  1. Hello all. I just purchased a 120GB Samsung SSD to utilise as an App/Cache drive. I've yet to install it and am wondering if I should have gotten something bigger. Yeah I know, it's based on personal usage, but it was a really great buy (€39) and at the moment I only have a 10GB docker image (4 containers), with Logitech media server and Plex being the main culprits. I have yet to dip my toes in to VMs, but may do in the future. So the question is, how big is the average VM?. I have an HP Gen 8 Microserver, with a Celeron CPU, 10GB RAM, I'm not even sure if this is viable for a VM to be honest. Thanks for the advice.
  2. Updated fine to 6.2.2 but have since noticed that using the system buttons plugin to shut the server down no longer works. I get the "shutting down" screen but it never actually shuts down, I have to physically press the server power button. Not sure if that is a problem with the OS or the plugin, but this was working fine in 6.2.1 to my knowledge. Will have to dig out some diagnostics as the server appears to start fine without a parity check.
  3. Ok, is there some sort of simple guide for adding a simple "app drive" for docker etc...? I have no need for a "mover" script as my server is only powered up as and when I need it (I.e. to listen to music).
  4. Ok, the "system" share I don't need to touch or should set that to cache prefer as well? Also, mover, is this a plugin, an app or something as I can't find any references in the UI? Thanks.
  5. Thanks, last question :-) Do I need to manually move my "appdata" across or will this be done automatically on adding a cache drive? At the moment its on the root of disk 1.
  6. Thanks. XFS supports trim etc... right? (I have read some time ago that was a reason to use BTRFS)
  7. Anybody? Additionally, should the SSD be formatted as XFS or BTRS?
  8. Hi guys. Running Unraid 6.2 and I currently have a data drive only server (3 data, 1 parity). Since it is recommended to run docker etc... off an SSD, I have purchased a Samsung evo 750 (120GB) SSD. How do I add this to Unraid and make it available as the "apps" drive? How do I setup this to work as a cache drive as well? Can I move my current docker configuration and data to the new drive or will I have to re-build everything? Many thanks in advance.
  9. @Squid. You mentioned being able to view the log output from previous script runs. How do I view this? What is written to the log? - is it a full capture of the command line output? (would be great). Thanks.
  10. It should beep in 6.2.x if initiated from webGui, but won't if initiated from command line or power button or apcupsd. Ah ok that explains it. Yes can confirm, beeps from web UI, doesn't when I hit the power button directly on the server. Thanks.
  11. Am I right in thinking that the Beep on powerdown is now gone with this release? (I quite liked that )
  12. This is a great plugin, been after something like this for a while as I loathe going to the command line So many thanks to Squid. A couple of suggestions: Minor: I've noticed the output doesn't seem to support UTF-8 chars, not sure if this is due to the plugin, the browser, the way the plugin captures the output etc... Major: It would be great to be able to manage scripts from the plugin page, i.e. create, edit and delete in a simple form. I know this has been suggested, but this would really make this an all-in-one solution IMO
  13. So just updated to Unraid 6.2 and have removed the powerdown plugin as "it is no longer required". Hmm apparently not. Shut the server down over an hour ago using the web system buttons as I normally do and thought everything is fine. Just realised that the web UI has been hung the entire time. Go to server, press the power button no response. Log in to server and issue "powerdown" command, no response. So I'm guessing a hard reset now?? Sorry of course not a rant at dlandon, but how Unraid does not have such a basic process in place after YEARS of development is beyond me. I'm guessing it is a difficult computer science problem! So can we please go back to using this plugin with 6.2? Thanks.
  14. It's not that the powerdown plugin functionality has been baked in, it's just that LT has improved the shutdown process and it should not hang as in previous versions. I don't see UD going away anytime soon. Thanks for your hard work maintaining these plugins mate.
  15. Thanks for the info. It's nice to see this stuff finally being baked in to Unraid. Now what about unassigned devices next??
  16. So this docker upgrade. Sorry, I'm still not clear on it. Running v6.19 at the mo. I have no cache drive and my docker IMG is under/mnt/disk1/apps/docker (or something like that). So I should create a new "system" share (no need to export it), and under this, a docker folder (I have no VMs so no need for libvirt at this point). I should point the docker config to use this location, and then I should re-download all my old container setups from community apps, previous apps. I don't need to worry about all the mappings and stuff in my old containers that will already come across. I understand that point 1 is optional, but recommended way, right?? I got to be honest, I expected a lot more from LT regarding this one time migration process. Thanks.
  17. Hey all. I've accidentally messed up quite a few files with a windows tool that changed the modified date on some of my music. I'd like to write a little shell script that will read in a bunch of flac files recursively, and change the modified date to the created date of the file. The files are in various levels of folder hierarchy, so would be great to specify the root folder and let it go off and do it's thing. Any help appreciated as all the stuff I've found thus far hasn't worked :-(
  18. ok, thanks for the confirmation. So I can save a few $$$ and go for the cheaper 1333 stuff. What exactly does this number refer to then? PC-12800. Thanks.
  19. Usage is mostly basic NAS stuff, Music & video streaming. I may play around with some VM stuff in the future, but in general I just think that 2GB is a bit stingy these days... I believe the CPU is a Celeron. Pic of the current module attached.
  20. Hey guys. A question about RAM upgrades... Currently running Unraid on my HP Gen. 8 with 2GB RAM. I want to pop another 8GB stick in there. I have no idea about RAM these days, I haven't bought any for ages. This stuff is 1333Mhz, PC-10600, 240-pin DIMM, DDR3: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-KVR1333D3E9S-8G-1333-240-Pin/dp/B0064Z71NY?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE I took a photo of the current 2GB RAM module. It appears to be PC-12800. Is that a problem with matching? Would this be better? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-Technology-DDR3-Memory-Module/dp/B008LMNHB8/ref=pd_sim_147_6?ie=UTF8&dpID=41fjlWTLIKL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=01116W684AFX9PWESH6A Do I need to run these in matched pairs? etc... Sorry for all the Q's.
  21. I use the Krusader docker: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=40355 This will give you a "regular" file explorer and works well IMO. There is one (major) problem at the moment and that is that docker won't see any drives mounted, so you'll need to restart the docker service so that you can access any attached drives mounted through Unassigned Devices. Of course, if you just want to move things around the regular unraid drives, this is no problem. Also take a look at Dolphin, offers a similar experience.
  22. Playing around with Krusader some more last night, it appears you can access Quacamole directly with <server name>:8080. From here you can connect to Krusader with no login credentials. Is this by design? I see this as a security risk... ok you need to be on the same network, but at least with Samba my shares are read only. And through the regular Unraid web interface I have to log in with user name and password. Just wondering...
  23. So I installed this plugin but have yet to use it. So as I see it, this is some sort of warning system that 'bitrot' has occurred. Question, how likely is this to happen? Is it more prevalent in HDDs rather than SSDs? If a file has "bitrot", would it be completely unreadable? Just wondering as I don't have the means to have everything from my Unraid server backed up... Thanks.
