can set the tunable "poll attributes" to do faster updates of temperature readings, which may help you in your investigation.

The only way to "fix" this is to shutdown the machine and let it rest for 15 minutes,
Temperatures displayed in the GUI are coming directly from what a disk itself reports.
It looks like you have some cooling issue.

Uncommenting slaac hwaddr instead of slaac private in
New Unraid version will have "slaac hwaddr" enabled by default.

Fixed in next version.
Thanks

Now I see this:

Next release, it will be filtered out, to prevent issues like this.

I think you missed the part of the code to change the storage driver.
The value of the storga-driver parameter is automatically detected and set as either "btrfs" or "xfs" when the docker service is started.
What is the output of
findmnt /var/lib/docker
-
Corrected in next version.
Thanks.

I have an Adaptec HBA and this controller has the 'nasty' habit that after a disk is spun down, it would spin up again without apparent reason, hence my question.
You are saying the 4 disks on this controller assigned to the array, work as expected, but the 4 pool disks do not?
Have you tried to stop docker and vm services and with these services disabled do a spin down of the pool?
-
LOL. This is the current implementation of the GUI.
It doesn't use hdparm for array and pool devices, only for unassigned devices.
-
Did a quick test and I need to specify the device name (current implementation), e.g.
emcmd "cmdSpindown=$disk['name']"
It doesn't work with "idx". Can you have a look?
-
Ok, I need to change that.
-
Clicking anywhere on the button works for me.
Two things to try:
1. Use a different browser
2. Start system in safe mode
